New to the area, so I relied on Yelp (and other) reviews to help me find a salon. Jolie was highly ranked, so with my fingers crossed, I decided to give them a try; the reviews were spot on! I was in bad need of a cut, and I decided to also try the Balayage highlights everyone has been talking about. I swore off coloring my hair years ago due to the high upkeep involved, so I'm hoping the Balayage will truly be lower maintenance. Laura was my stylist, and she was able to get me in in a couple of days. The salon was friendly and low key, which I really appreciated. I showed her some "Pinspiration" pics and she was able to give recommendations based on my hair. While she mixed my color Sangita threaded my brows. At first, the color turned out a little lighter than I had hoped. Laura said it was no problem, so she toned it down for me, and my dream color emerged! :) I love the way my color and hair cut turned out!! Low key, low maintenance- perfect! She also talked me in to trying out the Kevin Murphy products. She wasn't pushy; I hate pushy up-sells! But she did tell me about the products and the natural ingredients and essential oils they use. I like natural and organic foods; figured it was time to give my hair the same! So I bought shampoo and creme from the line- so far so good there. I recently moved to Cypress and I chose this salon because Yelp mentioned that they work with extensions. My hair is damaged from years of bleaching, so to add length, I SWEAR by clip in extensions. Gina made sure I was comfortable and we had such a nice conversation throughout the entire appointment. Not to mention, I called at 2PM and they fit me in for a 2:30PM appointment! I went in for a blow dry and style, but Gina also suggested I trim my ends and she did such a lovely job! Gina also handled my extensions with caution and care! I loved all the products she used, especially the hair spray. I loved it so much, I took a bottle home for myself. The hairspray has a "light" hold (it does NOT make your hair crunchy) but IT LASTS! I am writing this review the day after my appointment and my curls are still in tact! (I am so sad to have to wash them out ) I made an additional appointment to receive balayage coloring next month! Everyone at this salon seemed happy to be working, doing what they love, and everyone had amazing hospitality. This is the worst experience I've ever had, especially at a Aveda Salon, Laura didn't put a towel around my neck, so she ruined my designer dress, also she was holding her cell phone the entire time she was supposed to be streaking my hair, she did the streaks with long lines across my entire head, also my previous hairdresser talked with her on the phone and gave her my formula and she evidently didn't follow it at all, supposed to lighten to canary, instead she only went to gold, and rinsed my hair in cold water just to keep the toner in, I've been sick about it, also she overcharged, I still gave her a decent tip, she kept talking the entire time about a better product than Aveda, when I inquired about a product on the shelf while waiting for my ride, she ignored me. This was my first time coming to this salon. I am not one to get haircuts regularly, but I thought it was time for a change. I had never dyed my hair so I was very nervous. Sangita made sure I was comfortable and that I knew exactly what she was doing the entire time from the coloring to washing. In the end my hair came out great! I am very pleased with the color and cut and I will definitely be back. Prices are also very reasonable considering some other salons in the area charge $130 or more for balayage. read more

Recently moved to the Cypress area and wanted to find a new salon to call home. My hair is thin and natural (no coloring). I requested Laura as that was the only person available at the time. HUGE mistake. She was rude and condescending saying that I needed to stop using cheap products on my hair, i didn't realize that paul mitchell and sebastian products were considered "cheap". I'd understand if i was using suave or even pantene! After being scorned about my hair she asked what i wanted. I replied, please just cut an inch off and keep the same style...not too hard right? WRONG... she proceeded to cut off at least 3 inches and decided to style my hair TOWARD my face even though i specifically said i did not like that. long story short, i felt hideous...normally i feel more amazing after a fresh cut. I don't know about the other stylist but stay away from Laura. read more

