Tucked away in the Ventura Community park off of Kimball is a large aquatic center that I've been wanting to check out. I hear of this place every summer but never had the chance til this week. What a great place for kids to enjoy water play. But actually for the entire family too! We went during free swim time from 12-4pm and it was only $10 for ages 3 and up. There's a big shallow kiddie pool with water activities and then 2 water slides on the back side of the park. There's a rec pool that maybe goes to 4.5 ft depth so it's perfect for just enjoying the water when you can't lap swim because the pool is crowded. A large picnic table area can be found in the middle of the center too so you can being lunch and snacks too. There a larger Olympic size pool on the west end of the center that can be used for lap swimming so overall it's great for all ages and swimming levels. We're planning to be here quite a bit for the summer! There's also cabanas to change into and showers to rinse off before and after swimming. read more

Love, love love this place! I took shallow & deep water aerobics classes for the summer of 2025 here and had a good time experience overall. Mary is a great Aqua Fitness instructor and her classes are always packed with about 50 people per class. She is very knowledgeable, gives excellent queuing, and provides modifications for various levels, even for those of us who need more of a challenge. I have been able to get my heart rate up, get resistance, core & flexibility training here. I've noticed significant improvements in my overall fitness and physique. The pools & facilities are clean and in great condition. Water temperature is about 78 degrees and they have multiple pools to accommodate lap swimming, classes, and a kid's pool. The restrooms are pretty clean, contain 3 private shower stalls, multiple open showers, and a machine to wring out your bathing suit which is a plus. I hope to be back next summe read more

The reviews were correct. The staff (male in blue outfit on pool deck) was extremely rude and belittling to a lap swimmer. We were offended by his attitude to the swimmer. The competition pool is not set for 50 meters; They run 25 meter lanes and those lanes are limited at best. Lap swim is crowded and expect to share a lane regardless of the time of day. Nice area for family and kids to play around in the water and enjoy. Its $10 per person for each person that gets in the center whether they're using the pool or not. They have few 2 water slides. One for kids and the other for older kids and adults. I think its a nice center for families to come and enjoy their time. I believe on the weekends they have morning or afternoon sessions but for weekdays its one session which is the afternoon. Ventura NEEDS MORE PARKS! In Japan, we have parks all over outside of the big city. I appreciate how well maintained this one is though. However, there is no where near enough bathrooms for the amount of people that populate the park on the weekends!!! It's pathetic! Those bathrooms get nasty quick because you have hundreds of people all using the same 1 stall (mens side). Other than that, lovely park to take my women out for a stroll after dinner. I CANNOT BELIEVE I HAVEN'T BEEN HERE SOONER! My family and I have been here 2 Sundays in a row. The first Sunday was 2 weeks ago and the last was the Sunday before Labor Day and what a perfect way to spend a Sunday! My husband had promised our nephew several weeks prior that he would take him, but so many things came up that we couldn't. So, on the first Sunday we went, we packed up our car with all the pool essentials (towels, googles, kids snorkel gear, extra clothes, food, drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses, flip flops, etc) and even chairs. We went first thing when they opened, which was already packed and had a line at 11 am, even though they opened at 11:30 am. We paid $24 ($8/person) and they were open until 4 pm that day. After we paid, we went through the hall that led to the pools and slide. We quickly made our way to the tables with seats, that had an attached metal umbrella and settled our things down. My nephew went off with my husband to explore the great big giant slides. One blue one, which was an open slide and the green one which was an enclosed tube. After getting up to the slide, my nephew chickened out of going down, but my husband did and he had a great time! After a little more coaxing, my nephew went down the blue slide, which I have a video of and he loved it as well! Right after that, he got back up the stairs to go back down the slide. He did this about 20+ times that day! I love how their is a large bathroom accessible from the outside, which plenty of bathroom stalls, open shower room and enclosed shower room. There is also these small cabana like stalls that are yellow and white stripes that zip up, just outside of the bathrooms, where one could change with out getting dirty. There is even a chair to set your stuff down or to sit down and slip on some pants or shorts. Aside from the awesome slides, there is a large pool that is about 4 1/2 feet deep at its deepest and there is a wading pool with all the hydraulics and pumps gushing water out of some great water features for the kids and adults to enjoy. The facility is mostly concrete but there are some grassy areas for those that want to set out a blanket or towel to lay out or to have a picnic. Everyone is welcome to bring what they need and food and drinks. There are lounge chairs set up along one side of the perimeter and some others facing the pool and the water features. There is also some more tables with seats and metal umbrellas along the left side, past the pools. There are life guards everywhere on the facility and it is well staffed, so it is very safe, but I would suggest you still keep an eye out for your little ones. All in all, I had a great time and my family really enjoyed themselves. Last Sunday we went with a group of friends and some kids and it was probably one of the best Sundays I've had in a long time! Great experience today, holding a birthday party at Ventura aquatic center. We made reservations a month in advance. They're busy during the summer months and when the weather is great. A down payment deposit of a minimum of 20 ppl is requested $120 during the off season. Sept is considered the off season. You pay for ppl that are not swimming as well. My parents are elder, and couldn't get in the water, but had a great time sitting in the sun and ppl watching. Worth every dime. Our little one had a blast, we mixed her two loves together which are her family and splishimg and splashing with her cousins. We ordered pizza from Toppers which delivered to the aquatic center. We also had too much food for this hot weather. Highly recommend keeping it simple. I had salad/ veggies which no one ate because they were too busy swimming and playing. The pizza, fresh fruit and little bundlettes from Nothing bundt cakes were perfect. Hand held food is easiest to serve and clean after. We also brought lots of sun screen for our guest, because stuff like that is forgotten. Our guest had a blast swimming, going on the water slides and relaxing by the pool. The best part was the clean up was easy. And the party lasted 3 hours, from noon to three pm, no exceptions. I noticed the employees working hard, cleaning up after the guest. My son took the Jr. Lifeguard classes here and they were not what we expected. Three teens taught the class and he said they messed around the whole time and were not serious about teaching the skills that the class offered. I was expecting someone serious to teach the class so they could learn. I gave the Aquatic center a 3 star because I love the waterpark. Just not the classes. It's too bad. read more

