I love the Tram and the top of the sandias! Yes- it is a bit scary, and yes it is very cold but I will say it is one of the most unique transport experiences I have ever been on and boy is it fun. Whether you are new to the area, or just haven't taken the trip up the mountain in a while it is a must go. Ten3's renovation is super nice, and who doesn't love a big buzz off of one drink due to elevation?! Looking for snow during Albuquerque's heat? Hit the mountain!

This was on our list of places to visit while in Albuquerque. It's definitely worth every penny. I bought the tickets online, @$34 pp and you have to select a time you wish to visit. The times have a two hour window. We came on a Friday afternoon and parking was easy, we waited fifteen minutes in line. It really wasn't that bad. Our tram operator was very knowledgeable and filled us in on all the interesting facts. The views are incredible once you're at the top. There are lots of trails to hike on. We didn't partake in any hiking. It is a little cooler at the top so bring a light jacket or sweater! Enjoy!

We originally came for Sandia Ski in NM but unfortunately no snow at this time of the month yet. However, we felt like we couldn't miss the longest tramway in the USA. I'm glad we got to ride! Just be careful with those who will skip the line coming back lol. The staff in each tram were very knowledgeable. We were slowed down to the highest point which was taller than Eiffel. The tram ride was smooth there are several options to choose what tickets to buy. They do give military discount! Beautiful deck on top where you can walk around. We didn't have time to walk the trails and the restaurant was closed in the morning we went. Still a beautiful spot to enjoy the view, the nature, the wind and the peace. The elevation we started from 6,700+/- and 10,300 +/-

The Sandia Peak Tramway is worth checking out especially for the views. Tickets are $34 round trip (for adults), and the tram runs every 15 to 30 minutes. The ride up takes about 15 minutes and the elevation is nearly at 10,000 feet so it does get a bit cold on the mountain. You are allowed to spend as much time as you like up on the mountain. You can hike the trails, take photos, or eat/drink at their fine dining restaurant and bar called TEN 3. There is also a Sandia Tram Gift Shop on the bottom where you can pick up souvenirs, as well as a coffee shop. I recommend buying your tickets online in advance because sometimes the wait times can get long.

What a fantastic experience...we were very fortunate that the tram was operating due to the inclement weather. None the less we trekked upwards to the peak and have a wonderful day of dining and just spending quality time with my daughter! The staff were all extremely polite, courteous and professional. Enjoyed some incredible views from the trams ascension as well!

Perfect day! The ride was great, not to crowded. The view! A must do if in area. Staff was great

The Sandia Peak Tramway was such a beautiful experience! Although incredibly cold on the night we visited, we had a great time! We arrived and there was free parking along the entryway of the building. The staff was friendly and helpful. They gave us tips to make sure our trip would go smoothly. Overall, I'm really glad I bought tickets for a sunset ride. They're discounted and so worth it!

Wow!! Just wow!! I was a bit nervous as I am afraid of heights but I felt very safe on the tram. The scenery of the Sandia Mtn range is beautiful and the view of Albuquerque is amazing. Worth every penny. Suggest making sure to purchase ticket online as they dont alway take walk ins.

A fun experience in ABQ! Make sure you reserve your ticket ahead of time. The views up here are beautiful and a fun ride to check out. Once you're up there's areas to hike around and a bathroom area. Make sure you check it out if you're in ABQ!

Ventured out after work to the take the tram up the mountain to enjoy the mountain vistas and have a happy hour drink at Ten 3. The ride up was spectacular! When we got to the top we walked some of the trails and saw the ski area. The lifts were scary and ancient. Can't still be in use? Doesn't matter because it's the tram that's being reviewed Ten 3 was ok. A bit overpriced for the pour but the bartender was a master and fun to watch. The ride down was even better. Make sure to bring a jacket. Much cooler up there!

Great view and experience! We bought our tickets online as they ask and you can see the available spots for the time window you are interested in. The tram gets packed at times so be aware - it takes @15 minutes up or down. The temp if @30 degrees colder up top. There are restrooms at the base and top! They had gotten 3 ' of snow 2 days before so brrrr but beautiful. We did have drinks and a snack at Ten3

A great attraction in the Albuquerque area. I learned about it through an advertisement at the airport. It was a relatively quick stop on our way back to the airport. And having a pet won't stop you as they can accommodate them (see pictures). The staff is friendly and the facilities are nice. Some of the narrators could look more professional (like our operator on the way back). A great experience, and for all ages, in New Mexico!

Breathtaking views and heights, we went from an elevation of 6700 Ft to 10,300 ft. The temp was 68 at the lower level and 44 at the top. Hang on if you're afraid of heights

Ask the Community - Sandia Peak Tramway

What is the average wait time in April?

No wait time. We bought tickets online and they closed due to winds.

If you plan on eating at (or about) sunset, how late do the trams run to get back down?

Hi John, the last passenger Tram down the mountain is 10:00pm. For dining information and reservations, visit www.ten3tram.com.

Is there snow tubbing for small kids?

I don't believe they do. The site only mentions hiking. I would suggest calling or emailing them directly.

Is there food to buy once one is up in the mountains or the restaurant open now?

It is now! The new restaurant "Ten 3" was opened about a week ago. I haven't been there yet so I'm unsure as to what the prices are, but one area of the restaurant is for casual dining and the other area is for fine dining. Fine dining in ABQ is… Read more

Is it easy to get an Uber or Lift to drop and pickup from tramway area?

There is a parking fee of $2, so if you don't want to get charge with the vehicle coming in to drop you then you'll have to walk about 1/2 mile (I think...) to the tramway area.

The last time I did it I was scrambling up a steep rock face, and there was a gentleman waiting for me at the top of the rock face who encouraged me by saying, "you are almost at the crash site!" When I told him that I knew because I had been there before, he responded in amazement and asked, "why the heck did you come back?!" Yep, for many, it is that kind of hike! I believe it is rated at 4.8 out of 5 in difficulty, and by the time you finish the last half mile or so you will probably agree. Download a topographic trail (i.e. AllTrails) map on your phone, and you might need to bring an extra power source, because your phone may drain down searching for a cell signal while you lay down electronic breadcrumbs on the digital map. However, there are two places where it is almost guaranteed that you will miss a turn, and add some "bonus" miles. You definitely don't need "bonus " miles on this hike. You pass through at least 2-3 biomes as you ascend and descend. It's an interesting hike, but be prepared to give yourself a pep talk or two along the way Up. Also, expect your legs to be shaky by the bottom. Decending is a lot of eccentric contractions, which only fire about half the muscle fibers as concentric contractions. You can fact check that yourself. This is a hike to build up to. Remember - the best rescue is a self rescue! Have fun, be smart, and be safe.