I chose Laura at Jolie Salon based on reviews and my previous experiences at AVEDA salons. I was greatly disappointed. Upon arrival, the consultation was a bit abrasive and borderline rude. I asked if she had pictures of what she was talking about regarding color, and she showed me one set of a completely different color and length of hair. She reminded me of her great reviews and proceeded to bash the work of my prior stylist. I explained that i liked the prior cut, but just needed it to be trimmed as it had been more than six months since my last cut and my ends needed it. She suggested several changes and I had to repeat what i wanted. I ended up saying that i just wanted a haircut, as the consultation was not inspiring confidence. I'm glad i did. The haircut was fine, and she did confirm that she was taking just a bit off, but she continued to bash my prior stylist. Frankly, my prior stylist made my hair look great and made me feel great. I think in the future i will drive the two and half hours rather than go through that experience again. To top it off she asked if i liked my hair straight or curly, and i said i normally wear it wavy. She styled it that way, but put in more hairspray than curls and then charged an extra $15 for it. In total it was $70 for a haircut and a miserable experience. If you want to be pampered go somewhere else. This is NOT your typical AVEDA salon. read more

I had recently cut my hair short into a long bob and when it grew out i was looking like a mushroom head and couldn't style my hair. Sangita did an amazing just cutting in some layers and even spent time showing me how to do a quick curling technique. She has cut my sister in laws hair who has very thick and curly hair and she was extremely happy with it because it is hard to find someone who knows how to cut curly hair. Yesterday after a lot of research I decided to go to Jolie Salon for my haircut. I have long hair and am very finicky about how much to cut where the hair looks healthy but doesn't affect the hair's length too much. I called; the girl answering the phone was very polite and patient. She promptly gave me an appointment. I ran a little late but still everyone was very accommodating. My hair stylist was Michelle, a wonderful lady! initially she listened to all my demands and then just talked to me for sometimes listening and answering my queries. She gave me an excellent shampoo & conditioner treatment using and most importantly informing me what products she was using and how they would improve my hair quality. The haircut was great and according to my wishes. Then Michelle blow dried my hair and they looked amazing !!! I will definitely go back there and recommend others to try Jolie salon! read more

A good friend of mine told me to try out Jolie Salon, I am so very happy I did!! She uses Laura so I tried her out, I got a haircut and blow dry. Laura does not miss a single detail that you tell her, she cut my hair exactly the way I wanted it. I have long hair and told her I only wanted an inch cut off and to have long layers. Sangita Taylor is the owner of this salon. She is very attentive to detail which starts out with the washing of my hair. I like a scissor cut without the use of an electric hair trimmer on my sideburns. The session ends with a washing of the hair. I went here yesterday to get my hair done for a wedding. The whole wedding party went. The bride looked wonderful but my hair was a complete and total DISASTER. (So bad that I plan on writing them for a refund). It took the stylist TWO HOURS to curl my hair (I have normal shoulder-length, thin hair). I wanted a simple side ponytail with a bit of height around the face (so the hair wouldnt lay flat on my head) and a bit of interest in the back where it would be tied with some natural looking curls. I brought two photos with me to show what I wanted. After the hours of curling and having to correct the stylist's poor technique - which left creases all along my head where the iron started - she attempted to pin my hair into a ponytail. It immediately began falling apart. She retried the ponytail and attempted to make it look 'natural' which ended up looking like an awkward mess. She used so much hair spray that my hair was literally wet - when it dried, it was gummy and white. I told her it wouldn't hold and that she should have teased the underside of the hair near my face to give it volume. She argued with me saying I had requested 'no height'. I never said that. She then teased it slightly and retried the ponytail which looked awful at this point. I just took it down and said to do something else (like pin the top of my hair back in a half-up half-down style). She argued with me again saying I didn't let her curl the hair right and that I said I didn't want any height, even though I JUST told her to add height or it would look bad. She then argued with me several more times trying to convince me to pick a new hairstyle out of a book or 'trust her' to do something nice and wouldn't just pin my hair where I held it. She finally did and put a haphazard 'curl' (flat loop of hair) over the pins, which didn't even cover them. At this point it had been 2.5 hours and we were late to the ceremony site. She then charged me $65 for awfully curled hair that was barely pinned right. At the same time, another bridesmaid had asked for a small trim of her bangs and although she specifically said she did not want a dry trim, they convinced her to let them do it. Sure enough, they completely messed up her bangs and she was an additional 30 minutes late to the church. (We had to leave her at the salon because they were taking so long.). I would recommend running as fast and as far as possible from this place and finding people who actually offer the service of 'updo' (and at that rate, a 'good haircut'). Stay away if you value good technique and fair prices. I am posting this review in as many places as possible so that no one has to experience what I did! read more
