Horrible client service. Scheduled an initial patient visit for full skin check for a Monday (note to self, no more doctor's appointments on Mondays) woke up sick, canceled the appointment per the instructions (left a message) and was charged a $50 no show fee. OK, I get it. I paid it. Rescheduled the initial patient visit online with the earliest next available slot over a month out. I get a call TWO DAYS before the appointment saying I didn't book the "right kind of appointment" so they weren't going to see me, even to look at a couple of troublesome spots because I wasn't an established patient. The earliest they could see me would be JULY. On top of it, the scheduler was rude. read more

I have been a patient of Vitalogy skincare in Bastrop for eight years. Last year we moved from Bastrop and I elected to remain a patient there even though the trip is about an hour and a half drive. My annual appointment was scheduled at the time of my last visit. In February I noticed a new skin lesion consistent with the squamous cancer I have had many of. I tried to call the practice on two different times with no answer and no call back. After about a week I got a call which resulted in the staff leaving a message to call back. I tried once again with no answer. I left a message cancelling my future appointment and that I was going to a new practice. I have not heard another thing from them until last week when I got an emailed statement for a "no show"! I definitely will not return to this practice. They obviously are more concerned with billing than they are with seeing patients. read more

Dr. Phillips and assistants provided excellent care during my moms recent Mohs surgery and I would highly recommend her. However, the office is just not efficiently run. Appointments are hard to come by and the 4.5 hours waiting to hear if margins were clear was too long for my elderly wheelchair bound mother. Apparently there was an "emergency" with another patient but they failed to communicate that with us. read more

While Dr. Sayad seemed like a nice doctor with decent bedside manner, this place just seems to want to scam as much money out of you as they can. My first bill came in the mail and it was a little less than $200 for the doctor's visit (I don't have a copay, it's a deductible for me). Then, I got another one a bit later that bumped up the bill to over $300 that had some lab fees in it. When I went to pay the bill at their offices, the lady gave me a number totaling over $400! Now, here's what happened at my visit. I went there to inquire about my face, which had broken out, probably related to my lupus, but my rheumatologist told me to consult a dermatologist as well. My rheumatologist put me on a 5 mg dose of prednisone temporarily. When I told Dr. Sayad, she seemed confused as to which steps to take for further treatment and asked me a couple of times what my rheumatologist said. She settled with prescribing me two topical cremes, one which I could not afford (over $500), and the other, Mirvaso, also expensive. She gave me a coupon for both, but the Mirvaso was what I could afford for $50 for a small 30 g tube. Then, I asked her about these large bruises I've had since two years ago from falling when I was tubing at the river. They never healed and I asked her if there was anything she could give me for them. She had never seen something like that, which is pretty much what all the doctors I've seen about the bruises have said. She took a skin sample out of my right leg bruise, but it was a large enough sample that she had to stitch it up. It left a bigger bruise after it "healed" and the only thing the lab tests told was that it was a bruise that would not heal due to medication that I was on. Derrr. I'm just so mad that the bruise got worse. My butt hurts now. So yes, I will pay my bill, because I have good credit. But I will not be going back to that place of thievery. read more

I have a non-life-threatening medical issue that I've been dealing with for quite some time. The medication I am currently using works but has some unpleasant side effects. I broached an alternate, safe, inexpensive treatment option with Dr. Sayed, and she dismissed me out of hand. She was so insensitive and acted defensive, impatient and brusque. I did my research, and she refused to listen to anything I had to say about it. She said that she would prefer if I used some compounding medication that her office could come up with, plus she said I would have to make an additional appointment with her to discuss it further. Both of these options are money-makers, and it takes a minimum of two months to get another appointment with her. I may have even made an appointment to discuss the issue with her had her attitude been different. She knows that the treatment I wanted would cost me pennies a day. There's a ton of literature regarding the safety of the treatment option that I requested, and she refused to discuss any of it and acted like I was trying her patience. I was extraordinarily calm and respectful; she's probably just one of those doctors with a superiority complex. I felt invalidated and disrespected. Needless to say, my husband and I will never go back. read more

