I'll start with the service and to be fair we went to a pupuseria so poor/slow service is expected. A guy sitting at the bar told us to take a seat, the manager or I suppose owner came by and took our order. We requested water and were told that they charge for the water? What the hell? We are paying customers why am I not getting a glass of water? Well I ordered a $2.50 can of coke. Food was decent but I'll never darken the door there again, might do take out if I get desperate. 1st time visiting this Salvadoran restaurant after residing here in San Leandro for a while. Brought my mother here for lunch and both the food & service was excellent. We ordered pupusas (cheese with loroco, pork & cheese, and the pork/cheese/beans), fried plantains with beans, tamales (pork & chicken), horchata, and for desert... the empanada with leche. Our meal came with a side of chips, curtido, & two salsas (mild & spicy). Every single item was delicious & the owner (very sweet & friendly) came out a few times to say hello & check-in. I love this place! Even though they might be rude, that's the way you can tell it's a fire authentic spot. If you're soft please don't come and bash them about their food when it's really one of the best pupusa spots! The interior feels like you're at someones salvis aunties spot! I do not understand the hate that this place receives. I went in on a Sunday morning at 10:15am and the lady was very kind. She welcomed me in and took my order just after she finished helping someone else. While I waited for my order of 8 revuelta pupusas, there were two other groups who came in to eat and she was kind to them as well. 10 minutes later she gave me my order and I went home to eat them with m family and wow. These are some of the best pupusas that we have ever had. We are always on the look out for good pupusas, and for the longest time our go to was this woman who cooked them out of her house and served them in her driveway and these beat that. We were extremely satisfied. The filling was well seasoned, plentiful and most important, evenly distributed with a few busted spots where you get that crispy cheese edge which is just, chefs kiss. I thought I was going to have pupusas for lunch tomorrow but we ended up eating them all. Please do not let the negative reviews stop you from coming here, you will be happy that you took the chance. She rung me up @ $10.19, sooooo where was she pulling this $12 total from? She didn't even have a register on front of her she was standing by the dine in tables giving me this ridiculous total. This place is terrible. The people taking orders have bad attitudes and treat you like garbage if you don't speak to them in Spanish. The quesadilla I ordered was supposed to come with guacamole, sour cream and salsa, it only had chicken and cheese inside. I had no idea this El Salvadorian restaurant existed until a friend bought me pupusas for lunch one day. I had one that was all cheese and 2 with cheese and loroco. They were so, so good! They came with hot sauce and slaw and literally MELTED in my mouth. Each pupusa was large, I couldn't believe they were only $3.00 each! I can't wait to try all the other flavors I ordered take-out from them today. They quoted me 20 minutes and the papusas were hot and ready when I showed up. First of all. Called this place on the phone since it's close to where I live. First time ordering here. My bf called and placed the order over the phone. The lady who answered was super rude. My bf asked her to review the order to verify the order was correct and she had the order all wrong ended up saying that we were confusing her and to be more clear. My bf asked for extra crispy and before he finished his sentence the lady said the total she said she wanted cash and immediately said BYE. Didn't even let him finish his sentence. When he got home and ate the food we noticed we didn't even get the right order. All seem to be cheese or with very little chicharrón. The pupusas are super bland and thin. They don't have chicharrón at all. This place has the worst customer service plus the food is awful. I don't ever give bad reviews but this place earned it. So we made an order for about 28 Papusas to go and we asked for plates. The cashier said that we needed to leave a $5 tip for the plates... The first time that's ever happen. we order from many other places with big orders every saturday for our office lunch but all the other places give us plates and utensils with out us asking. Anyways let's get into the food. The papusas are fairly good and theres nothing very special about it but good. The hot salsa wasnt spicy like at all. I called in to place a Phone order early on a Monday afternoon I was told on the phone the wait would be 15 minutes upon arriving to the restaurant I waited in total 35 minutes all for the order to be wrong! I was already upset at the lack of communication or apologies due to the long way as I was picking up food on my lunch break her to walking out I checked the order and I specifically asked for two pupusa combo plate meals on the phone however somehow they interpreted that as one combo meal with two Pupusas upon acknowledging the situation the main woman who answers the phone and translates in English was extremely!!
