As soon as I walked into the store, a staff member greeted me and offered help--even though he looked busy handling some paperwork. He asked what I needed, and I explained that my acoustic guitar had a broken peg tuner. I already had the replacement part with me, so I handed it over. Instead of jumping straight into recommendations or upselling, he immediately tried to fix it on the spot. Once he confirmed it was repairable, he quickly cut the string, replaced the tuner, and got everything back in place. The whole process took less than 10 minutes! I live in Carson, so driving out to Lakewood and getting it fixed the same day was such a relief. This guitar isn't for professional use--it's for my daughter who's just starting to learn--so having it ready right away saved me a lot of time and hassle. He even tuned it by ear in seconds, which was really impressive. Overall, a smooth and pleasant experience. I brought my slide trombone in to get repaired. There was a few dents at the end of the slide and the inner slide had separated from its handle so needed to be resoldered. I was given an estimate of $80-180. I told them there was no hurry to fix my trombone and a week later they called me to pick it up. Eveything fixed plus the calcium build up on the inner slide was also removed. All this? $100! I was amazed at the price. I felt like that was a super great deal. Otherwise, this place is mainly a string instrument place with tons of violins and lots of cases especially for cellos. Some really nice hard cases and they were so light! I needed to get an old 1930's flute repaired due to leaky pads. The flute technician, Scott recommended that I get it fully overhauled. I followed his advice and I'm happy I did. This flute plays like a brand new instrument! The tone and response are phenomenal. Scott was up front about how much the repairs would cost and gave me an accurate time estimate, as he had other jobs ahead of mine. Scott advised me the repair comes with six months of free adjustments as needed, which I did not know about when I brought my flute in. The staff of the entire store was polite and professional. This is a breath of fresh air because a nearby competitor declined to repair my flute. The same competitor botched an easy repair job on a saxophone I brought them. My 8-year-old daughter is taking beginning guitar lessons in September through an after school program. Not knowing where to start, I took a chance on Morey's Music Store in Lakewood. It has already paid back in dividends. After milling around for a while waiting for a staff member to become available, I was helped by a gentleman who grabbed everything for me - a 3/4 classical guitar ($189.99), tuner ($29.95), footstool ($25.99), lesson book ($8.95), and a padded guitar bag ($35). By the time I checked out with a very nice lady, it was only after I walked outside that I realized they gave me a discount on nearly every single item totaling in $95. Plus, they gave me (I mean my daughter LOL) a cute little Morey's luggage tag. That's very much appreciated especially during a seemingly never-ending pandemic (COVID-19). Maybe I don't know a thing about the guitar, but I don't have to when these folks are such kind and eager-to-help professionals. Note that on Saturday afternoons, they are really busy. Definitely call ahead or check their hours before you drive there. They are currently closed on Thursday and Sunday. The store was clean and organized. Ample parking is available around the back. My daughter is extremely excited to begin lessons and loves the color and quality of her new guitar. I've been playing piano for 23 years and I never really got into playing anything else until this summer. My friend left their guitar over at my home and I started trying it out. Music is such a beautiful thing in that you develop your ear while learning the feel of it as well. This is to say - my fingers were not cooperating with me and I sounded awful. After a month of doodling on the guitar I felt like I was starting to get a hang of it when my friend came over and took their guitar back! I was so saddened by this that I decided to get myself a guitar. This is how I found Morey's. I much prefer to shop local, but sometimes you don't get the convenience of shopping online. Well, Morey's was a great reminder of why I prefer local. I called and they let me know I could come in and try out the guitars. Very professional and helpful. From the outside it looks a bit rundown but very nice on the inside. My kids take piano lessons in the neighborhood and their teacher uses books from here. Seems a bit intimidating when you first walk in because there's so many different areas of instruments and music to be found but the employees were quick and kind. We had a great experience at Morey's. We purchase my sons first intermediate Cello which they included the bow and bag. Everyone was so sweet and helpful as it wasn't easy for my son to pick his instrument out. They showed us a room so he could work with each Cello and that helped him decide which one he wanted to go with. At 41, I decided to start a new hobby and learn the violin. This is actually something I've wanted to do for a long time but have never taken the initiative. As a result, I needed to procure a violin. My instructor pointed me in the direction of Morey's, and I made an impromptu run over there right before closing. The staff was super accommodating, and they set me up with a violin, a bow, a shoulder pad, and some rosin. They even taped the first three finger positions for me. During my first lesson, my instructor was dismayed that the violin wasn't tuned before it was handed over to me, but from what I understand, this isn't the norm. read more

A wonderful experience at the Morey's Music Store today. Brought our grand daughter to pickup the flute. She is in third grade and chose the flute to learn. After making arrangements by phone and having used Morey's as a long time provider of music instruments, we got the ok to pick up the flute. Grand daughter was very happy seeing how compact the black case is. She was thinking it would be large and heavy because her brother did the saxophone and her older sister did the clarinet.
