I decided to try Salons at Stone Gate because my fiance has his hair cut here and has had good experiences with it. Well, that was my mistake. I went in for a round of highlights to return to my natural blonde color after growing out reddish brown highlights and a red box color as I went dark for Fall/Winter. I had an appointment with Meredith who was super sweet. We proceeded to do a heavy foiling and a toner to lift the red. After the foils came off, there was still a bit of red right along the top of my head which we would remove in another session of foils about a week later. All of which was fine, or so I thought. After my appointment, I went home and went about my normal routine. Then washed my hair. My hair was so fried, and over processed, it was lie straw. I looked like a frizzed out poodle. I have never had my hair behave this way, even after chemotherapy. Never. I returned to the salon to lift the rest of the red from my hair, and pointed out my concern with my frizz to Meredith and she said that she would don a deep conditioning treatment and would give me some to take home. I told her I had already done two deep conditioning treatments of my own and they did not even touch the problem. After the deep conditioning treatment, including the two I did at home, my hair is in the same RUINED state that is was when I left the salon on March. 17th. Over processed, fried, frizzy, and a tangled mess. I use conditioner, leave in conditioner, and Moroccan oil NIGHTLY, and my hair is still a complete mess. I am devastated. I have had my hair highlighted blonde every 4-6 weeks since I was 12 years old, (I'm 31 now) only stopping recently to go dark, and I have never had this happen to my hair even during chemotherapy as I stated above. I fear that my hair may never recover from this and that it's texture may be altered so badly that I may have to cut it all off and regrow it, which would be emotionally devastating because I haven't cut it since I lost all of it 4 years ago. I will never use Meredith or Salons at Stone Gate again. They have done so much physical and emotional damage, it's unreal. I attached a photo of my hair after the third deep conditioning treatment. Me and my son have been coming here for a while now and it's really a great location with very nice staff. Kelly always cuts our hair and she's a delight. She always makes sure that we leave completely happy with our hair cuts. It's gotten to the point to where I'll wait if she's booked and just let my hair grow. Even my kid wants to wait on her. Even when I forget about my appointment, they send a text out to remind you a couple days prior. Highly recommend, ask for Kelly!! read more

Service recovery After two bad hair experiences, I decided to give SOG another try. This time at their sister location. Before my visit I expressed my frustrations with the manager and she assured me that I would be in great hands. My new stylist listened to my concerns and addressed how the color correction process would take place. She explained each step to me, and she brought out color swatches so I could visualize the end result. My hair is now PERFECT! I'm beyond grateful for everyone that helped me see this hair debacle to an end. I would definitely recommend this salon. I am only giving 4/5 stars because it took a few visits but my hair looks great read more

