In one hour we did some warm up, learned some spins, did exercises that pushed our limits and then learned a short routine that we were able to perform by the end of class! So fun! I bought a class package before leaving the building! I'm sure I'll hurt tomorrow, but I know I'll get stronger and I'm so looking forward to learning more moves and having fun with other great ladies!

Did you know that California has an official state dance? Well, we do and it is called West Coast Swing. Once a month there is a West Coast Sing Dance held here at this studio which has a fabulous dance floor. Ask about weekly lessons as I saw signs that indicated they had them. The dance floor here is beautiful and dances well. There were couches and chairs enough for most people to sit when they were't dancing. The restroom was tiny and reached through a narrow twisting hallway all the way in the back but was immaculately clean. The entire front wall of the space is floor to ceiling windows giving people on the street a great view of what is going on inside. I know from the name that there are yoga classes here. There was also a sign on the back wall that indicated that classes were held in a room upstairs by Pole~licious, a Platinum Stages sponsored pole fitness studio. For those who don't know - Platinum Stages are one of the top quality manufacturers of pole dancing poles and supplies in the world. My pole dancing studio back in Bakersfield, Polga Fitness, uses 15 foot spinning poles manufactured by Platinum Stages. We're talking the best, folks! First, Strap Strength which I assume is a TRX variant. I really liked this one! And then I stayed for the next class, Fit for Life. That was a totally different class that went through stretch, balance and resistance band strength exercises. For a first timer, in every class, I felt welcome and was impressed that even though these were group classes, instruction was tuned to each of us as if it was a personal training session. The gym is very clean, neat and well organized. And the location is amazing. A gym set in a corner of a beautiful marina! I loved it. The schedule is set up for regulars as well as drop ins. For me that is a huge plus. Harbor Fitness gets "thumbs up" from me.

There wasn't availability so I didn't book but I am appreciative that they provide a response with additional helpful info that I didn't even think to ask. It is so crazy to me that a lot of studios didn't get back to me or haven't even replied since I initially reached out to those studios over a week ago and LIV replied the next day. I appreciate their prompt response, helpfulness and level of customer service.

My partner has never danced before but I was surprised that he was able to transform into a confident leader. Some of the Argentine tango moves were complicated but Ilona was able to patiently provide feedback and cause us to pull off a flawless performance! People called our dance "beautiful" and some were moved to tears, We appreciate Ilona for encouraging us to practice and also get the attire and shoes to practice in before the wedding. She is one of the best dance instructors that I have had!

Her classes are small, and she's all about individual attention…read more Instead of simply dancing at the head of the class and having us follow her, she teaches us combinations and carefully watches us to make sure we're actually moving right. She also is the only teacher I've ever had (and I've had quite a few) who teaches zills. All of her students (including me) get quite good with them. Another thing that makes learning under her great is that there are opportunities to perform on a somewhat regular basis. This gets us comfortable in front of audiences. Perhaps the best thing about learning from Amaya is the "family" feeling among the dancers and Amaya herself. It makes coming to class a joyful thing.
