Instead of jumping straight into recommendations or upselling, he immediately tried to fix it on the spot. Once he confirmed it was repairable, he quickly cut the string, replaced the tuner, and got everything back in place. The whole process took less than 10 minutes! I live in Carson, so driving out to Lakewood and getting it fixed the same day was such a relief. This guitar isn't for professional use--it's for my daughter who's just starting to learn--so having it ready right away saved me a lot of time and hassle. He even tuned it by ear in seconds, which was really impressive. Overall, a smooth and pleasant experience. Steve was super nice and easy to talk to which made the whole experience smooth from start to finish. My boyfriend had P90s installed in his Les Paul and needed it back in time for a gig, and Steve delivered! On my BC Rich he dialed everything in perfectly the intonation is spot on! the action feels just right, and the neck adjustment made a huge difference in how it plays. It's not easy to find someone who works this fast and still pays attention to all the details, but Steve definitely does. I wouldn't hesitate to bring any of our guitars back to him, we live in Long Beach and his shop is so close to us another plus!

I took my Ibanez RG in to Steve for his "Rockstar Setup," and I can honestly say it was worth every…read morepenny! I've had plenty of basic setups before, but this felt like a whole different level of attention and care. He walked me through what makes his Rockstar Setup different and you can tell it's not just a quick adjustment, it's a full dial-in of the instrument. When I got my guitar back it played incredibly smooth, stayed in tune better, and just felt more responsive overall. Anything and everything that could be oiled or lubricated was taken care of. The amount of work and detail that goes into the rockstar set up actually takes a few days and I guess depending on the condition of your guitar the longer it takes. My guitar had a lot of rust on the bridge and tuning keys. One of the saddles was even frozen in place and I couldn't get the string out. Steve took care of it. I didn't even notice how bad the condition of the guitar was in until I saw all of the photos Steve took. (Before and after). Who does that? It's hard to describe, but it actually made me want to pick it up and play more. Everything felt tighter and more precise without sacrificing comfort. The smell of the oil on the bridge and the lemon oil on the neck actually smell good too! You can tell Steve takes pride in going beyond the standard setup and really bringing out the best in the guitar. If you're on the fence about upgrading from a regular setup I'd definitely recommend going for it. I'll be sticking with the Rockstar Setup from now on.

Bill is a true musician/artist, through and through, and opens up the rest of the rooms after the class for your kiddos to explore. you don't have to worry about "oh no, what if my kid touches something??" Bill welcomes kids to explore and play --- incredibly inviting environment. Julie did a wonderful job creating a sense of community in the class. she has an amazing voice, and engaged us in some fun songs. After some songs, my daughter would say "more!". The only part that made it a little tough was that the sound was quite loud and so was Julie's voice, so it actually made my daughter cry a couple of times (she is a bit sensitive to noise, though!) Took me a while to get this review up but I thought I might as well since I've been active today on Yelp! This academy goes above and beyond. The teachers are kind and my kids love it here. Super nice academy and when I sit in on their lessons, my kids are so so happy! I have a little on at home and want them to be more involved since they're not all about sports at the moment. Honestly 10/10. We chose here instead of a local place because of some concerning rumors and we couldn't be happier!

With the golden setting sun, it was the perfect city-and-not-quite-bucolic park combo for gentle jazz. We had not heard of this group of young players before. Actually we chose to come here rather than another event due to it's close proximity to the restaurant where we would be eating. Were we surprised! This is a highly competent jazz band. Or bands. Jazz Angels Charles Mingus & Blue Mitchell Bands was how they were billed. Extraordinary that the players are, for the most part, all teenagers. Tatiana Tate who has been playing trumpet for ten years and now professionally, joined the band. Her playing was excellent, however, physically she could be mistaken for a teenager herself. Led by Barry Cogert, the music director, they did beloved standards such as Watermelon Man. Also great baritone saxophone. Some beautiful smooth singing as a bonus. The musical talent found in Long Beach continues to astound me. I purchased a logo tee shirt, mostly as a donation to this fine organization, but also this might have been the last cool evening for a while and I was inadequately dressed. Very convenient.
