I got a 90 minute massage from Andrew. He went above and beyond! Every other person I've ever gone to when you tell them where you hurt they just spend an extra 5 minutes there, but Andrew spent 20 minutes before my massage doing stretches and trying to fix the problem before getting to the massage. My wife and I each had massages from Drew as we passed through Moab recently and it was an extraordinary experience. After a brief discussion with Drew I opted to try the PUSH therapy and left 50 minutes later feeling incredible. First, I decided to see Drew after experiencing chronic stiffness and pain due to stress and anxiety. I have been struggling with neck and shoulder tension/pain after being struck by a car 10 years ago. Since then, every pain and sore muscle I have automatically attributed to post accident injuries. Turns out not entirely the case. Second, I decided to book a session with Drew after seeing reviews on Yelp and being on vacation and having adequate child care. Session: Drew was very knowledgeable and my session wasn't spa-like, the emphasis was about resolving pain issues and addressing health concerns. Drew used the PUSH method which involved applying pressure to multiple locations in order to relax muscle tension. Drew enlightened me to muscle memory and perhaps, my muscles had grown to be in a constant state of tension after years of accumulated stress. After failed exercise programs and frustrating medical appointments, it was nice to know that my constant state pain wasn't due to lack of fitness or caused by "my belief of wanting something to be wrong". I also stopped exercising after being active my entire life because the pain was exacerbated instead of relieved. Drew offered a valid explanation that my muscle tensions had reached a level where exercise wouldn't help ease the pain. Drew decided that I needed over two hours of work after years of neglect and approached my situation with the desire to help rather than the need to up-sale. For instance, my arms were quite sore during and after session and it's because my arm muscles have never been worked on. After a decade of carrying children, I could see why muscle tension had developed but went unnoticed. Summary: Drew is amazing and if you're fortunate enough to live in Moab or visiting and want actual body work done, see Drew!!!!! Drew is very experienced, knowledgeable and genuinely wants to help. Clothes are on and no oils. His technique is all work. My session commenced with some muscle relaxation exercises and then, deep pressure to multiple points in order to loosen one muscle. Drew would constantly check pressure and tension levels and address specific areas. He also used a tool and explained how I could recreate his technique at home with my cane. Drew also figured out other places I was experiencing tension that my body was ignoring. He made these assessments based on my testimony and through touch. The most fascinating part of his "diagnosis" was when he would start working on an area and articulate the type of pain; sharp, dull, nerve sensations, etc. Drew is also easy to talk to-sometimes a person needs to share health concerns without feeling judged. He is a true healer and I haven't met anyone with his abilities and I traveled from Northern CA with the fortune to see him. Unfortunately, the PUSH technique is not offered near where I live and the commitment isn't practical at the moment. (Feel free to stop reading here) My doctor recommend I take 1800 MG of pain reliever and anti inflammatory medication for 2-3 months in order to see if my symptoms subside. One session with Drew is a much better option to medication and pain management. Disclosure: I'm 38 years old and healthy-no serious illnessnes. I do not exercise (stopped two years ago because of chronic pain) but my lifestyle is moderately active since I have three kids and stand for the majority of the day and my free time consists of cleaning the preschool and volunteering. I also clean my own house and take my kids outside for bike rides, swimming, etc. I only sit when I'm driving in the car or after the kids go to bed. I'm not athletic and most likely, a little unhealthy since I don't have a proper diet and a little underweight. I decided to include this information because chronic pain can be associated with obesity. I called made an appointment and was luckily able to get in the next day. This was my first residential business experience and loved it. What a great find in Moab! As a person who typically gets 4-5 massages a year, this massage therapy session has been the best by far. During my 3 week stay in Moab, I had visited him twice and he was very flexible with days and time (1 hr PUSH therapy session for ~$75). I am so glad I gave it a try as it was immediately beneficial to chronic pains in my wrist and a finger. I first visited Drew in 2004 on the way to Silverton Colorado. I have had numerous construction and automotive related injuries over the years and often need massage work to feel somewhat human. However, finding a master masseuse is rare. I did find one, but she retired and I was back to my immobile self for the summer. Drew kindly fit me in on late notice when I called the afternoon before I was leaving town, and I am equally grateful to him and regretful that I couldn't stay in town longer to get a second treatment! I had begun my hiking vacation in Moab, and after three days of intensive hiking, several large muscle groups had gone on strike, creating a good deal of pain and cramping. Luckily, I was in the right hands with Drew. He listened carefully to my concerns, made sure I was comfortable with his suggested treatment plan, and worked through the problem areas using the PUSH massage method. For the remaining two weeks of my hiking trip, I was not in pain from those previously-aggravated areas, and that is all thanks to Drew! Drew is perhaps the best bodyworker I have ever encountered. I'm from NY, but in the last 22 years I've visited Moab about a dozen times. Whenever I'm there, I try to set up an appointment with Drew....he really is exceptional. Here's some of the reasons why: 1. When he is working on you, he never losses focus on what he is doing. It's remarkable. It's almost like he is meditating and you and your body are the sole focus of that meditation. He is super concerned with gettting the pressure just right...he'll discuss that with you...and is continually asking for your feedback. 2. He is a very calming presence. Some bodyworkers I've met have a certain arrogance to them. Drew is just the opposite. 3. He has years of experience, has studied a variety of approaches, yet he maintains the enthusiasm and belief in his field of a newly minted therapist. On my most recent trip to Moab (Nov., 2013) I had the good fortune to find that Drew has studied yet another form of bodywork, something called Push Therapy. I had been suffering from a form of sciatica for a few months prior. I had seen four different massage therpaists and three different physical therapists (I'm not exaggerating) with little or no help. Within 10 minutes on Drew's table and this new Push Therapy, I knew he was on the right track...I made more progress from that one session than I had in all the previous work from the others. A bit about me: I'm a male in my late 60s, and I've been getting bodywork (as much as my disposable income allows) since 1985. I was on a spring break rock climbing trip to Indian Creek when, after two days, my neck started to cramp painfully from an old neck injury. I found Drew via online search and was delighted by the results of his work! After a session of "push therapy," I experienced no more neck cramping for the rest of the climbing trip--very unusual for this old injury. In fact, it's been a month now with no neck cramping. I feel compelled to post this review even tho it is long overdo. Last summer, while on a road trip thru Utah, I started suffering from vertigo every time I laid on my left side. After about a week of trying to sleep sitting up I arrived in Moab. Never experiencing this before, and always relying on the holistic approach, I was fortunate to come across Drew and his wellness practice. Even tho he was scheduled to go out of town the next day he had me come in early before his departure. He was very sensitive to my concerns and worked on pressure points related to vertigo. After about 45 minutes he was able to relieve the vertigo and I was able to enjoy the rest of my road trip. He also did a follow-up call a couple of days after my treatment to see how I was doing. I was visiting Moab with my family and was in desperate need of a massage after hiking. I have had a long history of back problems so I'm very hesitant on anyone touching my back. I was torn between having a spa like massage or really having someone work on my back. My husband convinced me to do the push therapy. I don't say this often, but I am SO GLAD I listened to him not only did Drew ease my hip and back tensions but it's been almost a week and I haven't had any issues since. If you're looking for a relaxing spa type massage I wouldn't recommend push therapy but with that being said I found it to be relaxing and very beneficial. I've been talking about my massage visit almost everyday- it's the BEST work I have ever had and believe me I have been to my share of massage therapists, spas and even physical therapists.
