This place was so cozy and quaint! They have great customer service! The room was very nice, clean, quiet and cozy! It has a chair to rest in, a table for two, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and sink in the room part. The King Size bed was sooo comfortable! The towels in the restrooms were nice and fluffy. They also add a mat for the tub and a blow dryer! It has literature about the area and places to do fun things and eat! 10 out of 10 in my book! I made a reservation in May via Expedia for mid August. Got a message from them on July 31 that Expedia got the price for the room wrong and they would not be honoring it. The rate Expedia had was $114 a night. The hotel said it should have been $190, but they would give me a rate of $175 for the inconvenience, I tried to contact them, but no answer. I contacted Expedia and they tried to contact them as well but also got no answer. There are limited options since this is a small town and apparently that is a busy weekend, There was only one other hotel that had availability, so Expedia made a reservation there at the original price I was given for the Sandman hotel. The Sandman hotel never did answer the phone, even though the Expedia person tried multiple times over the course of an hour while she was trying other hotels to find availability. So if you make a reservation here beware, they may change their price and leave you stuck. read more

Make sure staff don't disappear with your credit card. I gave them a credit card I had not used in months and they walked into a back room with it to "run it". Within a couple of minutes my bank called about fraudulent charges. I've written a review before, obviously they paid to get rid of it. Don't recommend this hotel. Thieves. read more

The Sandman was such an unexpected delight. We came to town for a funeral and just needed a place to sleep- we weren't expecting such a clean, gracious accommodation. I went to Libby on business and this was not the best. First the door was left open and the room was freezing (October in MT). The door would not lock when I left the room and the manager came in bare feet to try and fix it. He rattled it and said that "I should replace it". The heater was actually was a heat pump and was LOUD and was hard to control the temperature. The blinds did not shut out the light well and was hard to sleep. On the plus side it was quiet without the heater on... The room was clean and bed was very comfortable and the head board looked like authentic Montana logs! This is by far the best place to stay in Libby and surrounding. I was here shooting a movie for several weeks and the staff were wonderful, friendly and courteous. The place is absolutely immaculate - so much so that I found myself constantly cleaning because I was embarrassed the maid would think I was messy... My only complaint would be there could have been more channels on the cable, but you should be out in the wilderness anyway, it's Montana! There isn't a lot of choice in Libby, and most rooms are about the same price. In the "mid-level" (read: "highest" for the area) range, this is by far the best. I've stayed at them all. If it looks like a borderline meth-infested trailer-park motel by the tracks... it is! Don't stay there! Go to The Sandman! read more

Our first trip to this motel was a decent experience. We had an upstairs room that was nice and like one lady said it also had a recliner and a bit of a of kitchen. Microwave, sink, frig. Room was very clean and the hard hardwood floors are nice - no nasty carpet. Bed was comfy. Fast forward to our second stay - we came back to Libby in November. It was during the first snow of the year. the room is clean and much like the other for the amenities. This time we are in the very end room that is part of the single level portion of the motel. You have to fight to open and close the bathroom door. Since it is snowing, there is no way to clean your shoes off before entering the room so we were tracking snow in every time we would come back. I finally put the bathroom floor towel down in front of the door so that we could somewhat wipe out feet. The toilet would hardly flush - it would take 2-3 flushes to clear certain bathroom trips. The bed was same as first visit during warm weather, now it is 30 degrees out and we have one thin blanket on the bed. The heating unit is very old so setting it to a normal temperature to keep the room warm enough has been quite a challenge. Moral to the story, if you stay at the Sandman, make sure you get a second floor room. read more

This place is incredible! My family and I had just driven through the night and arrived at the motel around 8 in the morning. Check in time wasn't until early afternoon but the owner let us use an empty room to rest until our room was ready. The owner, Shane, is a very down-to-earth guy and a pleasure to talk to! He was around any time we needed anything and even came to sit and chat with us about the community and surrounding area. We traveled over 3000 miles on this trip and stayed in multiple hotels, but this one was the best by far! Rooms are very clean and cozy, everything was in working order and the people are great! I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Libby! read more

Lovely and clean. Even had a nice comfy recliner in the room. Wood floors instead of the nasty carpets in some hotels. Nice comfy bed. Pretty good sized room. Great deal for the money !!! They have a almost kitchen area. sink, micro, and fridge but nothing in it at all. Maybe a small set of dishes, silverware would be very nice !!! So, one can actually use the area better. Still a great hotel for the price. A real gem in Libby. read more

This review is for the Sandman Down Under the other location down the road.. My family and I won't be staying there again, we were all quoted $60-69 dollars a night when we each called to make our reservations. Then when we went to check out were charged $80 (he tried charging us more) and that was SUPPPOSEDLY with them giving each of us a $10 off. Mysteriously the owner (Shane?) doesn't know how or why we were all quoted so much cheaper prices then what he was charging us. Basically he made an extra $30 off me, $30 off my sister and $40 off of my dad while trying to make it seem like he was "giving us a discount' Definitely got swindled and don't recommend this place to anyone because of that. Don't expect to pay the price they quote you when booking the room!!!!! They also assured my sister she would have a room with a full kitchen, her and I both have toddlers so its very important, they gave her a room with mini fridge with no sink or kitchen and three small single beds which left no room for the pack'n'play for her son to sleep in. read more

We were scheduled to stay two nights, the room smelled, neither my sister or I felt like we could walk on the floor barefoot, the toilet would not flush without holding down the handle, I had a problem with possibly showering in the tub as it was not clean. We went to bed but ended up getting up about an hour later itching like crazy, we checked out of that room, got a refund for the following night and went to the Venture Inn. When I stopped back by to talk to the manager on Sunday, he assured me he would check out the room on Monday and call me. I called him on Wednesday, he stated the room was perfect and would not give a refund, he stated yelling at me stating "people like you". I use to live in Libby for years, and the Sandman has never had a good reputation, this assured it for me. This is a review for the Sandman Down Under on Mineral Ave. The people who work here are quite nice and friendly. That is the only positive thing I can say. The room I stayed in stunk like very old cigarette smoke, which tells me that it's in the paint, in the furniture, in everything. It was really disgusting. Of course, it's a no-smoking room. Also, this had a kitchenette but there literally was not one piece of kitchen stuff. Not one plate, not one spoon...nothing. How can you use a kitchen without utensils and pots and pans? Next time I'm in Libby I will definitely stay at a different motel. I do not recommend this one. read more

My spouse and I reserved a room at this facility approximately two weeks ago. When we reserved the room we were told the price was $150 for two nights. Today, August 11, 2014 we received a call from the manager, Yvonne Hill, stating that we need to pay $300 for both nights because her housekeeper booked the room and made the mistake. When confronted on why we are being made to pay for her employees mistake her response was, "This is just how we do it. I am sorry she messed up, but you will need to pay the full price or cancel your room." I disputed the ethics involved in her decision as well as the poor business practices with executing said decision. To that she informed me that we could "take it or cancel." She then added if we didn't want to pay then she had 30 other people on a waiting list who would pay the full price. When asked why there were no other options when clearly this was her mistake as manager she replied, "Well, we can refuse service to anyone." When asked how she could refuse service to us when we were the ones getting screwed out of room because of her greed, she only repeated that she could refuse service to who she wanted. I told her I would be reporting her unethical business practices to which she replied, "Go ahead." So our family trip has now been cancelled because she couldn't absorb the $150 error her staff made. There are not other rooms available in this town on this particular weekend, which is why we reserved in advance. Lastly, upon further research we found that this same woman has done this numerous times to other potential customers as well. Why she is still in business is a mystery. read more