This place is awesome! Here is the rundown.... It is $8 to enter for all ages above 3. They said it is $5 in the off season. Still worth it if you ask me. There is a huge play area with climbing structure and tons of sprayers and water pouring out all over the place. Super fun. The water is just above 2ft in most areas. Perfect for little ones. Then there are two water slides that you can ride. One is a tunnel and one is open. You have to be 42 inches. Our 4 & 5 years had a blast on them! You can bring your own drinks and snacks too which is great if you want to save money or have a picky eaters in your family. There is also a pool that ranges from 3ft- 4'6" deep. Although there are lifeguards on duty, you'll want to keep an eye on your little ones in there if they are not efficient swimmers, especially if it's crowded. The music playing is upbeat 70s & 80s disco and dance. Think Diana Ross's "Upside Down" and "Carwash" blasting. Silly and fun. There isn't a ton of shade, but you can bring your own umbrella and chairs. If you are not there and in line when it opens for the day, is recommend bringing your own. Be careful taking your kids here for swimming lessons. The staff are all young kids who seems to know next to nothing about working with actual kids. The website tells you what ages to sign kids up for classes with but aren't clear about their actually swimming capabilities. My son was signed up for his age group, they didn't check in with parents and when he got in the "teacher" asked if he could swim and when he replied he couldn't really, she sent him to swim to the deep end and back alone. He got scared and thought he was going to drown once he got halfway and she finally got to him when he was splashing around trying to breathe. This was his first class and first 2 minutes of it and he's completely traumatized. They didn't make sure he could get in another class, just kicked him out so he can watch his sibling and friends in classes he unfortunately needs to be at since they won't refund those. Save your money and pay for real lessons, this place is a hazard at best. read more

