As previous reviews have stated, the new management company (it's been a few years now) and all the renovations and updates to the pools, clubhouse, gym, sauna, sidewalks, parking, new central air units, clubhouse patio area with BBQ and seating, and being able to rent the clubhouse for parties give this neighborhood a resort feel. I can only speak from personal experience, and the management staff has always been courteous, respectful, and attentive. With 700+ units in the development, you have to realize it's a busy office, and people don't usually stop in to the office unless they have a problem or need something (translation: irate). My only wish is that there was a handyman in the neighborhood for my individual, indoor decor work for hire.

Front office staff could do with a bit more customer service training as they are generally not so polite and dismissive (like disrupting their day). Their maintenance dept is on point often fulfilling service requests promptly. One design flaw they cannot help is they built the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors too close to the kitchen. Thus, whenever using the oven or stove, it sets off the alarms constantly. Nice amenities like the clubhouse, gym and dog park. They are a bit too strict with rules and the non-heated pool is only open in the summer months.

My biggest gripe was the noise levels at night and the fact there wasn't anyone that worked for this place to enforce the rules. Guest were sitting on balconies right next to your window chatting and laughing all nite with no care or regard. Then people were smoking when it clearly states that it's not allowed within 25 feet.....once again no one around to call to enforce the rules. One of the staff that cleaned our room when we were gone took a (crap) in our bathroom......when we got back it smelled like air freshener and stunk at the same time . Honestly the place can get a bit noisy at night and the way the cottages are set up your bedroom which is literally placed next to the next balcony. If you are also ok with drunk people knocking on your door at 12:30am waking you up because they are so obliterated they forgot where they live.......then this is the place for you.... For the price we paid I will never stay here again. You can pay the same and have a real luxury and more quiet experience....Shelter island is surrounded by views and water and this place doesn't have anything that I would desire to come back to.
