Read on only if you wish to hear the sordid details.....
Daniel Sanchez of Sanchez Concrete abandoned our concrete project after he received $8,324.33. Daniel subsequently refused to return phone calls or texts.
In August 2013 Daniel Sanchez of Sanchez Concrete entered into a contract to perform some minor Concrete work for me that was to be completed in 30 days (as per the contract).
Daniel Sanchez initially attempted to abandon the project after taking the $6,781.25 deposit. After months of Daniel not returning phone calls or texts, I physically tracked him down and he admitted to attempting to steal the deposit. Eventually, Daniel reluctantly returned to the site requesting that I pay for the concrete because he "had no money left".
Upon Daniel's return, Daniel attempted to get himself fired by not showing up, not performing, cutting every imaginable corner, dragging his feet and throwing a screaming fit when the project engineer repeatedly pointed out how Daniel was fraudulently attempting to not install the correct (specified) size concrete footing, not using the correct type or amount of steel or concrete, etc., etc.
Daniel and his concrete supplier received an additional $1,543.08 in December of 2013 as a goodwill progress payment.
After Daniel received the last $1,543.08 he has again abandoned the project and does not return phone calls or texts.
We have since learned that Daniel had misrepresented his progress on the project and the little concrete work he did perform was of extremely poor quality, was incorrect, was missing critical features and was not what was specified on the plans or in our contract.
As previously stated, my contract with Daniel calls for a 30 day completion and now after 6 months Daniel has again abandoned the project after performing almost no useful work.
Looking back it comes as no surprise that throughout the project Daniel would demonstrate other unprofessional behavior such as: fraudulently cutting corners, attempting to cover up improper/shoddy/incomplete work, throwing temper tantrums, lying, creating and leaving huge messes.
