This review is long overdue for SAE. I hired them in 2023 for my wedding reception in 2023. I communicated mainly with Jay and Kenny from the team, and both were very responsive and on top of things. I chose them due to their online portfolio and the MC's ability to speak fluently in both Cantonese and English. They did a great job switching back and forth throughout the party. The DJ did their best with the music/hyping up the crowd, seeing as both my partner and I aren't too big on dancing, so it was hard to pull in a crowd on the dance floor without us. However, there were some good dancing moments. I didn't have a wedding planner, so I planned out the timeline with the help of SAE's input as well as my photographer's. We started our search for a DJ/MC for our wedding with one main priority: someone familiar with Asian culture. If you search for that in the NYC/Long Island area, Sang Along immediately pops up with tons of highly rated reviews -- and for good reason. That was enough for us to give them a shot, and they did not disappoint. I had a pretty clear vision for our reception: 2000s R&B during dinner, EDM to get the party going, and Hip-hop/K-pop to close out the night. Jay did an incredible job blending the song suggestions we gave him with tracks from his own arsenal -- I was genuinely impressed by how well it all flowed. Kenny ran the room flawlessly. He worked seamlessly with our photographer and Maître d', and the transitions between dances, bouquet toss, dress changes, and everything else were smooth and well-timed. He even translated some parts into Mandarin for my cousins visiting from Taiwan, which was such a thoughtful touch. Sang Along has been doing this for nearly 20 years, and it absolutely shows. If you're a young couple who loves music, goes to festivals, and has sat through weddings where the DJ just blasts Top 40 and Pitbull to make up for low energy -- don't worry. After speaking with Kenny, we felt confident that SAE could provide us with what we were looking for. SAE gave us an excellent fusion of a traditional Chinese-styled banquet with Western Style entertainment. We had selected Kenny as our MC since he was fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Kenny has an excellent ability of keeping the night flowing smooth and upbeat. The music selection was excellent, and implementation of our custom-selected songs was fantastic. SAE listens and works with your demands and offers excellent suggestions. Aside from the MC/DJ package, we had also selected their photo-booth and stage decoration package - this included decoration of the bride and groom's sweetheart table along with the reception table and runway. The setup was immaculate and proved itself again once we received out photos from the studio from the wedding night. Well worth the cost. SAE are on point. The DJ's here got the job done and it was nice to have a one-stop shop for a DJ, lighting specialist, and make up artist. 1. The DJ'ing: The music at the wedding was actually very good and got everybody up and dancing. The DJ was playing to a young, mostly Asian American crowd at my wedding and I think they got the right vibe. Not too many slow songs, no cheesy music, no macarenas or electric slides. 2. The MC: Our MC was a guy named Al, who was very helpful and worked with us the entire night to set up the schedule and order of events. They have some interesting ideas ... like "games" to get the crowd going. It was kind of cheesy, and I'm now embarassed to show people pictures... "Yes, people were throwing bean bags at my wedding" but he did know how to get the crowd going. 3. The Lighting: Very affordable to some draping and backlighting put up for the wedding, which was very nice. They will try to push all this other crazy stuff on you, like LED lights, fog, etc - which I think is kind of excessive and vetoed. Nevertheless, I was kind of pissed that they still used that smoke/fog stuff at the reception... during our first dance! Ruined our pictures... :( and I think it was the biggest mistake they made. 4. Makeup: I actually had my makeup done through Sang Along since I was too lazy to find another make up artist and they offered to come to our hotel. It is the mom of the owner of the company (her name is Venus) and she was actually quite good. You will have to tell her and her hairdresser SPECIFICALLY that you don't want sparkles, purple eyeshadow, feathers in your hair etc (because yes, there are some Asian brides who DO like that stuff) and everything will turn out great because she really does know how to do make up that looks natural and stays on for the whole night. read more

