Bottom Line: An awesome triathlon…read more I have had the chance to participate in this event a few times now and it was bigger than I thought it was going to be. Very professionally run but still relatively casual and fun. The venues for all three portions is awesome. The bike leg is longer than most other Tri's that I have done so it definitely benefits bikers, at least for the sprint. Great expo afterwards, lots of community support... I highly recommend this event!!

The Carpinteria Beach, known as the "World's Safest Beach," is very special and has been rated the #1 swimming beach in California, due mostly to its Southern exposure and its protection by the Channel Islands. Swimmers will usually enjoy small surf and the absence of riptides at our unique beach. The bike course, an open course and large loop, travels along the foothills offering some spectacular ocean views. Both the olympic and sprint courses offer the participant a challenging ride, although the sprint course is also very well suited for the novice triathlete. The run course, also an open course, winds through some quaint Carpinteria neighborhoods and is mostly a flat loop course. The Carpinteria Triathlon is a benefit event for the City's Parks & Recreation youth programs. Proceeds will help to provide scholarships and additional equipment for programs such as Junior Lifeguards and our ocean recreation programs. This event is USA Triathlon Sanctioned.

They seem to have a great selection but TERRIBLE customer service…read more I ordered a bunch of parts that were listed as in stock but my order was placed on hold due to an out of stock muffler. I can understand this but after two weeks of not hearing ANYTHING I fee like they dropped the ball on their end. I attempted to contact them over the phone but their number appears to go straight to a voicemail that evidently does not get responded to. After a couple days I emailed them to find out a day later that the muffler shop had moved and Id probably be receiving the shipment the next week. 7 more days pass, no contact. I email them again on a Monday and get a response the next day, still waiting on the muffler and my fuel lines would be in by Thursday... i would imagine that a go-kart shop would have a spool of fuel line in stock pretty steadily especially considering the wondrous smorgasbord of other "in-stock" parts they have listed. Another week passes and still no contact from AGK. At this point I request a refund and what do you know? I get a response in 17 minutes confirming my refund and order cancellation. Holy crap AGK you have at least one thing figured out and that's credit card billing. Charged instantly and refunded almost as quickly. Off the bat, I really thought this would be a great vendor considering the extensive inventory, reasonable pricing, and useful info throughout the site but that was not the case. My experience was far from pleasant and if I can help it I will not be bringing my business back here.

Concerts in the Park happens every July and is sponsored by Santa Barbara Parks and Recreation…read more Hundreds of people bring their blankets and a picnic to enjoy this free music concert series. The setting couldn't be more perfect, as it's located right on Cabrillo Boulevard along the beautiful Santa Barbara waterfront. The concerts go from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Thursday nights in Chase Palm Park. Dogs are welcome on leash. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the park, but you will see many people drinking wine. There is a policeman walking around, but he turns a blind eye as long as no one is causing trouble. It's a relaxing way to enjoy our beautiful city, chill with friends, and listen to good live music.

Ranging from Stevie Nicks cover bands, to funk, to Cuban soul, you just never know what the week will bring. Besides the people you are with the two beat parts are the people watching (you will know what I mean when you go) AND the evening sunsets with the beach breeze. Can't get better than a free concert on a summer night in the American Riviera.

En Fuego Events always puts on incredible festivals throughout SB County, but this one stands out to me because of it's small local feel. When you think festival you probably think Coachella or some massive event on a field somewhere. Buckles 'n' Brews is a smaller sized, half indoor half outdoor, beer sampling event at a hidden carriage museum right by downtown Santa Barbara. Don't be fooled though, there's plenty of parking despite the location size. This fest has everything from IPAs to refreshing ciders, Tri-Tip BBQ sandwiches and home brewed hoppy. Each year the vendors slightly vary and the beers themselves are always new and unique. There's fantastic live music played by the Dusty Jugz which always ends up in a "stage" full of line dancers. I'd recommend this festival to anyone looking to have a wild western themed Saturday with close friends and locals alike, dancing to country and lifting a cheers to craft beers in a nice, local intimate location.

