It's low key, quiet, people don't bug you, the equipment is top and well cared for. The classes are varied and there's a time for everyone. I've barely scratched the surface of possible workouts here- in 6 mos. They have Pilates for an additional fee to members but it's a deal in and of itself- there are weights in a semi private room as well as throughout the gym and I love the women's sauna in the very clean locker room. Sauna and cold plunge option too. I now take five fitness classes a week there (Total Body Conditioning), yoga by Daniel on Friday mornings is a great bonus too (though I can't often make that time). The thing that finally prompted me to leave a review, though I'd been meaning to for awhile: On occasion they have catered food. I eat plant-based, as I am vegan - against the exploitation and killing of animals for unnecessary food products we can thrive without. I'd asked the owner if they could offer more plant-based options next time, and if next year if they can please re-consider promoting 'Turkey Burn' classes (after Thanksgiving), suggesting perhaps just Thanksgiving Burn instead. As us vegans would rather not have to be bombarded with animal-killing messages even at our gym, as we are everywhere else in society. The owner was so gracious and open, thanked me for my feedback, that they'd consider taking 'Turkey' out of their promotions, and that he's learning more about plant-based nutrition (I'm Certified in it, and sent him a link to The Game Changers documentary about vegan athletes, bodybulders, firefighters etc.). He added tofu scramble and fruit options to their Omelete Day breakfast catering, and said they'd have more plant-based options for other events. So refreshing. I found Gerard through Bark and met him, did the assessment and signed up for a package. He then proceeded to change the date of our meeting times twice (once on the actual day), and he completely didn't show on another time and claimed we had agreed on a different time but I sent him a photo of our text exchange to prove we hadn't. I believe in giving folks chances, but this was the third time of flaking and at this point I asked for my money back. He was ok with that and claimed he'd send me a check. Then a week went by. Then two. Then two more. He said it "got lost in the mail"--I waited another month. He still claimed he'd drop by with it and he never did. Eventually, I had to file a claim with my credit card company to get my money back. The owner of the gym even asked Gerard to leave because he's done this to other people too. Find someone more reliable.

The only other "affordable" gym in the area is the YMCA, and that is always insanely packed. Sonoma Fit has great value for money. It's not overly crowded, has great music, people are friendly. There aren't group classes, locker rooms or showers. Just gym stuff and bathrooms. So make sure to keep your expectations in check - you'll get a great workout without breaking the bank, but it isn't fancy!

The facility is always clean, the equipment is modern and well-maintained, and there's plenty of space so it never feels overcrowded even during busy hours. The locker rooms are also really nice and kept in great condition. One of the highlights of this location is the staff. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they genuinely care about creating a good environment for members. Nick in particular stands out. He's always helpful, professional, and brings great energy to the gym. Whether it's answering questions or just making people feel welcome. Additionally, Fitness SF outperforms the local competition; five points fitness, body kinetics, and the bay club all have worse hours, higher prices, and worse equipment (significantly worse regarding five points) If you're serious about building your physique, or just want a high quality, friendly environment to work out in, this gym is right for you If you or anyone you know truly believes an alternative gym in Marin is better than Fitness SF, your IQ is most likely lower than your bench. BUT! That's ok! Switch to Fitness SF and our community and equipment will get you right, physically and mentally. I know for a fact if you come here for just one month you'll never want to switch back to your old gym. Overall, its a fantastic place to work out. Great equipment, great atmosphere, and great staff.
