Dear god this school. For Students like me, This has been by far THE most STRICT school I have EVER attended. Yes of course rules are perfectly fine with me but to THIS degree? Absolutely not. Firstly YONDR pouches are a nuisance and show just how little the staff trusts us. Constant YONDR checks everyday, if you get caught with a fake phone or no phone at all? Well it varies but for Me I had to talk to THE ADMIN. Are you serious? All over a phone by the way. Next, the teachers. Jesus Christ these teachers are just not very great. One of mine for health is Arrogant, cocky about the kids and all talk. Others are TERRIBLE at teaching and genuinely have me wondering why the hell im even here. My Mental health here was and still is at an all time low. Everyday I wake up and DREAD coming here, yes disliking school is normal but the fact I felt damn near suicidal (I wish I was joking) due to this trash and wretch of a school is insane. Yes there are good students here who have helped me, but the staff? Absolutely not. I can't wait for this school year to be over and I hope and pray on this school's downfall. My son is in the class of 2029. He also is part of the STEM Leadership Institute & plays basketball. I'm truly amazed at the quality of teachers he has for every class. I had a chance to meet all of them except for his English teacher at back to school night. This year is setting the bar high for the next three years! read more

I have experience at this high school and it sucks. The staff does not care when it comes to bullying or harassment. I've been bullied and my friend have been bullied for the majority of my time here at this school. There has been only one instant where a staff member stood up and it was one pe teacher. In a he past month there had been reports against the same group of guys and nothing has happened, one of the reports had been given straight to the vice principal and nothing happened, he didn't even go and confirm this happened with the teacher even though it happens every single time we have that class. The music teacher is a trumpet player who I've seen put down his own students to make himself feel better. He does nothing when it comes to bullying or harrasment and by this point where most of his students are being affected it's pathetic. Students are scared to report anything because nothing will happen and if it does that consequences will be put onto the victim and not the aggressor. A kid killed himself recently for bullying at this school and from what I've heard nothing happened to those people who did the bullying and the memorial put in place has been brought down. I went here my freshmen year a long time ago. This school used to and still does host a ton of events not related to the high school. It's a nice campus and if you apply yourself you can get a good education here. I have friends who's kids go here and they love it. I hope they keep up the high standards and don't let anything get in the way of educated our youth. read more

Yay! First to review. I have many memories here. Fair share of good and bad. What high school doesn't? My class of '01 did a great job to ensure that the future students of SCHS would get a sick a** amphitheatre, football field, baseball field, and swimming pool. More to come! This review is for the attendance lady, Every time I call or go in she is so rude! She has the biggest attitude and seems like she hates her job, I just called in to have my daughter taken out of school early and she was so rude and very unpleasant this is not this 1st time I've had an issue with her last time I went in to pick up my daughter I had to wait over an hour for her, it wasn't until Mary the security lady over herd that I had been waiting for over an hour that she took it upon herself to physically walk to her class to get her for me. Back to today she just says okay hangs up on me, never okay I'll call your daughter up right now or doesn't say bye she just hangs up. I don't understand why she works at a front off when she clearly hates her job and dealing with people! I emailed the principal and hoping to get response or a call back. read more

My High School will represent my Centennial review! I could've easily went to some restaurant that Elites frequent but I want my 100th review to have meaning to me and who I am...and thats a SCHS Bruin. Some of my best years if not best came from my 4 years as a Bruin. It does help that I played football and was pulled early from class every Friday that we had an away game. But still there was no better feeling playing under the lights at Buchser and going to the frat parties after the SCU Broncos played or before a Saturday game.It was epic because I only got that experience my freshman and sophomore year. Aside from football I enjoyed my crowd I hung out with. Till this day we are all still friends...some of us are even employed by the same employer or keep in contact via social media. I got great direction from all my teachers and most of the office.I can go on but SCHS layer out the foundation for me.I has a tough upbringing but my time at Santa Clara gave me some sense of direction. Even after being uprooted to East Side San Jose where I would've became a James Lick Comet my Junior year and on I fought tooth and nail to convince my gramps to let me finish as a Bruin. He was against it but I won...because he let me and I finished my studies by becoming good friends with the VTA 22 line as that was my Uber till my senior year. I can go on for days about my time at SC albeit girlfriends, dances, Wilcox homecoming, my crew, concert choir, cutting to go to Togos or 7-11 to play Mortal Combat or football rallies. Man that was the time of my life and I love being a Bruin. FYI. BE AWARE!!!!want to inform parents of the drug activity happening at this school. There are kids bringing edibles and offering to others in school. Unfortunately my daughter decided to not be smart enough to say NO and ate some which ended up in a bad situation where she had to be rushed to the hospital and admitted as this was not just marijuana it was laced with other drugs. Thank God she's alive however, it's super alarming and dangerous. I know it's not the schools fault however, I emailed the vice principal & principal when this happened and have not received a response (October 2018). This is something serious and should be taken care of immediately, and inform other parents of what is happening on school grounds. Hope this information helps other parents be aware of what is happening and what their children are being exposed to at school. Also want to share some feedback about Mr. Benjamin Wylam. He is one of the science teacher here at SCHS. I had reached out to him previously because I was concerned about my child's education along with reaching out to her other teachers and by far he was the most unpleasant person to speak to. He didn't want to accommodate her in any way. Why is he teaching if he's not willing to help his students??? Maybe he should retire or choose a different career because teaching should be where a teacher cares, wants his students to succeed, and provides the support/help to his students. Also, sounds like he may be racist. There's been many instances where my child told me that he tends to always forgets to the pass out assignments/papers to just the minority kids in his class. And when they go ask for the paper he says "well there is no point to give them to you guys because you're not going to do it anyways." REALLY?? This is beyond unprofessional and upsetting to know that these kind of teacher "teach". Please parents be aware and help your children move class/teacher if they have this man as their science teacher. He needs to be let go as he is no use (unless you child is not a minority) he/she will be helped. Also my child was diagnosed with a learning disability and did need the help! Overall, most staff/teachers have been helpful with this process and I am thankful for all their hard work and dedication with my child's case. Please as parents advocate for your children and don't allow teachers like Wylam teach your children. read more

