Landscape looks like it hasn't been maintained in 20 years. There's no extra charge for it, but I wouldn't advertise it. Either maintain it or remove it. I would give this park a 3&1/2 or a 4 because of the condition of the pool.

Pulling up to the banquet center, you get all of the best views of the small town. The wind farm is perfectly within view and towers over the course. I hadn't ever seen more than one wind turbine in a place so my mouth was wide open looking at this. There had to have been 30 of them and with the way the scenery was in Ubly, it felt like I was transported into some kind of a Norman Rockwell painting. The banquet center does not look like much at all from the outside. Structurally it's pretty standard compared to other reception areas I've been to. There is a covered drop-off pick-up area for the guests, separate entrance areas for the vendors, there is a large waiting area/room for earliest guests to spend their time in, and then there is the banquet area. The banquet area is where the location really closed the deal with me. Their reception area was transformed into such a lush, faitrytale like atmosphere that it took me off guard a bit. It was perfect for a wedding. Everything was covered in tulle and low lights and it gave the entire area more of a glow versus any harsh lighting. The wedding colors were draped in cloths, covered in tulle, and wrapped in ribbons everywhere you could imagine. Being realistic, I am not sure whether this is the work of this esablishment, the wedding party, or a paid decorator.But I will say that this location threw a reception that easily rivals some of the best places I have been to. And I would highly suggest checking them out if you are considering an event near the area.

Seeing it grow into the beautiful 18-hole layout it is today has been great to watch. The course itself is short but surprisingly challenging, which makes it fun for golfers of every level. The mature trees lining many of the fairways and the well-placed water hazards keep you thinking on almost every shot. It's the kind of course where strategy matters just as much as power. The greens are consistently in excellent condition, some of the best-maintained in the area, and they roll true. It's clear that a lot of pride goes into keeping the course looking great. After the round, the restaurant is a must-stop. The food is excellent, and I'm not exaggerating when I say even the hot dogs are fantastic. They also have a great selection of cold beer, both on tap and bottled. The staff is friendly, fun, and attentive. It is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The owner deserves a lot of credit. He's done a terrific job building the business and clearly cares about the course, the players, and the Port Sanilac community. If you're anywhere near Port Sanilac and looking for a round of golf, Huron Shores is absolutely worth the stop. It's one of those places that keeps you coming back.

Tom and Connie were great hosts and more than willing to have a conversation and fill us in about the area. Also nice enough to let you be on your own. Cottage appears to be a converted garage but once you walk inside you will be pleasantly surprised. Main part of cabin has a bathroom with shower and toilet, a very nice raised kitchen with all the appliances you might be used to and a small dining area that sits right next to the bed in this room. Gas fireplace, sofa, book shelf and small closet are here also. This part of the cottage is a little too crowded especially if there are more than two of you. Off of the dining area is a very large addition that has two beds, a couple of chairs and a flat screen TV with satellite. This room is done nicely in white pine panel but could use some comfy chairs. There is also a washer and dryer in this room hidden in a closet.All of this sits on 30 or 40 acres of woods and manicured lawn. Tom told us that there was a creek and a tree house about a quarter mile back in the woods but that some one was renting the tree house back there so we did not go back. We did see a deer right outside our back room on Wednesday morning. You have the option of getting breakfast here and Tom and Connie delivered it to our room at 9 am. Nice touch. For the $95 we paid this was a deal. Would definitely consider coming back.

We were definitely pleasantly surprised when we walked in to the "cottage house" a nice kitchen, large living area and a gas fireplace that was greatly appreciated since the second week of June the temp had dropped to 52. Tom made an amazing breakfast in the morning and him and Connie delivered right to our cottage. We will definitely be staying there again when we need to escape.
