We were in Long Beach for a month or so, and I wanted to take advantage of our time here. It's definitely been tough during the pandemic, and so we were a bit cautious of an in-person music class, but definitely glad that we went ahead and participated. Our daughter was about 18 months at the time, and I would say that overall, she really liked it! It's a bit on the pricey side, honestly, but if your kiddo isn't normally exposed to live music or musical instruments, I would definitely check it out. Bill is a true musician/artist, through and through, and opens up the rest of the rooms after the class for your kiddos to explore. you don't have to worry about "oh no, what if my kid touches something??" Bill welcomes kids to explore and play --- incredibly inviting environment. Julie did a wonderful job creating a sense of community in the class. she has an amazing voice, and engaged us in some fun songs. After some songs, my daughter would say "more!". The only part that made it a little tough was that the sound was quite loud and so was Julie's voice, so it actually made my daughter cry a couple of times (she is a bit sensitive to noise, though!) My husband is a musician of sorts, so our daughter has been exposed to several instruments already, but this place has quite a few more :) read more

YES A GOOD MUSIC ACADEMY!! So my family has been trying to find a good music academy. We finally found one after tons and TONS of researching as well as referrals and I cannot be more please. Took me a while to get this review up but I thought I might as well since I've been active today on Yelp! This academy goes above and beyond. The teachers are kind and my kids love it here. Super nice academy and when I sit in on their lessons, my kids are so so happy! I have a little on at home and want them to be more involved since they're not all about sports at the moment. Honestly 10/10. We chose here instead of a local place because of some concerning rumors and we couldn't be happier! read more

What an amazing music school! They have a very personalized approach to teaching music. You will love the first introduction class. This is a uniquely special 5 star review...I was calling schools, school districts, music teachers, piano lesson companies, churches, and performing companies and did not get a single return call or email. Until calling here and speaking to Bill! I had a beautiful piano with seat and light to donate and could not get rid of it. I even posted it on Offer Up and Next Door. I asked friends and had them ask people. Anyway, Bill said he'd tell parents of the children here and see if they'd want it. Unfortunately, I needed it gone so a day or 2 later I was about to have it "hauled away" :-( when Bill introduced me to the mom of a little girl via text. The day after she came and seen how beautiful it is and the next morning we paid to have it go to her and my tenants are moved into my place and everyone is happy! Thank you, Bill! As a mostly self-taught musician, I was convinced that formal lessons weren't necessary. Boy was i COMPLETELY wrong. Bill and the teachers here really know what they're doing, and have no problem teaching even advanced players like me. If you're on the fence, definitely do it. I've recommended this place to everyone I know. Plus, the prices are really good for the quality. Go online and book a tour, seriously. I am in the process of achieving my dream of playing guitar and writing a song. I tried to learn guitar via internet videos for three month (twice). It did not work out. I decided that I need teacher who can provide me feedback and help me work on my weaknesses. The personal coaching fees are very competitive. I know a lot of these (well-earned) positive reviews are about kids learning to play instruments or sing. However, as an adult who finally decided to stop making excuses and learn how to play an instrument (something I've been thinking about for years now), I have to say that I couldn't be more happy with the results. The owner, Bill and his staff are extremely supportive and very patient with students of all ages and abilities. Last month, for the first time I played a song on guitar for my oldest daughter on her 6th birthday. She was over the moon! Now, I can't wait to bring her in for her first lessons. I suggest you visit them and take a tour of the academy for yourself or for your children (bring the kids with you!). They don't try to pressure you into anything like some other places I've visited. I started taking adult band lessons a few months ago. I'm having a lot of fun and learning how to perform. I also just began guitar lessons to expand my skills. James and Bill are excellent musicians and teachers. I am amazed at their musical abilities. The academy has excellent facilities. There are many types of instruments available including guitars, amplifiers, pianos, and drums. There are a number of practice rooms. I like being able to use microphones during the band practices. Oh. My. Goodness. I brought my super shy 12 year old daughter (who speaks in a voice so whispery I have to strain to hear her sometimes) in for private voice lessons with Nura. It was amazing! Nura is so warm and encouraging. I mean, really. This woman is amazing! Voice lessons quickly became one of my daughter's favorite activities each week. She made huge strides in her range and ability and it was amazing to see her confidence soar. The entire staff here are great; friendly and engaging and fun. So thankful for these guys! read more

Great place! Our 5 and 3 year old are enrolled in classes and love it. They show a variety of instruments and the philosophy for the child's success is through enjoyment and personal choice. Our 5 year old is learning piano and voice is always excited to go back. Our 3 year old is in the discovery class and we have a great time playing together and singing. Enthusiastic and talented music teachers. They also connect people with other musicians who have similar experience for group music and band play. Lastly all of the rooms have glass doors and video, so as a parent we can observe without being in the way and know that our kid is safe. Searching for a somewhere for my daughter, who's 6, was getting to be annoying. I felt there were music classes for tiny children under 6 And for adults everywhere. I came across On Stage by searching the area on yelp! And I couldn't be happier! We visited the website and easily set an appointment for a tour! I was expecting to walk in and listen to someone tell me how great everything is there and hand over my credit card. Wow was I wrong! We spent an hour and a half their with bill. Visiting each room they have! The first room they had a piano and some other instruments. He had my daughter sit down and just play for fun! She's never had lessons or anything, she was shy. He sat with her and started playing, it encouraged her to just have fun and play! They sat together and played on the piano for about 20 minutes. We continued the tour and saw other instruments and each room was just as fun as the last. She got to play different drum sets, guitars, and see their recording room as well as sing her favorite Montana song while he played the piano with her! We enjoyed this tour so much! And can't wait for her to start her class here and continue her journey here! read more

Starting month 2 of guitar lessons for my teenage son. The instructors have been dedicated and taken time to find out his interests and style. They have been very flexible with scheduling lessons to fit our busy schedule. There has been a good balance of fun and learning technical information. They make themselves readily available for questions in between lessons and have online support to help maximize their practice time at home. Came here for the first time today and I have to say I was apprehensive about it. I have taken lessons elsewhere and the teachers just never really listened to me. A totally different story here. I am a vocalist but never got into instruments. My father had put me in lessons for years as a child but I never stuck with anything. I have always dreamed of playing the guitar. I told Bill about my fear of messing up and not picking up playing the guitar fast. He said for our first few lessons he would teach me his new method. It was a ton of fun and the music sounded great! I'm a beginner but I want to be advanced. He showed me chords that were easy and we even wrote a little song. I am sticking with this school. The rooms are great, the vibe is stellar, teachers are attentive and most importantly I felt comfortable! I rented a guitar from them with the option to buy down the road. I am all ready! My 9 year old son wanted to start drums so I took him to On Stage and he has learned so much in the last 6 weeks! They discovered he was a lefty drummer and were able to instruct him how to switch it up when the drums aren't set up for a lefty. Highly recommended!! I started taking guitar lessons here about six months ago. As a self-taught YouTuber, my playing and understanding of music has really taken off into areas I would have never been able to get to on my own. Bill and his staff of expert musicians and vocalists have been awesome! I started my musical journey very late in life, but this school is perfect for all ages. I am learning to really play the instrument through the songs and genre (classic rock) that appeal to me. Bill also ensures that I receive enough music theory to connect the dots and understand what sounds good and why. Recently I joined the beginner adult band and we are having a blast. And...I never sang before, so I started sprinkling in a few vocal lessons along with my on-going guitar lessons.