Took my son today to have some fun and it did not disappoint. We made reservations the day of by calling them as the online system doesn't recognize cell phones as a computer device ( something like that but not the exact terminology). They have tables with umbrellas that are very popular. A young lady tried to tell my brother in law she reserved the table we were sitting at but little did she know, we knew it was first come first serve. My son loved the water slides and swimming in the pool. We stayed 2 out of the 3.5 hours allotted for open swim. Really liked that you can bring your own food and beverages (alcohol not allowed). We'll definitely be going back! Please note: A line starts early for admission as people get in line early so they are the first ones in to get their fav spots to sit. read more

I'm not normally the person to leave reviews, however this was such a bad experience and bad customer service that I felt it important. My husband and I went to open swim just a few days ago with our 11 month old twin daughters. We arrived shortly after 1p. We were meeting our family there for our nieces birthday. When we arrived we fed our daughters and as we were getting ready to take our girls to the kiddie pool, it was closed (probably for poop, so I understand that.) I'm not sure why but it was taking forever to reopen that pool so we were going to take them to the other pool so they at least could get in the water since they couldn't go to the water slide as they're obviously too little for that. Well that pool closed for some unknown reason pretty shortly after. So now both the pools our infants could go in were closed and they didn't even make it in. We waited until 3ish and both pools were still closed. Our twins were obviously getting antsy and tired so we left shortly after 3. I was given a card to call a guy for a refund (because we didn't even step into the water and had already been there for 2 hours with no known time to get in the pool except finally a tentative time.) I called and talked to the guy and he said he'd call me back-cool-I'm thinking at least we'll get a refund, we'll try again some other time. He calls me back to tell me the supervisor said they wouldn't be giving refunds because they did reopen the pool. And I was like, "umm well when was that because we left around 3ish and they were closed with no promised reopen time." He tells me it was reopened to the public at 4pm. And I replied "isn't that when you guys close?" And all he says is well I wasn't there so I'm not really sure what happened but it was reopened at 4. To which I'm flabbergasted because I'm thinking then why in the world was your card given to me and I was told to call YOU if you have no answers? Anyways, I understand it's not super expensive but with how expensive California is now a days, we threw away our money and received no sympathy at all because I was also like, "so what was I expected to do...sit around with our infant daughters and wait for the pool to maybe reopen? We were planning on leaving around then anyways because our infant daughters have naps they were already late for but we were trying to make it work." So frustrating and really awful service to close your pools for hours and then not be willing to refund your young families understanding that a young family is not going to be able to sit around for hours waiting on a maybe. read more

This has been one of the best swimming places that I have ever been to. I was from out of town for a couple of days and looking for a place to work out. Because I went in November, none of the crazy summer event slides or or children were there. Instead it was just very calm lap swim and the facility was extremely clean and the pool was so wonderfully heated. It cost about five dollars per day, and I will definitely come back if I'm ever in town. read more

