As her condition worsened, we were left without guidance or support at a critical time. We ultimately had to fly our daughter home to Wisconsin for emergency care, where the implant was removed and a gum tissue graft was required due to the damage. Both Wisconsin providers involved in her follow-up care independently shared concerns that Dr. Wierus's charting was incomplete and contained inaccuracies, which complicated her treatment. Based on what we were told by subsequent providers, we were also informed that aspects of the original procedure did not align with the standard of care they would expect for this type of surgery. This was an incredibly stressful, painful, and costly experience for our daughter and our family. I am sharing this so others--especially families navigating care for students living out of state--can go elsewhere.

Then I'm told I also need a "deep cleaning." Translation: I came in for a routine cleaning and walked out with a $2,100 treatment plan. Even with insurance, they wanted another $2100+ out of pocket just to get started. And this was after wasting nearly an hour on X-rays due to sheer incompetence. No cleaning was ever performed. The appointment I scheduled literally never happened. The front desk gentleman was polite -- which makes sense when you're presenting someone with a surprise four-figure bill. Maybe not every dental office operates like this, but this one felt less like healthcare and more like a sales floor with drills. I had unexplained pain from several teeth from years or mishandled, poor, and improper prior orthodontic care elsewhere and several other dentists shook it off....well Dr. Heredia found the problem that others couldn't, takes the time to explain everything in detail, and ensures that the proper procedure that you actually need for long term dental health is performed. His bedside manner is phenomenal. You can tell that he is so passionate about dentistry. Lots of other dentists would have either continued to shrug my problem off or make a fortune off me right off the bat and told me I needed things that I didn't and Dr. Heredia is not that kind of dentist. He is an honest man who does right by his patients and is not in the business of making money, he is in the business of caring for patients first and their outcomes. Dr. Heredia will never tell you that you need something that you don't. Dr. Heredia had to extract those teeth and as a young person normally you would be afraid of getting front teeth extracted, but Dr. Heredia put those fears to rest. He had a perfect temporary denture made using impressive technology that that matched my previous teeth shape size color and bite, performed a PAINLESS extracation of multiple teeth using a special tool for dental injections (yes PAINLESS INJECTIONS), and did bone grafting to have the sites be more suitable for implants. I am now on the road to getting implants done by Dr. Heredia where those teeth were. But in the meantime, I am left with a perfect smile that looks and feels the exact same as before and will look even better when the implants are done. I should add his technology and capabilities for implants are amazing, implants are one of his specialties. Days after the extraction I developed an unfortunate and very painful dry socket (not Dr. Heredia's fault) and his team got me in right away in an emergency with no wait and took such good care of me and cleaned it out and ensured I was no longer in pain. I walked in with unbearable pain and walked out perfectly happy. Trust me, Dr. Heredia and his team are the real deal. He is who you want and need as a dentist. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an amazing dentist who will make you feel like part of their family and will get you taken care of promptly. She used laser to remove partial gum to get at the cavity. She did a great job. so far no root canal, since removing partial gum may have exposed the root. She has broken English. She calls a BONE a BUN.. Beware of this. She tends to say OH MY GOD when she sees a deep cavity. I didn't like that, since everyone can hear her. even guests in waiting room. Overly dramatic. Scheduling was problem number 1: these people messed up 3/4 appointments. After the first bit of work was done and when we rescheduled my wife walks in on a meeting during I suppose lunch hours? They apologized and told us to leave which lost us work for no reason.. Then we come back and are told the appointment is fine, she sees the dentist and one of the 2 ladies working on my wife's teeth say to the other: "hey you feeling any better? Still can't sleep and got the sore throat?" DURING FLU SEASONNNNNNN!!!!!! WE ALL GET THE FLU THE SAME DAY INCLUDING MY 80 YEAR OLD GRANDPARENTS. I'm not sure why but we came back again! My wife was just getting over being sick and the exact same dentist says "hey your throat is red I think you're sick and I can't work on you and risk myself" my wife simply said "well you're going to because you guys got me sick, now I cant sleep. I have a fever and my throat hurts. Sounds like what you guys had on my last appointment!" Then they both silently finish the job!!!! I wish this was it but no, we come back in for another follow up because she cut my wife short due to being sick... Then they mess up our appointment again!!! We called same day at 7am and told them heck no. They said well how about 12:10pm. It's all so confusing and ridiculous... We show up they are on the same page as us and do the work. My wife tells the dentist about the situation crying and she pities her, just to reach check out and be told the final payment for her wisdom teeth (total being around $750 with a standing balance of only $70 remaining" is now being charged to $1,750 and that the quote we were given was false. They sent it to her insurance and it was apparently declined months later. So now we have a new balance. I know this insurance is in their network and they are willing to cover this procedure. I was in shock. I immediately thought about how they can't even schedule properly so they definitely just didn't ask for pre authorization orrr maybe it wasn't filed correctly. I was shut down and informed why I'm wrong like everything else, I was told I should have known this prior to the quote. I finally stand some ground for my wife and pipe up after allllll this trouble. I come in asking what the hell is going on and I'm told well you're not the patient I don't have to talk to you. I simply said I'm the car and the money woman. When I speak I will be listened to. Simply. Another assistant comes over. A big lady with a horrible attitude tells me she'll handle this. I ask her if this can go to collections, she said no absolutely not. I asked well can I record you saying that? She says yes. I begin to record and she sits there silently and says I will not say it. My wife, the staff and myself all look around in shock. She argues with me like a sibling for maybe 10 minutes making it almost personal to herself and never once touched the computer to help us do anybting. So I got very rude. She argued till she was blue in the face and smirking scoffing etc and I told her you keep scoffing and you're gonna have a 3rd chin. Suddenly they want police involved.... What a shocker. You argue argue argue... lose, then need police because your feelings are hurt. Funny how someone can do their job so poorly they make you upset. You can explain that you weren't upset the first 3 mistakes but 4 mistakes and a surprise sum of an extra 1,000 dollars is something to be mad about. Here at pelican preserve the customer is always wrong though! Even if the front desk is a sh-show Hence the 1.8 star rating they have! To sum this all up the dentist herself comes over. She explain she's not the best with English but that she's sorry and that the people up front are new and she'll have this figured out for us tomorrow (today as this was written) Do not spend your money here. Also, if you call again to make appointment for the next day to do routine cleaning no one again picks up so you have to physically go to the front desk to make appointment. This is cruel and cost me half a year without treatment for a potentially malignant condition, a serious lapse in timely care. All of the correspondence over months was solely about getting things for insurance and they decide on the last day they are no longer working with my insurance; what are the odds. I have records of my outreach and plan to file complaints with the Florida Board of Dentistry and Department of Health.