I'm so amazed and happy with Kenny's crew. Kenny helped us out every step of the way. We booked a package with him which included music, lighting, cake table and reception table design. They did such a fantastic job. They were at the venue on time, on point, and efficient. They not only did their own set up but, they even helped me place our centerpieces on guest tables and our table cards too. I was short handed and they jumped right in. He answered every single one of my questions in detail and provided his several suggestions. He never pushed anything on us, which was a huge relief. He was reassuring whenever I brought up concerns and he absolutely delivered. Our MC, Cedric was sharp and charming but not in a phony way. He was warm and engaging. I didn't know what to expect since our wedding is Asian Fusion. Half of our guests are very traditional Chinese and the other half are Americans. Kenny and Cedric appealed to all of our guests and our guests had a blast. They guided me through the schedule and was attentive the entire time. I cannot thank them enough for everything that they did. No matter what was thrown in their way (including some rudeness from the venue manager), they were polite and professional to everyone. I was upset with the treatment that Cedric got from the venue manager but Cedric handled himself so well. I was very impressed and relieved. We just had Sang Along (MC and DJ services) for our wedding on 9/6/14. The pre-wedding meetings (3 meetings) were smooth and comprehensive. They have a vast bank of songs to choose from, and actually made some good recommendations. On the wedding day, we did not have time to meet with the MC and DJ. Sang Along Entertainment was one of the best vendors we had worked with for our Memorial Day Weekend (5/25/14) wedding! I had contacted them about a year out from my wedding, and had great communication from then until even now, a month after our wedding, with Jay, who handled the sales inquiry. He was super nice to work with, and was very responsive to emails (I was planning the wedding long distance and actually never met the team person until less than two weeks before my wedding). He was very nice with handling any concerns we had. We had met with MC Cedric and Jay for our final meeting, and they were very easy to talk to. We were having a Chinese-American wedding, and it was very important to me that our dj/MC spoke great Cantonese well as English. They went over everything with us that night, and even offered suggestions for games in case our guests were not the dancing type. At that point, we had just let them know we were having a Pokemon themed wedding (yes, you read that right!), and they both got incredibly excited and came up with more ideas to help with our theme. On the day of the wedding, they were super accommodating and all our guests loved the entertainment. They officiated our tea ceremony for us and kept the crowd engaged and happy the entire night! Sang Along was great to work with. We told them what we wanted and they gave us a discount for booking their services. Our emcee Cedric was good and although we were a little rushed, he kept us on time. For example, he told us to take pictures and be back by a certain time, so we would be on time for the introduction during the reception. There is a reason that you have to be rushed so everything can run on time. We were also able to choose 2 games to play with the guests as an ice breaker. We only got to play 1 of them because we were running out of time and people didn't really need any ice breaking, as everyone was dancing and having a good time. We were happy with the music selection, the tea ceremony (we told Sang Along that we wanted a friend to hold the tray and tea cups to hand to us but they had someone on their crew at first doing it. After a quick reiteration and explaining the mixup, the friend got to do this special thing for us). We also requested for a specific song to be played and announce that it was my in laws wedding song. When the song played, it was not announced but people still danced to it, including my in laws. The photo booth was a great hit and we love the scrapbook. We also booked our photographer (Vincent) through Sang Along. I had a great time at my wedding because Kenny was guiding my husband and me along each part of the night on top of his duties as an MC. He made sure I did not have to worry about anything except to enjoy my time as he worked diligently with the photographers, maitre D, and DJ to ensure that the night flowed as smoothly as possible. He always came to discuss with me on when I should change into another dress and gave the photographers enough time to take pictures of me in the new dresses uninterrupted by my guests. He's thoughtful and sweet and is very flexible with plans. I was a little sad that we weren't able to play all the games that I had wanted to play. I really wanted a dance off among my guests but because I spent too long changing my dresses, we weren't able to play that game. Flawless execution for our reception (4/27/14) by MC Kenny and the Sang Along crew! I would recommend the whole team without hesitation for all of your wedding needs! Their experience and love for their work goes a long way amid all the wedding planning chaos. I promise, you won't be sorry! MC Kenny is quick on his feet and his presence was well received by both our Cantonese speaking guests and our younger English speaking crowd. We were all a nervous wreck about our opening entrance, but he ironed everything out for us in a matter of a few minutes an hour prior to the guests arriving. Guests were thoroughly engaged with the game selections and even weeks after the wedding, we are still receiving comments about how much fun