THEY. PACK. THEM. IN. Holy crap they will pack the bodies in. It almost seemed unsanitary. They do hour poop or water checks. This place totally freaked me out. So many bodies in one pool I hardly wanted to put me feet in. My little toddler loved it but I was disturbed. I do like that you can bring an ice chest in, but I'd pick casitas water park ANY DAY even though it's more expensive and you can bring food in because of the bees. Always fun and clean. The life guard's always are smiling and making sure all the kids are following the rules there. The water is at a perfect temperature for the family to enjoy. the aquatic center is very hard to register for classes. It seems it is practically impossible to get in a class. Perhaps u should limit patrons to one class a week so others who aren't part of the usual clientele so new ones can join many of the women I know register for all of them and no one new can get in. a lot of us working stiffs can only go a certain day. I think you need to open it fully now so and have individual classes like u used too. They have changed the six feet space to three and we mostly vaccinated. I never had problems getting In before. We have always enjoyed having this place but this year we took advantage of their dive team they offer. What a wonderful experience it has been. The coaches have made this learning experience a fun one as well. The practices are frequent and they work with the children well. My child has not only learned the basics of diving but has also learned how to practice every day and also be on a team. Great, safe to take kids and kids at heart. You can take your own food and drinks, just no glass allowed. Life vests available to borrow and lots of friendly lifeguards on duty. Slides are lots of fun and Kona Ice available to purchase. I did notice the lifeguards having to stop really small children from getting into the pool on their own. Even with all the lifeguards on duty, I definitely recommend keeping on eye on your little ones. Swim suits are required for all those wanting to get in the water. The parking lot can be difficult to find parking since it could get full fast. You can park on the side or in the dirt parking area after you drop off at the front. When we can there was a line but it move pretty fast. $5 dollar a person to get in. Few tables options by the lap pools it's can be first come first get or if you're there for a party the first two table is reserved for the I think under the red and yellow. Water pressure in the activity area can be a bit hard especially on the younger kids. There was one lifeguard that blew the whistle on every thing and it was quite annoying at time kids are their to have fun and I get there are policies but really every 2 minutes? Perhaps he should work on his customer services skill and not tell me to get the other person I do not know for him to talk to or what got me annoyed is why would you say to a parent " is that yours?!" Like she's a foreign object or something? They do a "routine check" every 30 min or an hour which is quite annoying too. They announced that the last one they would do is at 3:30pm but the did one at 3pm it's quite annoying when it's a bit windy and you have to get out and wait it get cold. Appears to me that when I decided to get a bit healthier, a bunch of my parts I had no idea existed, got together and said, "What the hell is she doing? Let's stab her here, Here, and HERE!" in a coordinated mutiny of pain these incorrigible parts figured would deter me. A good stretching, better (why does better equal expensive?) sneakers, and two Aleve have abated the mutiny and I continue my quest of feeling better. Alas, sometimes the beach walk is still too much but the Kimball Park Aquatic Center is a great alternative. A beautifully maintained circular path around the park is great for a low impact walk or jog. Friendly people and lots of happy fur babies complete the scene. If you want to venture off the path, there is also a path which takes you all the way to Hill Road via an avocado orchard. That path continues to the overpass but I stopped and turned back and look forward to see where that trail leads another day. See you there! read more

I love this outdoor pool! My boyfriend is from Ventura so every time we come visit it's a must that I swim here. They have tons of spacious lanes. I've never had to circle swim no matter what time of day I come, sometimes I even get my own lane! Water temperature is perfect for getting a good workout in. It's not hot like most gyms have their water temperature set. The water is always clean. The locker rooms are okay. They have open showers and a suit dryer. The best thing about this pool is once I'm in I just wanna keep swimming outside in sunny California! So refreshing! read more

This review is for both the aquatic center and surrounding park. The aquatic center has three pools: A large, deep pool with lanes and three diving boards, a small wading pool with an irrigation-themed play structure and a medium pool that goes from around 3' to around 8'. The latter two pools are quite warm. The aquatic center also has 2 water slides. One covered, the other not. As of the summer of '10, there are only 2 baseball diamonds, but more are planned. There are several soccer fields. My family uses the park mostly for the 1.5mi wide cement sidewalk around the perimeter. read more

I enjoy coming here in the summer my kids can play here all 4 hours. Make sure you bring a umbrella chair and food, you are allowed too. It get supper busy so a lot of people will get the good spots but if you bring these items you will be good. I love the water playground. It's great place to teach my kids how to swim. read more

Very nice place to bring the family for an afternoon of fun. They have open swim from noon until 3:30 PM on the weekends right now. Tons and tons of kids. There's a fun splash zone that's nice and shallow for the younger ones, and a 3 1/2 foot lap pool and two waterslides. We're having a great time. They do regular safety checks and the facility is clean and looks new. There was a birthday party going on when we arrived and it looked like everybody was having a great time. My only suggestion would be that the lifeguards learn how to say "walk please," and "get out of the pool and stay out five minutes," in Spanish. They keep shouting in English at children who don't seem to understand their words. read more

I love this pool for lap swim. It's never too crowded and often you get a lane to yourself. On the weekends, it's a bit insane in the public swim area, but they aren't allowed in the lap swim pool, thankfully. I don't like, however, that mother's bring their 9 and 10 year old boys into the girls changing room. It is concerning, especially when there are young girls changing. They need to put up a signs in English and in Spanish that forbid boys over the age of 5 years from entering the girls changing room. Otherwise, it's a great recreational aquatic center! read more