I went to get a cyst removed from my scalp. Let me say I was TERRIFIED. I've never had any sort of surgical procedure so I was so nervous. Dr. Straight explained the entire process to me and made sure I wasn't feeling any pain. She also had a nurse stay in the room to keep me company and talk to me during the procedure to distract me. Dr. Sayed provided great service and I'm content with my direct experience with her. The issue revolves around the fact that I was overcharged by nearly 50%. I knew the numbers didn't add up for the service provided, so this was partially my problem for not requesting the breakdown before the payment was processed. But, it should also be a humane responsibility to make sure you're reviewing your billing system before you just collect money from customers/patients. Call me an idealist, but I like to assume the best out of businesses. Not only was I overcharged, but I was directed towards a billing team that claimed they couldn't issue a refund for at least 30 days! Extremely disappointed. Total Scam!! I went here needing a skin tag removed from the side of my nose. The doctor decided to do a mole check as well. She said that the medium size mole on my back needed to removed. When I asked her why, she said "because I don't like the way it looks". I was very shocked and expressed that I did not want it removed. She got out the equipment, numbed me up and did it anyways! She said that it needed to be sent to the lab for testing. Also, she refused to numb me for my skin tag removal and just used scissors to cut it off. Then after just 10 seconds of holding gauze to the removable spot. She tells me that because it's not stopping bleeding & that she's going to cauterize it! I then asked her if it would hurt. She says, "no, it will just feel funny". One zap of that and I was off the table! SO painful! I had even wrote on my consultation form that I have extremely sensitive skin. I don't think she even read it. She said that she was going to send it to the lab for testing because growths in that location are usually caused by cancerous tumors. After all that, I knew I would not see her again. When they called with my lab results, they told me the mole was "abnormal" and that I'd need to come in again to get more removed. I told them that I'd be in only to pick up my results and that I would see a new dermatologist. My new dermatologist said that my mole actually was NOT abnormal and that it was the most common mole known to man. My friend in California who is also a dermatologist said that this practice of sending things to the lab or saying that something could be cancerous is unfortunately a common practice for the not so honest dermatologists who just want to bill your insurance. read more

UNORGANIZED AND UNPROFESSIONAL I have not visited this establishment for over a year and am just now receiving bills. While I was seeing a dermatologist here (a total of 2 times) they had no records to show for me because they were filed under someone else!!!! Really??? Now over a year later I have received a bill for a missing co-pay (which I always pay at the office visit, as you should.) When I called to question, I was told the bill was already sent to the claims department but if I "thought" I had already payed it they would check into it and give me a call back. Three days later, no call back and a bill from the claims department. I have had a few surgery's in office they call Mohs micrographic surgery, where they take only the bad cells with the smallest removal of tissue. I requested an appointment with the online system and have not received a call back to confirm or suggest another time. I have no idea if I have an appointment or not. I liked Dr. Amara Sayed. My lov-ah and I both go here. I had a dangerous mole removed, as well as a benign cyst on my leg. My only complaint is the horrible scar the cyst left. Since it was my first set of stitches, I'm unaware if it's normal or not to be that scared. He had no scar left from his mole removal, and my mole (which was much larger) left only a small scar. They sent them all off for testing, and everything came back clean. She was nice, funny, and caring. She gave my whole a body a look over, and asked about my recent back break out, but turns out it was probably (found out definitely later on) caused by my new oil based hair conditioner (My hairs is butt length.). I'll definitely be going back here. Lov-ah had a yeast infection on his back, weird, and some random spotches of ezcema, she prescribed him 4 creams and he's all clear now! Now, as for Korina's review, no one numbs for removing skin tags, I've had 3 removed, one from a MD, one from a PA, and one from an RN. None of them numbed me. In fact, the RN tied a thread around mine at the base, and told me it would fall off on it's own. And it did;) Numbing wouldn't keep you from bleeding. read more

This place is honestly awful. They do attempt to schedule any procedure/compensation they can get out of you. They also seem to be very good at cancelling appointments on patients. I was scheduled for an important procedure in the fall, they cancelled a week before with no explanation. I then receive multiple phone calls & emails in the months following telling me my procedure is necessary and should be rescheduled. Hesitantly I agree and schedule an appointment a month before the date. The day before the procedure, I get a confirmation call from the office. Then about an hour later I get another call telling me my appointment is canceled THE DAY BEFORE THE SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. Second time they have cancelled on me so I will definitely not be returning. read more