they had at the wedding. His organization skills with the schedule were immaculate. He kept active communication with us about timing and briefed us on what we should be doing next without fail. Finally, the most notable save was during the cake cutting. The venue staff threw out my allergen-free cake slice that I brought in specifically for this part of the wedding. We were only told this under the spotlight when everyone was waiting for us to take a bite. Kenny sensed something was wrong and diverted the attention to my husband. I am grateful to have avoided an allergic reaction on my wedding night! DJ Tony really had the crowd dancing and threw in a nice surprise that remixed a few songs from our first dance mash up. That piece was personal and it's rare to hear creativity from a DJ at Chinese weddings! They usually just spin straight from tracks with no personality. You can tell he has really mastered his craft of DJing and can tailor it to your needs. We also decided to add extra lighting and a photo booth 2 weeks before the event. Despite the short notice, Kenny and Jay were very accommodating. The lighting really dressed up the mood and made the venue livelier. As for the photo booth, guests were having so much fun with it. You can choose a theme or take a more general set up. Either way, the props were a lot of fun, pictures/prints were really high quality, and the designs of the prints were forever changing so guests wanted to come back to collect more. One of my friend's recently got married and I was one of the wedding planners. She wanted a Mandarin speaking DJ who would mix the American and Chinese wedding traditions. Sang Along was highly recommended and now I know why. The service they provide is exceptional. Even before the wedding they make the bride feel special by customizing the games to her and meeting with her to discuss all her dreams and planned timeline. They had lots of lighting, backdrop, gobo, fog machine, etc. options to make the first dance and the reception in general as spectacular or subtle as any of their clients wish. On the day, Sang Along was not only prompt but early. They helped organize bridal party members who didn't know what to do when so that the introduction, bridal party dance went smoothly. Most importantly, they made the bride and groom's lives stress free by making it clear when and what they were to do during the garter toss, cake eating, etc. They never pressured the timeline and always allowed for any changes the bride wanted to make, such as her decision to change up the order of events. My wife and I reserved Sang Along Entertainment in January of 2012 for our wedding on Sept 29, 2012 at the Sheraton Hotel in Flushing. We shopped through a few DJs and SAE came out best in terms of value and our needs. We wanted an "Asian Fusion" wedding which would combine a Western style Ceremony with the traditional Chinese Banquet. In the end, we wanted a FUN memorable wedding. SAE surpassed out expectations with flying colors. We initially met with Jay and he was able to convince us to go with their services. We specifically requested MC Kenny since he was fluent in English & Cantonese. In my opinion, he was the best MC out of all the MCs on their website. We also used them for our Ceremony Music & Color Wash Lighting & their Photobooth. I was a bit worried that the MC-ing might be a bit "cheesy" as I'm sure everyone's been to one of those Chinese Weddings with a fobby MC/DJ. This did not happen at all. Kenny mixed the perfect amount of Cantonese/English to get the party going. The dance floor was PACKED most of the night and this was due to their excellent song choices and MC Kenny. These guys know what they're doing. They're an absolute blast and they've helped make our wedding perfect. We have absolutely no regrets at all. With all that said, SAE and specifically, Kenny, WAS AMAZING. My wife and I are SO HAPPY we decided on using SAE. I originally marked this as 4 stars because of the few bullets I listed below but I decided their exceptional job and service outweighs the negatives. These guys deserve 5 stars! Our minor complaints: 1) Ceremony Music was only one speaker. The sound was so low that most people could not hear our ceremony. We did have an outdoor ceremony at the Sheraton Hotel in the Terrace area so the sound might have been drowned out a bit but I feel like they should have accounted for this considering they've done a few weddings at the Sheraton. Maybe they should have set up two speakers instead of one. 2) Feeding cost of $25/head. This is already cheaper than what the hotel would have charged for individual meals but I feel $25/head is a bit much for Flushing Chinese food. Regardless, I treated this as a bit of extra tip for SAE 3) We did not communicate as much as I would have preferred via e-mail/phone/in person. My wife and I hired Sang Along Entertainment for our wedding banquet, June of 2013, in Queens, New York, and the music slide video. It was a wonderful experience, as we both were in California, and they worked very well with our schedule. They were willing to answer questions over the telephone and worked around the difficult logistics. Our music slide video