Wait, for real you all are giving this place 5 stars??? This was my local high school, but I opted out and went to private school instead. Up until then, I went to public school. my main problem with SCH is the amount of complete bullshit that you have to put up with from students who don't want to be there. I shadowed here when I was in 8th grade. Of the numerous schools I visited, private and public, SC high was by far the WORST. Case in point: a teacher who would not let me go to the bathroom, before class had even started! A teacher who could not control the kids, who were disruptive. A teacher who could barely speak english. A teacher who could not spell basic words. And that was only in the classes I visited before lunch! Wilcox (Santa Clara's other public high school) was infinitely more inviting and appealing. Plus': -people get along pretty well here. My friends from middle school are mostly all still friends, and they're all still around, unlike my private school friends. -there are some unique, awesome peeps who went here. I didn't realize how awesome some of the people I grew up with were until I looked on myspace at people from other local schools. Santa Clara has them beat with creativity and uniqueness. -There were some amazing teachers in the honors program, which my sister did. Negatives: -unless you are in the honors classes, you waste a massive amount of time in classes that are teaching to a very low denominator. -there are tons of wanna be thugs and kids who like to brag about being on probation. -tons of cops on campus, a lack of trust between administration and students. I'm sure there are more pros to this school, all I know is that I opted out, because I knew if I stayed in the public school track here, I would have either started up a drug habit, or just dropped out and gone straight to community college. good times. read more

haha who knew you got yelp your high school? these were some good times with my friends. the teachers here were pretty cool. one of my favorites was my math teacher Mr. Barber. school dances were not bad either! the school was pretty diverse in my opinion compared to some of the other schools. one thing that did suck was how nicer the school got after i freaking graduated in 01' i drove by it once and saw they had all kinds of new buildings! other than that school was easy here, graduated with a pretty high GPA and i didnt even try hahaha! read more

I graduated in 1993 (oh man, it's scary to write that) but I've also been back to present a couple of times over the last few years. The leaps and bounds this school has made are amazing. The feeling is nothing like when I attended, and that's a good thing. The new set-up for the school is so much better, it's insane to think that we were once largely in trailers and there were less than 25 computers in the entire school. 5 stars for the school itself....the 1 star given here is for the front office. There is Sharon (don't know her last name) who I believe (from talking with other people) has been there a long time - she is personable and does her job well. That is the exception.... There is a woman (you know who you are) who is so inappropriate in the way she treats the students there that it is completely apparent she does not like her job! So get a new one! You are rude, you are undeniably unfiltered in your tone and words when speaking with students and you work in the front office! You are not a teacher or high paid executive you are a glorified receptionist. My child had the unfortunate opportunity of experiencing her callus behavior and I have chosen to let it slide and chalk it up to "maybe she was having a bad day". Next time I will go to the school, the district office and anywhere else I need to go. I personally have had experiences with at least 2 other office personnel that were to say the least unpleasant and awkward. SCHS should evaluate the front office and determine if these are really the people to best represent your school. Maybe they have been there a long time, however they have become too comfortable in the environment and are now unprofessional. read more

Whenever I want to go on a walk with my girlfriends I usually suggest that we hit the track at Santa Clara. It's smooth, uncrowded, and located really close to home. I honestly miss walking on this track whenever I try to go somewhere else. Thank you Santa Clara! read more

Went for daughters volleyball tourney....gym was well maintained and tournement was welll organized

This is a very decent school with good teachers, it may have some teachers with a different style of teaching but nothing to complain about.​ It is a closed campus which is a plus. My kids have not complained of any bullying or any other crazy incidents. There are numerous clubs kids take advantage of. This is just the right amount of pressure on kids with a mix of honors and AP classes. There is also a focus on stem and it has a fablab on campus that kids can take advantage of. My experience with the support staff has always been positive. I would highly recommend this school. read more
