There's a square behind the church and is in front of the City Hall. There are 3 or 4 bars with…read moreseating at outdoor tables. BdM is one of them. Our waitress was a totally charming young lady who put up with our questions in broken Spanish and Catalan (think French, speak Spanish). We had bowl of deep fried txiperones (baby squid) that was perfect, a salad with a fried slab of goat cheese, walnuts, sunflower seeds and pepitas And fried eggplant with blue cheese and honey (the star of the night). A couple of glasses of the house white and a guy wearing a Nirvana t-shirt playing flamenco guitar made for a perfect evening.

The inside is small and narrow, but has plenty of tables in the plaza outside. I opted for a seat at the bar. The bartender/manager(?) was VERY friendly and patient with my lack of Spanish. Eventually I was able to communicate to him to just order whatever 4 tapas he thought were the best and any beer that wasn't an IPA. Ended up with the patatas allioli dall negre, croquettes iberic, pop a la gallega, and fruita patata brie. All of the dishes I enjoyed, but my favorites were the Patatas bravas and pop a la gallega. Patatas were cooked perfect, the allioli was rich and flavorful, a nice variation of the patatas bravas. The pop a la gallega was incredible!! In America, I usually get octopus in chirashi bowls at sushi restaurants, and they've always been chewy, rubbery filler items. Here, the octopus was very tender, the whole dish was an absolute incredible balance of flavors and textures. If I came back to Barcelona again I would definitely try and come out to Premià de Mar just to visit this restaurant again! I regret not being able to find time to come back a second time during my trip.

Every time that I visit my hometown I find new modern and hip restaurants, and Cala Boca is one of those: located in an old street nicely gold illuminated at night in downtown Sabadell, is dark and lovely in the inside. Minimalist yet well studied decoration with old school chalkboard where you can see the tapas and drinks of the day. I really liked the thick plastic bag where our Albariño wine was served, it was very chic and I have never seen that before. The place was packed last night, with tons of people enjoying their food and people watching while getting some fresh air. About the food: some tapas were amazing, like the cod based and the padron peppers. However I did not enjoy that much the calamares a la andaluza (calamari Andalusian style) nor the pulpo a feira (octopus Galician style). Calamari were too gummy and the bread covering it was too thick and there was not flavor so I asked for some aioli sauce. As per the octopus, I just prefer it cut in disks and only boiled with paprika and olive oild added, and this style seemed to be a little bit fried and the flavor was just ok. Patatas bravas were good but not awesome, I would have add more spiciness in the sauce, it was too blend for me. The mushrooms mix was very good, i did not even know so many of the varieties presented in the dish. The yolk of an egg was add to the mix and I find it very creative and tasteful.
