Sandhiks Propane has provided us outsanding service for almost as long as they've been in busines. We started using them, based on the recommendation of a good friend who had just retired from a rival busines. They have never failed us - not once. There have been times when natural forces have caused such bad weather, especially the loss of power in our home that we have had to wait until they could schedule service. At one point, my husband's health was failing and we realy needed service. They provided us with service during those difficult times , even if they had to extend their service hours to do so. Vickie, the office manager and dispatcher in Southern Pines is outstanding and manages to get help to us as quickly as possible. The service staff are all equally capable and absolutely willing to solve whatever problem they're faced with. I cannot imagine customer service problems that I have read about had anything to do with the Southern Pines office. The telephone service is complicated by switching a call to whatever office is available and if the Southern Pines office can't answer answer a call and see that a customer is accomodated immediately, the communication system may be at fault. Every call is directed to the first available office - perhaps that needs revision, but enter 2 for the Southern Pines office to reach them directly. read more

Scheduled an appointment for an estimate. Day of app't - no show. Called the next day, they apologized and had someone out to get the info for an estimate within the hour. Figured the no show the day before was an honest mistake, things happen. Quote was reasonable so I proceeded with the credit check, account set up and scheduled to have them come install and hook everything up. Called the morning I was scheduled to verify they would be there - no show. I ONLY called a week later to see if they planned to reschedule because other companies are all booked way out, was told the service department needed to call me back to give me an update - no call back. Couldn't take 60 seconds to call, text, or e-mail me to reschedule or tell me you can't make it happen. Only positive was Kim, she was really nice. read more

Military beware. Army / Fort Bragg please avoid. Sandhills Propane knowingly will trespass on your property without consent or a contract. Multiple trespassing violations. This is an escalation of force incident waiting to happen. Illustrious customer service refuses to contact for entry, derelict propane specialists vehemently refuse to gain consent to enter - will constantly enter properly (not on contract) without permission / not even contacting property owner at front door. I am in sales and this company uses predatory selling. They knocked on my door and said they needed to check if they owned the propane tank. This is not a leased tank. My wife told them to get off our property and they would not. I had to call the police. read more

Tried to schedule service for a new fireplace they installed in a new home that has never been used and does not work. I was told an appointment could not be scheduled because they are upgrading their computer system and I would get a call back. Still no call back and the follow thru appears consistent with all the other negative reviews. read more

Waited 4 weeks for an appointment to cut and cap a propane line and they no-called, no-showed. Later blamed it on an "emergency". An additional 4 weeks and they came and screwed a cap on and would not trim the line at all. Charged $100. read more

We've been customers of this company for 4 yrs. We've had to call for an emergency propane tank refill 3 times. Now today, again we'll have to call them again for a refill. Their service STINKS. The deliver guys are not the issue, it's the management. They are managed and owned from another company based in Wilmington. They don't hire enough people to take care of their customers. They're supposed to have someone who routinely checks all of their customers tanks and when it goes low, they fill it. Clearly this wasn't handled appropriately on their part AGAIN. So once again, we're left to assume this person doesn't exist.... or worse, the company just doesn't care. Pick another company for your service if you don't want to be left without propane when you need it most. read more

I'm sorry but this company is totally incompetent. If I could give them a zero I would. We have been dealing with their lack of customer service and incompetence way too long. The problem is is that I'm not sure where another similar company is. If there was another company , I would be changing in a heart beat. Horrible!!... . update! There are LOTS of other propane companies in the Sandhills (Southern Pines area) of NC and many of them have 4 and 5 star ratings as compared to this company's 0-1 star rating . from reading the reviews for Sandhills it sounds like there are many people who have had terrible experiences with them. I met the Sandhills Propane driver while he was in our neighborhood & asked him a few questions and liked him. So I called the office to talk to them about starting service. I left 2 messages over the course of 4 days and got no return phone call. On my 3rd attempt when I got through I asked if they had tried to reach me. She said 'no' but said her message light was on but she had not had time to check it. It was 2:30 PM! I asked if someone could stop by and tell me the size of my tank. She gave me a date that was over 3 weeks out. When I asked if a driver could just stop by when in the neighborhood she told me she "couldn't pull a driver off his route." Spare me! All I got was a hard time from them and I was trying to give them some business. No wonder all the reviews are so bad. Save your time - call someone else. That's obviously what I am going to do. read more

We have been trying to contact this company for two weeks regarding our last fill up. Have been ignored or hung up on. According to their cs they don't make mistakes. Our gas usage for the past two years was around 9.7 gallons per month. Our last fill up was over 40 gallons per month. We cannot even get someone to talk to about this issue. Left multiple messages for Brian, the manager, as we were told the only time someone would listen. We are going to file a complaint with the NC regulatory commission and the NC Attorney General. We normally do not write reviews but what we just experienced needs to be told to everybody. Avoid this company like the plague if you can. This is our first experience with Sandhills Propne and it will absolutely be our last cost be danged. Short story: we recently installed a whole home generator and it's been one big cluster you-know-what with Sandhills propane getting their part done. They don't communicate with the customers. At all. YOU will end up calling THEM for things they should have explained up front, followups you didnt even know you needed until you found out the hard way you do, and the people who answer the phones are just awful in terms of knowing who is/has done what on your job. The techs they send out apparently have 1 job each and they're going to have to send multiple people (weeks apart mind you) to finish the job. One guy brings your tank but somebody else makes the connection to your fire place-call the office, they'll schedule it 3-4 weeks. Got a generator too? That's another techs job to connect that but once it's connected he can't turn the tank on: that's somebody else's job (call the office-they'll schedule it 3-4 weeks). Oh, the pilot light went out while all this was going on? We'll schedule it for 3-4 weeks for you. Or, (here's a new one:)-we'll give you the customer a number for a guy we know who can talk you through lighting it yourself. Good luck with these people- you are going to need it read more

Called 3 times to have propane delivered, was given 3 delivery dates and yet 3 weeks later, still no propane delivery. No communication from them and no reason given as to why they cannot deliver. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

I so agree with the other review. I tried for several months to get on their auto refill. I paid $101.41 for them to come out to check my tank and logs, at which time the very efficient and helpful and friendly serviceman, lit my pilot light. They never came out to refill my tank until several calls had been made and my pilot light went out. Now they want another $101.41 just to relight my pilot light. read more