was awesome! It was both fun and touching at the same time, and there was not a dry eye in the crowd. At the actual banquet, Cedric was our MC, and we met with him before hand. He spoke fluent Cantonese and English and was very familiar with all of the traditional customs. He was super professional, and was able to handle "high-stress" situations. When he got going, he really hyped up the crowd to the right mood. The dance floor was always full due to his energy and due to Sang Along's wonderful music choices. My sister wanted their playlist. They included games that most of my family had never seen before, but everyone got involved, and there was a lot of laughter. We were recommended to use SAE from a cousin who used them for their wedding. We used the cake service, the MC/DJ, makeup and photographer. Overall, this is good for the price, but there were a few glaring mistakes that I find hard to overlook. Photographer: The photographer was very friendly and showed up on time. I can't review the photos yet as they are currently still pending; Will update once I get them. Cake: The cake was delicious, huge, and beautiful. Delivery was on time and professionally done. Hair/Makeup: Venus and Eunice did a great job on hair and makeup. Everyone looked gorgeous and the makeup lasted all night. DJ/MC: The song selection was excellent. Kenny did a great job of keeping things going and was very polite and professional. However, the parent/child dances ended up being pushed to being at the tail end of the banquet, and I had to remind Kenny that we still had to do them. Additionally, a bridal party group dance that we specifically discussed during the final meeting seems to have been mislabeled and overlooked. The music for this dance ended up being relegated to being background music during one of the games when I inquired about the song not being used. read more

A friend recommended me to Sang Along Entertainment; she said if I ask for Kenny and I won't be disappointed. She was right. First, I want to mention how accommodating Kenny and Jay are with our crazy schedule for meetings, and how quickly they respond to emails and phone calls. We requested for Kenny for our back to back weddings that started in Westchester at 11am and ended in Flushing at 11pm. We hired Sang Along for DJ/MC for our wedding after reading the great reviews on yelp. We spoke with Jay initially and then Kenny who ended up being our MC. Both guys were really great in answering our questions and seeing our vision for the wedding. I remember coming in to meet Kenny with a very detailed schedule that I made for the wedding day and before even showing it to him, he pretty much had the same idea planned out, if not better. We really liked Kenny as our MC because we know finding a good bilingual (English and Cantonese) MC is difficult or really expensive. He was funny, energetic and kept us on schedule. He was also really good at explaining what was going on in both languages, especially during our Chinese tea ceremony. In terms of music, we submitted music files for the ceremony and just a suggested song list for the reception. Ceremony music was great and so was reception, although not sure if the songs on the suggested list were played (wasn't really paying attention). Just send them actual song files if you really want them to play specific songs. We didn't care too much about reception songs as long as they kept people dancing. Sang Along also rolls with the punches and just goes with the flow of the wedding. Being a bride is really stressful and I feel like Jay and Kenny's calm and laid back attitude really helped me out. Our bridal party secretly reached out to them last minute to play a surprise video for us during our wedding and it was great how they worked with our friends to do that. Bottom line, SAE was an excellent, affordable and easy vendor to work with! read more

4.5 stars - Best DJ and MC for the price. CEDRIC is the best MC I ever seen that also speaks Mandarin. He is very responsible, caring, and attentive to your needs. I would recommend Cedric if u are looking for a Mandarin speaking DJ that actually listens and is flexible to work with. He made my night a memorable one with fun activities and they were on time. The music was played as scheduled. I used SAE for playing a video slide show, DC, MC and basic lighting. I would highly recommend! The only bad part of SAE is their office location. It's hard to find, inside a blg and doesn't look safe. U can pay the final balance after the activity. read more