It was quite a relaxing morning before the event. We didn't know about the parking until we walked in from the 90 mins street parkings. Got handed out a wristband, a cute short glass, and a yelp bag. So awesome to get in this event and tried as much beers as I can. So much fun the beer I like the most is the High Heat Edition from The Brewhouse, it habanero spicy, love it...found my new beer. There is pretzels to snack on. Drink and play! It a great event where we can relax and enjoy with country music and tastes all kind of great beers. People here are so friendly and very informative about the beers and anything you wanted to ask. Also game to play, basically it's a wonderful and fun event to be at and enjoy after our busy working day. My friend and I had a great time. Thanks, Dani!

I was really happy I got to watch the documentary on Vans and meet the son of the original owner. Staff was pretty cool at Metro 4. I also got to meet a professional skateboarder thanks to Vans. It was nice meeting directors of films. Some of the board members of SBIFF not so much since they would ask for free items and I didn't know who they were lol. If you go 10 minutes before a film and there is still seats you can get in for a fraction of the price. At the time it was 12 dollars but I would only chance that during the week when everyone was working. It was a cool experience but I would never be able to do it again since I am back to working full time and as recovered as can be from a couple carpal tunnel surgeries.

My interest was first peaked when I was working as a Cashier at South Coast deli on Chapala where Roger Durling, executive director frequently came for lunch. I heard news that Penelope Cruz would be visiting Next door at the Arlington for a tribute seminar and as she is one of my favorite actresses for her roles in Pedro Almodovar's films, That first year I attended it just as a bystander and watched Penelope walk the red carpet into the Arlington with so much admiration and excitement swirling around the city felt alive with culture and art. The next year I rolled in SBCC's film study class with Nico Maestu ( currently the program director for Sbcc see film studies department) so that I could learn about what made film so special. There was an option to attend SBIFF as a volunteer so I was able to work the festival and see films on my days off. The festival is incredibly culturally rich and well put together. This is an opportunity to see films from around the world that you would otherwise not be able to access in Santa Barbara throughout the year. As years past I've been able to join as a guest, invited to some of the film festival after parties, and even seen some friends show their movies with Youth Cine Media, A program that teaches youth the art of documentary filmmaking. The panels, films, and tributes are a lovely edition to Santa Barbara's art and culture scene and some thing I look forward to every single year.

This years Fiesta events begin on August 5th - 9th, 2015…read more As a Santa Barbarian born and raised here, this by far has to be my favorite event of all time in my hometown! Ever since I was a little girl my family has participated in the parade, and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to be in the children's parade a few times myself. Ever since then it's been my tradition to partake in the festivities. Although I haven't been in the parade since I was a kid I enjoy going to it every year. This long week event is somewhat comparable to mardi gras in New Orleans. You can expect to find State Street packed with tourists, the bars filled, and the streets covered in confetti. The opening ceremony known as La Fiesta Pequeña "Little Fiesta" kicks off Fiesta week on the steps of our beautiful Mission. I suggest you try to claim a spot the night before or get there a few hours ahead of time to find one. Take a lounge chair, blankets, food, and beverage. They do have a small area with food vendors so take cash if you don't want to hassle with bringing your own stuff. I also suggest taking cash if you want to buy cascarones "confetti filled eggs" to get your crack on. If you don't know what a cascarone is then you haven't lived! You can find them anywhere on the streets being sold. They are beautifully hand crafted and decorated it makes you want to save them instead of cracking them on someone's head. El Mercado De La Guerra - Located in the heart of the city you will find tons of food booths, and vendors selling a variety of festive art, jewelry, clothing and accessories. There's also a stage provided with free entertainment. You will see flamenco and folklorico performances and awesome bands playing pop, rock, latin, jazz, and salsa music. El Mercado Del Norte: This Mercado is somewhat a duplicate of the one downtown but the only difference is there is a carnival here with rides and games for the kids. Each Mercado opens daily during Fiesta's at 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. El Desfile Historico Parade - This parade takes place on Friday afternoon. It is one of the nation's largest equestrian parades. You will see floats, mariachi's, flamenco dancers, and more. There is also a children's parade on Saturday which starts at 10:00 a.m. The list of fun events around town go on and on but In a nutshell if you haven't experienced Fiesta's then I suggest you put it on your traveling list! I recommend you reserve a room a few months ahead of time since they will all be booked if you wait or the prices will be insanely high.

My favourite part about the Fiesta was the confetti filled eggs! They were $1/4, but priceless on the amount of fun you have smashing them on your friends' heads! Fun fun fun!