Well first of all this places is great, everyone is so nice, they offer you water , coffee, cookies even a blanket if your cold so it's pretty cool. I kind of just went on a whim and decided that I wanted to get a bang trim. Nothing too crazy, just a trim. I just walked in without an appt and they were so nice to squeeze me in! I didn't realize that this place would be so busy! Definitely appointments are required for a cut. They booked me with Anna before she went on her lunch break. She said it would take about 15 minutes, and to be honest I didn't even wait 15 minutes. I wasn't in a rush either, so that wasn't a problem. Let me just say that Anna is so nice! She listened to what I wanted even though it was just a simple bang trim. She asked me how I would like my hair to be styled and the length I preferred. Apparently I kept wanting it shorter and she was like "girl, I got you. I'll make sure you look cute and sassy". Haha she's good with her words. But she was optimistic, outgoing, and happy. It even made me feel happy. I'm so glad I stopped by! I'll definitely be seeing Anna from now on! If I ever decide to get a cut, I'll be sure to stop by! Also the receptionists are so nice!!! I've been seeing Marcie once a month for almost a year for toner on my silver white hair and she does an absolutely SUPERB job with the toner and the blowout. I'm so in love with my longer white hair now that Marcie is on my team. Left the door with tears, I can't even explain how I feel. I'm sure the hair stylist was able to read it thru my body language, Katlyn is a very nice person and I'm sure she felt bad that the hair color came out so bad :( the girl tried to solve but the damage was already there .. EXTREMELY dark hair that made me cry.. she put some product on it to help fade out but it affected my scalp, my forehead and behind my ears. The hair is absolutely damaged:( tons of split ends that I never never had in my hair before. I have just washed it again as couldn't tolerate the smell of all the products on it. Very very sad.. no one cared to ask me how was my experience.. to give me a chance to express my feelings..the 2 ladies at the front both said it'll be $80!!!! UPDATE There was a miscommunication: Salons at Stone Gate offered a full refund this morning that I didn't know about earlier. This is very much appreciated. The three stars are obviously for the oops, but I'd like to state that they are working their best to make this right. Thank you! ------------------ I'd like to share my experience with this salon, that charged a lot of money with poor results and then a lie to make me go away. I had an appointment with a nice lady who despite being very nice, was unable to do a proper perm. I asked for curly hair and what I got was a wavy, frizzy mess. My stylist had originally said she was going to trim the ends for health, but said it was unnecessary, not because that was the truth, but because her ext appointment was due. And she never had me sit under the heat lamps, which is why the perm did not take. Her efforts probably would have turned out nice if she had spent the time doing a proper job instead of nervously watching the clock. Despite being disappointed as soon as it dried, my sister-in-law called for me about getting it fixed or a refund. They told her they could take me on Monday. Now, I had clearly told these folks that I was from out of town, leaving Tuesday. So I drove here this morning as instructed (Monday) to find their door clearly showing they are closed Sundays and Mondays. To put this in perspective, I am a working Mom with two kids, visiting family for my new nephews baptism. This was the only time I had to myself to do this- the last time I had a perm was 20 years ago. They didn't get it right, which is upsetting. What makes me angry is the lie, telling us to come on Monday to have it fixed when they are clearly closed. If you are reading this, I encourage you to go elsewhere or have a serious talk with your stylist about what you want. read more

So. This review is long, but it is a long time coming. In some ways it pains me, but in many others it just pisses me off. I don't get my hair cut all that often, maybe 2-3 times a year. I also haaaate finding someone to cut it for me. I have long layers, I do my own color, and I generally take really good care of my hair. When I first visited S@SG, I had nice, quiet guy who washed and cut my hair. It looked nice enough, he was friendly and complimented my box-dye job (most people don't do it at home so well!) but the $60 price for just a wash, cut, and dry was hard to swallow. I really hadn't planned to return, but I found myself in desperate need of a good cut a few days before leaving town for a month. On this next visit, I made "first available" appointment and got a stylist with whom I immediately bonded. Even though $60 was a bit steep for a haircut, I returned to her several times over the next 6-7 years. One day, I show up to find my stylist no longer works there, even though I had made my appointment with her a few weeks earlier and no one contacted me to say that I would have someone new. Ironically, a few years back, I remember having gotten an email from the salon basically denouncing an employee who left (from the undertone of vitriol in the email, I gather it was not his choice) but with whom I had no reason to care one way or another. They clearly sent it out to the entire customer list. But when my specific stylist leaves? Nada. On to the new stylist. She did NOT SHUT UP. I'm not someone who is thrilled with idle chatter. No, I don't want to tell you about my spouse. Whether or not I have children is nunya. Please stop bashing my former stylist by making fun of my hair. I know that I have box color, but you're not going to insult me into having you do it. I really don't care about how much your husband earns or what sexual intimacies the two of you share. Dear lord. It was agonizing. Especially when she took shots at a stylist I had respected for years. Girl, I just met you. I've politely given you cues that should clue in any human that I am not in the mood for small talk. And you have the balls to not only take shots at my hair, but at a former colleague? I left with such a bitter taste in my mouth that it took me over a year to get a haircut again. A few weeks later, I called the salon and asked for a manager to discuss the whole ordeal. They took a message; I never got a call. Maybe this place works for other people, and once upon a time it did for me too. But I find some of their practices sketchy (that email!) their prices ridiculously high, and their recent hiring choices extremely questionable. Consider yourself warned. read more