I don't have an account and am using my husband's. I saw SAE work their magic at 2 weddings so it was in my mind to hire them before a date or a venue was decided on. Afterwards, we received tons of feedback from our guests about how great and professional SAE was. I believe a couple from our wedding plans on booking them too. With all the chaos during the day, my husband and I barely had time to communicate with Kenny. But, it was all seamless due to their experience and how well well both Kenny and Jay paid attention during our meetings. Aside from entertaining, I feel like SAE went above and beyond. My husband and I were pleasantly surprise by the switching of our preselected game prizes to something we never thought of. (I don't want to spoil it in case this might be applicable to anyone) Kenny also has impeccable time management skills and ensured that everything went along smoothly. I was pretty vain being unable to pick just 3 dresses, which Kenny said it was impossible for 4 dress changes. However, he made it happen by tracking me down in the photo booth area and signaling me throughout the day on when to change to make sure it worked out. There were no awkward moments of silence or hiccups with SAE's performance on the mic or with the music. I have no regrets and highly recommend SAE. read more

Amazing! We are from Boston and there's not many MCs available in Boston. They are more cater to the "older" generation, so we ventured out. We found Sang Along Entertainment on Yelp and saw all these great reviews and decided to drive to New York to meet them. Jay was very professional and personable at the first meeting, making the whole process very quick and easy. We trusted Jay and told him to pick the right MC for our late 20s early 30s crowd that likes to party and have fun, and he chosed Cedric for us. Excellent choice! All my guests had fun and enjoyed the entertainment provided by Cedric. Many of them asks where did you find him?! It was a blast, perfect wedding, perfect entertainment, perfect music! We hired Sang Along for our wedding last month and we were extremely pleased with Kenny's service! As someone who's managing the wedding remotely, the first thing I judged on was the owner's responsiveness. Kenny always answered my emails within a day. That set a really good start to our relationship! Kenny is also very professional and knowledgeable. When we had our meeting before the wedding day, I tossed in my ideas of a romantic march in (with no march in for bridesmaids/groom's men) and gradually turning the party to a fun night. The idea was rejected by Kenny as it would lose the crowd! We are glad that we listened and the party turned out to be a blast! As a Chinese bride, I hardly had time to pay attention to all the details given I was constantly changing but one thing that stood out so much, which I know Kenny did an excellent job on managing the atmosphere, was that my mother was dancing in the middle of the floor! It was a priceless scene! Not only that, my aunts were dancing too! I must stress that they weren't up for just a few seconds, but they were dancing for more than 15 minutes at least. The mid-way dancing was unexpected but it was the best idea! If there's one piece of advice to Sang Along, I wish they can invest in a portable karaoke machine! Unlike other Chinese MC/DJ companies, Sang Along requires the couple to send their songs in advance. My father couldn't make up his mind whether he wanted to sing or not, but on the wedding night, the atmosphere was so great and all his friends demanded him to sing a song. I felt sad that I had to turn him down. read more

Kenny and his crew @ Sang Along are awesome in so many ways. We had our wedding at Westbury Manor, LI, NY in September, and our wedding could not have run more smoothly: all thanks to the professional service provided by Sang Along. Sang Along is responsive to emails, accommodative to our wildest ideas, informative, honest, punctual to setting up, extremely good at warming up and entertaining us and our guests, and amazingly good at making us truly enjoy the date of our wedding by taking a lot of stress off our shoulder. Our guests told us after the wedding that they really like our MC Kenny and DJ as they really enjoy the games and music chosen by them. While fulfilling all "wishes" in our proposed schedule for the wedding, Sang along has kept the time so well yet flexible so that we were reminded to do the "next thing in the schedule" when "the time is right", based on the mood of the crowd. Unlike most regular US weddings, our wedding was extremely busy with not only ceremony, cocktail-ing, cake-cutting, photobooth-ing, eating, drinking and dancing, but also with multiple dress/make-up/hair changing of the bride, two short movies playing, games for competing for the bouquet and garter, and a performance of the cutest mini-lion dance. Everything was coordinated so well by Kenny with the bride's make-up artist, the staff at the wedding venue, and our photographer and videographer. The flow of the wedding could not be so smooth otherwise. In addition to running our busy wedding, Sang along managed to even take candid shots for us for free. We are truly thankful to see these pictures so quickly way before we can see the ones taken by our official photographer. Jay from Sangalong was the DJ at our wedding reception last Saturday. He did an absolutely fantastic job planning and coordinating with us in the weeks leading up to the big day. Very professional and receptive to our questions and input. Always responded back to us promptly. Sangalong offers years of experience in the industry. We selected the DJ and Photo Booth package and were not disappointed. Sangalong showed up and set up early, the music sound quality and song selections were great, and the photobooth pictures were a big hit.
