Came here on a Sunday evening with a friend. We just happened to drive by and we were so excited to do something crafty. The employee working was super nice and helpful. They have so many jar options to choose from and different price options. Loved all the scents they had available to choose. I think the only basic they didn't have was plain vanilla. They had other options but it was mixed with something else. All the other scent options great! The $5 add on for sea shells or stones for the top of your candle is a fun edition! We were able to add these half hour after making the candle. So there is a bit of a wait to let the candle settle after making it but we just walked around a bit and still were able to take out candles home same day. There is a two day wait after making it until you can use it. It's totally worth it. So much fun! read more

My friend and I randomly stumbled upon this place while wandering around Carlsbad Village and honestly it was such a vibe! Super fun and lowkey therapeutic which was exactly what we needed. The staff were awesome, super friendly, and walked us through everything step by step. We got to pick our own vessels and scents which was honestly the best part. I mixed mango coconut and pineapple together and it smelled so good! We threw some glitter into the soy wax mix because obviously we had to and we even got to design our own labels which turned out so cute. The candle needed an hour to cool so we went off and explored the area and then came back to top them off with some stones. They turned out so pretty omg! The price was worth it! Oh and since I was giving mine as a gift one of the staff members tied a little ribbon on my bag without me even asking which was such a sweet touch. Great time making candles! My friend and I picked out our vessel and scent, and even got to add glitter. You can also add decorations like shells and pretty stones on top of your candle. It takes about an hour for it to dry, and they hold it for you so you can pick it up later. I recommend grabbing lunch nearby and walking around. It's a beautiful area where you can walk to the beach and enjoy some tasty food. The staff recommends waiting two days before lighting the candle. They were super helpful, and while it cost a bit more, it makes sense for the area. It was a great experience overall, and the staff was really nice. The ladies there are all very helpful. There are a lot of scents to choose from, so it can be a bit overwhelming. They can give you suggestions on popular scents or making your own special scent. They help you with every step. For the basic candle with many containers to choose from it's about $42. They also have larger containers. The bigger, the more money, of course! We chose to add some stones and shells on top for an extra $5. It was about $50 all said and done. We did one together for our anniversary. It was fun and a nice memory for the occasion. read more

My family had a good time here celebrating Mother's Day. We had a reservations for 5 and were set-up once our entire party was present. Our candle gal was nice, she reviewed the process and provided us steps to complete our candles. Love! Love! Love! I had a great experience at Candle Bar from start to finish. It was very easy to book a reservation online. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the young lady in the store. She explained the process, we got seated, and within an hour we were walking out of the store with our beautiful candles! The candles run from $24-36 each plus $4 if you'd like to add gems and stones on top. For customizable candles, the great customer service and advice, and the variety of options they have, the price is fair. They have every color available for your vessel and there are over 20 scents to mix and match. If you bring back your empty vessel, you can pick another scent and wax for 50% off! They even include free of charge a personalized candle label to put on the front of your candle! Note: after you mix your scent, you will have to wait 30-60 min for your candle to solidify in the freezer. But there are so many restaurants, stores, and the beach within walking distance, you'll have plenty of things to do while you wait. There are many 3 hr free street parking options nearby. So I had gotten a gift card from my bfs family to come and make candles here . I took my mom and we had a good time picking awesome scents and fun candle holders to make our candles. The main downside I'm experiencing is soot from the candle. I've been lighting the candle for the past two days for a couple hours during the day, and today is the second day I've had it lit. My bf and I go to blow our noses and we have black snot (TMI) and our apartment is super smoky. We haven't cooked today so we were so curious why we had this colored snot. I did some research and found out it can be due to poor quality wax and long candle wicks. I'm just coming on here to warn some people about it because soot is inhaling tiny carbon particles can be bad for the lungs. They have tons of scents to choose from (including Anthropologie's volcano scent! Iykyk). Everything was extremely customizable from the jar, the scents, and even a label you could add to the jar. Every step of the process was customizable from the vessel, scents, wick, and label. You can also add toppings like rocks, shells, and glitter. I usually get candles and they don't smell but once I got my candle home and just took the lid off, it made my whole house smell so good. Very accommodating staff and affordable. Our group walked into the store very much looking forward to the experience, and we were met with disappointment. The worker was less than inviting, very soft spoken and our group did not receive the full instructions for what to do. The workers constantly switched at different parts, likely not knowing what the other had or hadn't mentioned... we were not even told about adding a label? Only at the end when we were being rung up did one of the other workers ask another worker if we had labels... to which she said no, but, we weren't offered any or did we know anything about a label. Took my two children there to do a fun activity over the weekend. Was immediately greeted by pleasant, helpful, and patient staff (I didn't get a chance to catch the two young ladies' names, but they were great with us). They gave us clear instructions on what type of vessels they had to choose from, as well as pointed out their large selection of scents to choose from. After making our decisions, they poured in the hot wax and then told us they'd be ready in about an hour - plenty of time for us to grab a quick snack. After the snack, we arrived back to complete our candles by adding "toppings" (smooth shiny stones sea shells of various sizes and colors, but for an additional cost) to them, and then they were carefully wrapped and handed back to us to complete our experience.
