When we walked in, a manager--large in stature--was leaning over a much smaller young lady working the register, screaming in her face. From what little we heard, we easily figured out he was angry that she went to someone else (possibly the owner) with an issue. "I AM THE MANAGER OF THIS STORE... YOU SPEAK TO ME...!!!!!" The young lady could only mutter, "Yes, sir," as she buried her head in her chest and stared at the floor. We were so mortified and shocked that all I could do was look at and address the girl, ignoring the man as he quickly changed his tone and tried to address me. I've been kicking myself ever since for not saying something to him right then and there. When we were done at the beach, we stopped back in the store to check on her. We caught up with her just as she was leaving through the back door. I asked if she was okay and told her that he cannot speak to her like that--that it's workplace harassment, an abuse of power, etc.--and encouraged her to tell the owner. She immediately said no, clearly fearful of that suggestion. Why wouldn't she be, after the manager was basically threatening her? I asked if I could contact the owner, and she declined that as well. Again, understandable. Meanwhile, the manager was standing at the back door watching us. Once I saw him, I told her not to worry about giving me the name. I said if her manager asked what I wanted, she could just say I was thanking her for selling me the sweatshirt. Later that day, still really uncomfortable with the idea that this could be ongoing, I spoke to Carlsbad PD, mostly to see if there was a way to get the owner's information. There wasn't. But at least now there is a report of all of this, so if they do fire her for anything related, or if things get worse for her, there's documentation of it.

The worker who works there is really nice and when they used to give out free tokens when we didn't have enough to share them equally, he would give us an extra one. They have many anime figures there and little stuffed animals and multiple gonzo shirts, hoodies, and hats. The price is OK, considering the quality of their products and the fact that you can win something that cost $15 in a claw machine that you only have to spend two dollars for a play.

So there is a bit of a wait to let the candle settle after making it but we just walked around a bit and still were able to take out candles home same day. I mixed mango coconut and pineapple together and it smelled so good! We threw some glitter into the soy wax mix because obviously we had to and we even got to design our own labels which turned out so cute. The candle needed an hour to cool so we went off and explored the area and then came back to top them off with some stones. They turned out so pretty omg! The price was worth it! Oh and since I was giving mine as a gift one of the staff members tied a little ribbon on my bag without me even asking which was such a sweet touch.
