Thankfully, my wife wrote my name, address, and telephone number on a luggage tag, and looped it around the inside hook. The staff said my name wasn't anywhere on the jacket, but they noticed the tag while searching. I was also looking for the McMurdo winter coat for many years, a very popular jacket, and finally gave up. I found a similar one, and it is very warm, especially for our recent -28 C weather! The rain jacket that I bought a few months ago also came in handy during a massive downpour. I noticed the rain repelled off nicely. This review is not about the quality of their products; it is specific to the Yorkdale store and the retail experience it affords. The store is rather spacious with a decent array of Arcteryx's most popular items on display. There is plenty of room to walk around such that even when the store is busy, you probably won't feel cramped. The first few sections display some of their most popular insulated pieces and shells, e.g., the Cerium LT, Atom LT/AR, and the Beta shells. Moving further into the store you find some pants and all-in-one jackets, as well as other assorted pieces like running gear and lightweight shells. At the very back their climbing harnesses are displayed as well as their "24" collection of urban clothing. I don't think I saw too many packs or other types of enthusiast-oriented outdoor gear at the store, and was disappointed to see that their inventory was rather limited for an Arcteryx retail store. There were a few pieces I was looking for that they did not have. All in all, it seems like the store was targeted to appeal to the masses, the average person walking around Yorkdale. If you're an enthusiast and know what you're looking for, call ahead and see if they have the item in stock. Otherwise, you're better off shopping online where the selection is larger and you're more likely to find discounts. I don't know yet if this store ever runs promos or sales. Service was pleasant and the girl did her best to help me. She had been decently trained but I could tell she was rather lacking in actual real-world experience using most of the products, so she was mostly giving me standard sales pitches and textbook knowledge. This is unfortunate as you can often get more informed service at specialized outdoor retailers like MEC, Sail, Atmosphere, and maybe even Sporting Life.

We were on the hunt for a reasonably priced winter jacket. Although there were some good deals, the sizing and the colour was really hit or miss. There huge sizes left like XXL or XXXLs but not much in the S which we wanted primarily. There was a lot of camping gear and small accessories. The cooler stuff that I haven't seen before included like a pop up tent that doesn't require staking! There were different sizes for these but nothing like the 8 room colossal tents that you can walk through. You can still pick up a lot of smaller things like fountains, food storage bags, waterproof blankets, and other ancillary items.

Last winter I dropped off my board for a sharpen and wax. Only $25. When I got it on the hill, it was awful. I couldn't ride it. The board was really grabby and catching. I took it into the shop at Blue and the guy there said the best for sharpening was Skiis and Bikes in Collingwood which was a bit of a drive away. I enjoyed the afternoon in the village as I couldn't ride it. Later I made the trip to Skis and Bikes and they checked it, told what had gone wrong with the sharpening from Sanction. They were so nice saying it was too bad as someone there must have made a mistake. They put my board on a huge machine and then waxed it and it was done in 30 minutes. I went back to Blue and rode that evening and the board was perfect. Better than when it was new. They felt bad for me and charged me only $15 to fix it up. Sorry Sanction, you might have cheap sharpening but I want good not cheap. read more

There is still one picture posted of the old tiny store. This new showroom is bigger and packed with new items. They now sell all kinds of products and hardware like their display tables and all kinds of nick knacks. It was always the brands that got me hooked on Neon -- Vans, Converse, Doc Martens and now Kodiak boots along with clothes from Element. Their latest signature line is from Fjällräven Kånken in Sweden where everything they make is a hit, all killer and no filler sort of thing. Expensive, but worth it for anyone who is active. Some of their products are more technical in nature but the colours and styles are outstanding and tasteful. They winter coats and jackets make sense for our climate and eschews the down overkill of what you normally see on the streets of To. Neon, glad to have you back!
