I did not want to write this, but after all the continuing issues, the owner ignoring me and not…read moregetting my parts back they were responsible for. I must. I REALLY want people to look elsewhere for any type of Automotive repair or painting, I really wanted to give these guys a chance, but it has not happened. So disappointed about this entire project!
I took my car here in November 2019, I was impressed with the team after my initial meeting and the pricing was decent, I even referred some additional clients (Big Mistake). Not the Least expensive choice, however, I was able to really pick what I wanted and the owner Derek seemed like a great person. I decided to use them and paid a significant deposit. I was excited, and at first, things seemed good. I would visit, hoping to see some progress and as time went on I started to get disappointed as not much progress was happening and other cars were getting priority and my car was pushed outside to just rot. After The first year I had fully paid for the project and additional nickel and dime stuff. I also paid them to have all the upholstery done, and paint the Inside pillars. Some of that was done, but it's not great, seat bases are not cleaned and parts are not put back on the seats and the headliner literally has gaps, the dash repair I paid an arm for is cracking and will need to be completely redone. The Pillars I paid an additional $400 to have painted were not done. Sadly that is actually the least of my problems. So They kept the car for nearly two years and FINALLY "Finished" the paint. I had it going to a different shop for engine work. Upon arrival at the shop the mechanic sent me a message to come in and take a look at the car as I had not had a really good look at it.
IT WAS TERRIBLE. The wheel-wells were not painted properly, the primer was showing, The bottom of the entire body was not appropriately painted and the rust was everywhere I paid EXTRA to have the entire care taken down to bare metal at the suggestion of the owner. Dents were not repaired at all, just painted over, the primer was showing on the bottom of the doors, the rubber along the windows was cut terribly when installed, and they lost the Radiator support (OH WELL MY FAULT) The door does not match the rest of the car, and lastly, the paint was cracked. I saw these issues 2 days after the car and they blamed the repair shop for the cracks.. The shop had not started even working on it, but got it on the lift and noticed the issues. I also had Grind Haus pull the motor to paint the engine bay, and they decided to just leave it in the rain, and I had to have all of that fixed internally as it was rusted. No care was given at all. I called the owner and voiced my concerns and sent pictures.I was then told that the car had not been quality controlled before it left the shop and that the painter was let go for not doing good work and I was then assured it would be 100% fixed and repainted. I even volunteered to pay for the paint, knowing they were having a rough go. These are legit text messages I have on my phone.
I started to get concerned that they might go under, so I decided to get the car back to Grind for them to repair the mistakes. It then sat again for months, not in the shop, but an unsecured parking lot in the sun with the doors unlocked with $1,000's in parts and my new paint job in the elements again. I decided to head down to the shop because, at this point, none of my calls, texts we getting answered from the owner at all for the last few weeks (the excuse was he was not getting my text) I decided to, instead of repainting the entire car just try to fix the issues after talking with the once departed painter because at this point I was just done. I called the owner and FINALLY spoke with him and voiced my concerns about all my engine parts, just sitting in an unlocked car and was then assured they would lock it up. Yeah, not done, I went that night and stole my own parts out of the car! I then text the painter and owner stating that I was going to sue them unless the car is done in a month's time; of course, it did not happen. It was almost three years!!
So at this point just went to the shop and just wanted to push this along I just obviously, at this point, wanted my car back and was resigned that I will need to hire someone else to fix all the mistakes with the paint and Interior, which is sad because I paid $16,000 + for this work. They lost parts, they don't care at all. I again after bringing the car home started to see things missing, called the owner, he stated was on the way to the shop and would look and get back to me. LOL, Nope so I went to the shop and sure as I expected Derek DID NOTHING, so I went through the shop and found my own parts. So I thought, I am still missing parts, spoke with them and I guess it's just not their problem.
I am out so much, they have others owed to also and things are not going well. Beware of this shop.