I had the best experience at Vitalogy Skincenter and it was my first visit (they had been recommended by many of my friends)...I am shocked by the reviews listed. The entire staff was very professional, friendly and walked me through every step of my procedure (and I was there after 5pm). Even though I was having an elective cosmetic procedure I still had to fill out all forms, medical history and any skin problems etc...it was obvious they are very thorough and concerned doctors. I appreciated that very much...they were very honest and did not at any time try to talk me into more services or treatments. I asked so many questions too and all of them got answered by the doctor and the assistant that was in the room. I never felt they were not listening to me or understanding all my questions. I will be going back to get a mole check and some other services very soon and recommending them to others. read more

One of the medical assistants looked as if she was going to out of her way to translate for my mother. They are all rude at this location and act as if they have a stick up thier ass. I was never a big fan of this place to begin with. I now have an indented scar in my face form a steroid shot that was given to me due to a syst. Dr. Sayed did mention it would leave a very small, almost invisible scar. I saw the Dr. 3 times and paid for 3 different medications that did not work before getting the shot. That is also 3 Co-pays. Then, I found out recently that I was sent to collections for $26. Which impacted my credit score greatly! However, I did not receive ONE single phone call from Vitalogy stating that I owed a bill. Nore, did I receive claims from them via mail. I guess I was just supposed to know. I would not recommed going to them. They are a corporate chain that doesn't seem to care to much and do not have good communication within the offie. read more

Not a bad facility and a friendly staff, but don't expect to get results if they do a biopsy on you. After six weeks and numerous attempts to contact them, I still can't get any results. No medical personnel will answer a phone or return a call. Written requests are ignored. Guess the next contact will need to come from an attorney. It will definitely require an attorney if those results are anything that will affect my future. If you are concerned about your health - find a different doctor. These guys seem much more interested in promoting botox, fillers and laser skin resurfacing, less concerned about real skin problems. read more

very unprofessional staff. as i was waiting to pay my copay (which was at least 5 minutes there was no one up front) i heard the words "omg what is that?" so i looked into the next room and it was the nurse who took a picture of my wound showing another nurse and explaining what it was out loud for the whole office to hear. i do not appreciate being talked about by a "dermatology" clinics staff.. i thought i was somewhere i should have felt better about leaving, not worse. dr. sayed was sweet but seemed uninterested and quickly referred me. props to them for getting me in quickly but other than that i think this place needs to review what HIPAA violations are. read more

"Get as much money as possible from your clients" is their business model. Sent me bills 6 months after my visit for which I already paid. I called and they said it was a mistake and I should not have received the bill. I wonder how many other clients just pay the bill because they trust this office, I think that is what they hope for. Also they give you great samples to improve your skin and then when the samples are finished they refuse to give you more or a prescription with out more VERY EXPENSIVE office visits...EVERY 2 MONTHS!!!!! If the stuff works why can't you give me more or a prescription to continue treatment.....BECAUSE OFFICE VISITS PAY THEIR BILLS, THEY ARE NOT CONCERNED WITH THEIR CLIENTS SKIN HEALTH. I went there for a check up,... it lasted 15 minutes, I was charged $395. My insurance which is very good would only pay $170 and they said that was a stretch over their national average. I was stuck with the bill. The doctor used nitrogen to freeze 2 small warts on my hand and it didn't work. The staff was ruthless in collecting the extra money, I paid it...but I will never go back. They are a RIP OFF!!! The last dermatologist I saw charged me $85 which was in another city. The national average is $125. BEWARE, HIGH PRICES. Shop around for another Dermatologist. read more

Horrible experience with this office. The doctor treated my visit as if it was an inconvenience to her and all but shoved me out of the office. The medical assistant was equally in a rush as well. I barely got any information from either one of them regarding my reason for the visit. Nothing positive came from this experience except I know I will never go to them again.
