On my third visit to Zhao something went wrong and when I left the lower part of my face was quite numb. This got worse. Zhao said she couldn't understand what had happened, and that nothing like this had happened before. The numbness moved to the left side of my face and left side of my mouth. It continues now, two months after the session that caused it. I have seen a neurologist, who said it might go away, or it might not. To anyone considering acupuncture, my advice would be to think hard about it--it can damage you. To anyone considering seeing Xingning Zhao, I would say, Don't.

It's easy to see that Liz is very knowledgeable about acupuncture and the human body. She explained what she would do during my appointment and answered all of my questions. Liz - and the relaxing sounds and decor of her office - put me at ease right away. First - acupuncture! She inserted a few needles in my hands, face, and legs, and left me to relax. I thought I would be too alert to fall asleep, but I got used to the feeling of the needles after a moment, and the next thing I knew, Liz was back to remove them. Next - Gua Sha. Liz knew about my tense neck and shoulders and suggested this treatment. I Googled it in advance, so I knew I'd have a lot of red/purple coloring in my neck and back. I am very red, but it's worth it! My neck and shoulders are moving much more freely. I already made my next acupuncture appointment. My masseuse (who I believe was Jessica) was great, and was able to talk me through her plan of attack once I described my symptoms. After just 30 min, I feel significant relief in my neck and shoulders- she was very knowledgeable and professional, and did an amazing job. As for the office overall, it is a bit confusing to locate- once in the elevator, you need to press "M" (not 5) to get to the mezzanine level. As other reviews indicate, you are able to hear what's going on outside your room because the room walls do not reach the high ceilings, but this didn't bother me. My room was private, warm and cozy. I also liked that she didn't use a crazy amount of scented oil- sometimes I've left massages feeling like I need to shower. I was able to use my Student ID for a discount, and I did see that there were some specials offered on the Yelp page. I was also asked to pay cash (I believe their machine was down) but they told me this when I made my appointment so I had time to run to the ATM. No other massage can even compare to these - Victoria is caring, perceptive, and knowledgeable and put me at ease immediately on both visits. Plagued by lower-back pain every few months, both massages have done wonders for my back and the rest of my body. A few other things: they are extremely accommodating with online vouchers. No hassles whatsoever. Scheduling is a breeze (I was able to make both appointments during the week after work). A few other reviews mention the business being in an office - it's since moved to another part of the same building and it's a huge step up: dim, quiet, and a perfect atmosphere for a massage. Really lucky to have a place like this so close. Can't recommend it enough.
