Harbor Country Cabins are for those who want to camp, but don't want to do any of the work or sleep in a tent. There are all the perks of camping: serene wooded setting, grills and patio with furniture to dine al fresco, and a bonfire pit (we didn't even have to build the fire.) Then there were added bonuses: screened in porch complete with mason jar lighting and fan, koi pond with lily pads and bull frogs to ease you into sleep, your own clean modern bathroom with plush towels and nice showers, a kitchen with any utensils you may need. This place is seriously unreal with quaint, calm vibes. I left feeling incredibly refreshed, and immediately wanting to book another stay. Dogs are welcome here, and mine seemed right at home. She quickly figured out how to let herself out of the screened porch, and was happy to explore the cabin. Also it's within a 15 minute drive from the Grand Mere State Park with a dog friendly beach. This place is excellent for groups, since the price is very reasonable if you have 4-6 people stay in a cabin. I recommend Harbor Country Cabins to anyone looking for a short summer respite.

I highly recommend this place for those thinking about a family reunion, bachelor party get away, or any other big gathering of approximately 30 people. my wife recently got married. before the wedding ceremony we decided to bring both our large families together for 2 night 3 days at HCC. We worried about a number of things, but it turned out to be a fantastic family gathering. It easily accommodated about 30 of us. My parents brought there fifth wheel, and parked in the drive way. there was plenty of parking. For fun we cooked together (there is a grill, microwave) talked around the fire and we went across the street to the park and played a bunch of games. HCC has a lot of games available for guest already there. the beds were great. it's my kind of glamping - Glamorous camping. my wife and i were worried about the street and traffic noise and danger, but it didn't prove to be a problem. and lastly, Nicollete who runs the HCC, is ridiculously helpful and kind.

We pay premium for a lake front chalet, view of lake is gone what I get to look as is a sand berm with boulders. I understand the lake is higher then usual but adding a five foot berm seem excessive. I also don't understand why I was not told in advance that the view was gone, or a discount was not given as lake front cost is higher then other chalets. Got to say I am rethinking next year

Thankfully their is a restroom because with how long we spent out here, I needed it. I've never used to boat dock, but I've seen it used and people love being able to have access to the water. My favorite is playing tennis with my husband. I've never played softball here because I don't hang out with many people but I enjoy everything else. Lots of space to just enjoy the outdoors. I highly suggest a picnic.

The area is quiet and bathroom is clean even though it's under renovation. It's very close to grocery stores as well. They have a booklet in the cabin talking about the history about this place which is a great touch. My family enjoy the booklet very much! In the tent and RV camping area, I see lots of trees that provides great shades. The price is reasonable but you need to bring your own blanket and pillows. Would definitely recommend.

The campsites were huge with a fire ring, picnic table, and even faucet and an outlet to charge some things. Bathrooms were kept very clean. I loved the proximity to the beach and grocery store. There is a historic site right next to the tent camping area, $3 per person to ride a train and then you get to explore the area. My young kids loved it.

While the previous occupiers of our site hadn't bothered to clean up after themselves, we got it done quickly, and it was no big deal. Always, always, ALWAYS leave your camp site cleaner than when you arrived is our immutable, unbreakable rule. Bethany and Gregory, the owners, are absolutely wonderful hosts; incredibly friendly, hardworking, and welcoming. The site itself was absolutely gorgeous. We chose a primitive site, as we roll heavy with a full solar power array and bring our own water. We were tucked far enough back to give a fair bit of privacy, but were also lucky enough to be near the porta potties, which, trust me, at 4:00 AM, is a very nice perk to have. We were in Spots 3-4, from August 12-18, 2022. Thanks, Gregory and Bethany - you guys were absolutely fantastic! Dune Lake Campground is a very nice, quiet, family oriented campground just north of St…read moreJoseph/Benton Harbor area. The campsites are well situated and clean with level areas for a tent or RV. Many sites are provided with both electrical and water access. The camp has a dump station on site and also has staff who will dump your tanks at your site for a modest fee (so you do not have to unhook and move, then rehookup back at your site during an extended stay). The bath house is an older facility but is kept clean and in excellent condition. Showers are free and hot. The on-site lake is small and very nice for both kids and adults. Access to Lake Michigan is available just minutes away at a public access beach. Across the street is a Nature Conservancy area with several trails. We decided to take advantage of the option to book a site for the whole season (May through September) for our RV. It has been a wonderful decision. We can pack a small bag and be in the RV enjoying the sights and sounds of nature in less than an hour without towing or setting up anything. We really enjoy this area and this campground.

Tent-campers review…read more I grew up camping here, and have brought my kids back to make their first camping memories as well. The park is clean, friendly and most of it is well-shaded. The sandy beach is flanked by picnic tables &benches, and a water trampoline is anchored out a ways for the big kids (and adults) to play on. The bath house is large enough, and always kept clean. The showers are coin-operated but I don't mind giving up a quarter to scrub up. There is a little camp store with all your little incidentals, ice, soda and a decent supply of candy for the kids. They have a large park on site, complete with climbing equipment, a basketball court and even a permanent corn-hole area. Now to explain the 4 stars. Everyone at Timber Trails is very friendly and fun loving, but I wish the staff would institute a noise policy after dark. The kids slept fine due to exhaustion but on a few occasions I was kept awake til after midnight (once til 2am) by rowdy parties on the other end of camp. Their cackling and yelling could be heard over the entire park and nothing was done about it. Timber Trails would be great for RV camping (crank up the A/C to drown out the noise), or even a bunch of hard-partying tenters, but we'll be making memories elsewhere from now on.

That's what keeps this place the way it is. Both of my kids grew up here. They are 23 and 15 now and to this day love coming here. The only down fall is the kids camp next door takes up a lot of the lake at times. So if your a boater be careful. The DNR has no tolerance for idiot boaters.