I got recommended by a friend to go here and see Tanya. I met with her so she could feel and see my hair and see what was good to do to make sure it looks as good as possible since I was wanting to go very blonde. I thought that was awesome. No one has ever done that before. When I went in to get my hair done she started off by just holding my hair in a pony tail and just cut it off my dead ends. But that was it. After my hair was colored there was no trimming it up, no layering like I asked, no face framing. NOTHING. At this point it was about to be closing time and she was definitely trying to rush. Then the worst part is after a week I finally straighten it and noticed on the back of my head my hair was literally fried off. A huge chunk of it. GONE! And then my hair looked like a wave in the back. I'll added picture to show. It looked awful. I had to go to another salon and have them fix it. I will never go here again. read more

When you have an overall poor experience regardless of the quality of work the stylist can deliver, it becomes difficult to establish a loyal client. Front desk is rude and unwelcoming. I had pre-set two appointments and had a confirmation call the day before. However upon arrival I was told that I had scheduled no such appointments. Understandably things may happen however the lack of courtesy and accommodation is unnecessary. (mind you I had an appointment card filled out). As much as I like my stylist (repeat client of hers) I would rather spend my money where I am respected by all within the establishment. Finally the color of money is green regardless of the color or ethnicity of the person handing the money. It is truly sad that many at this salon are ignorant. read more

Kelly is awesome! Went in for a balayage. I have to go back a few more times to achieve the blonde I want but even after the first visit I'm in love with my hair. I had purple ends that I tried to cover with brown which ended up turning a gross copper color. I was in need of a serious color correction and Kelly did a great job! She was very knowledgeable and was able to maintain the integrity of my hair even after applying 40vol. bleach. The cut and style turned out really nice as well. read more

I had a wonderful experience! This is my new place, and Alex is my new hair girl! I requested the appointment online, but it didn't really save any time, since they called to see if there was a stylist I requested, and confirm that they had the time slot available. I arrived a few minutes early, and was taken back almost immediately, for a quick chat, and then shampoo. Alex was super friendly, and really listened not only to how I wanted it cut, but also how I wear it on a daily basis. It's nice and easy to care for, and I've already had a ton of compliments. It cost a lot less than I was expecting, given the awesome reviews. I had medium length hair that she shampooed, cut into an angled bob, then styled and blow dried for $45 (pre tip). I don't believe I have ever wrote a review before. I'm understanding and never take any one experience to heart or blame the entire buisness for it. People are people and make mistakes. With that said.. here's my experience at this salon. It was a weekend, impusively I wanted my hair done like some pictures I looked up on Google. Nothing crazy. Light grey almost white with black roots. I was already blonde. My hair was down my back. I called everywhere.. of course noone had an opening except here.. what luck. I go in and tell the woman who just started working there, but has been in hair dressing for over ten years..that I want this but if it's an issue then I will totally find something else. I was told it wasn't an issue at all, and can definitely be done. The first time my hair turned yellow ,my roots were dyed black and there was a ring around my head that was brassy orange from where the roots met the rest of my hair. The entire time I'm watching my hair being pulled out and they are saying this is normal. At the end of all this my hair was damaged and nothing like I wanted. When I said it wasn't what I wanted .Well it's been months my hair is blonde but now with black roots. Forget the color.. but I paid 300$ to spend three hrs, three different times there for my hair to snap off everywhere all over the sides by my face, the entire back of it. Everytime I brushed my hair it looked like I shaved my head all over my clothes. I cant wear it up because I have pieces sticking out all over. I can't wear it down because it's like straw. I have never ever had such damage done to my hair. I had to cut it all off. After wearing it in loose bun soaked in conditioner for legit three months straight. It's currently in the middle of my neck, and I'm still waiting for it to fade to grey like I was told. 5 months ago. Haven't dared to put any chemicals on it since, and as of today it's still breaking off. It's near my chin. Black roots, and my hair faded to the same blonde it was when I came in. Spent so much on hair conditioning treatments. Never again. My advice... Be smart, do research, don't act impulsively. read more
