So I was here for a school field trip, for our 1st graders. We visited to the Planetarium, and the hosts were super helpful and gracious. The 1 hour program was good, but I felt the introduction video, with "Luna the moth", wasn't age appropriate for our kids. It felt too babyish and they weren't interested in that part. The rest of the program was great, and it kept their attention throughout the rest of the program. I think also more interactive content would be helpful, instead of the kids staring up at a screen for 1 hour. Also not being able to record our field trip inside was a bummer, so we don't have any evidence of what we saw. I understand their policies, but it would be nice to have some pictures and video of what they saw during the show. The person hosting too, was pretty dry lol. Her voice was very monotone and her jokes were a lot of 80's references, which was way over their heads, because they're only 7 years old, lol. read more

I went to De Anza from 2014-2019. After getting academically disqualified from SJSU and not being able to reenroll in classes I needed to retake, I thought going to De Anza would be my best option to pick myself up, and it was. The professors were super nice and wanted you to pass your classes. Coming in, I thought De Anza would be super easy and I wouldn't have to put in any effort; I was somewhat right and wrong. Some of the classes were easy and fun; with only 20-30 students in a class, the classes were more intimate than bigger CSU or UC classes. Some of the classes were legitimately difficult, but they were passable if you really put your mind to it. The food in the cafeteria and cafe were affordable and delicious. I loved the sandwiches, coffee, and instant ramen. Parking is bad in the morning-afternoon, but empties out around late afternoon. Traffic on 85 is bad around 3pm though so I personally liked going to evening classes. Wish I put my mind into my studies a little more back then but hey I have a bachelors degree now and am in grad school. De Anza's classes and professors were there for me when I had nobody to help me. I'll always appreciate my time there! read more

I tried being nice to everyone in professor Lei's class and the vsa meeting to , but Meg Kim from chi Leis class and Darlene from vsa are both very verbally abusive to me and they are both very rude , and very disrespectful and they both treat me like trash , meg Kim lashed out on me when I was gonna try to communicate casually with her and show her my assignment so she could tell me her thoughts about it and Darlene unprovokly blocked me out when I never did anything wrong to her by accusing me of making her uncomfortable and abusively telling me that I don't click with her , for those of you who see them both as good people , your misguided because they both treat me terrible and they give me a terrible horrible no good very bad 2026 , all I did was treat them with dignity and respect and this is all I get from them both I also think it's very unrelevant that somebody does not take action by kicking Darleen out of the vsa club or even for Meg Kim to be suspended for the way she treated me because they both deserve bad consequences for their actions and all they both want to do is ruin my days and make me upset at de anza read more

I am thankful to De Anza for so many ways. However, having attended De Anza during the covid years, I wish the professors and school were a little more understanding with the situation on hand. It is pretty understanding that everyone converted their grades to P/NP during the pandemic. However, the website actively discourages people from doing so in bold letters. The professors were not much help either. I was concerned about my GPA and the professors simply said "I can't do anything" (btw, this is for a B grade). Everywhere I go in the Bay Area, I have been actively discouraged and people outright lie instead of helping me. Then I find out there was an obvious solution this entire time. I am also mad at the advisor for discouraging me to pursue my dreams, saying that "admission is not guaranteed." This was also during covid. I ended up transferring under another major, which ironically put me on the path of my dreams. After my competitive FUHSD high school failed me in so many ways, I am thankful that De Anza gave me the chance to get my life back on track. I wish I had the chance to attend this school in person. It was not easy transferring during covid and there were many hiccups along the way, but De Anza became a bridge to a better future. read more

Yes! Great place ( I attended ), and pretty. Hard to understand why they have so much in line with so much beautiful real estate. The platform in the pool is gone! And the cross country team,powered by my son and his elder class men have done really well this year and looking forward to track season! Things were a lot different when I first started going to school here in the early 2000s. Teachers were wonderful and were always so thoughtful and eager to teach. A lot has changed though and for the campus, many new buildings to enhance students', teachers', and visitor's experiences for the better. However not everything changed much or at all when it comes to the school's disability resource center where I have been a part of their program since I first came to De Anza College. A long time ago I had an amazing counselor who had a special way of listening to me and helped me to succeed and surely, I was thriving back then. More recently I came back and began taking adapted PE classes and my teachers as well as teacher aids have been phenomenal. They've all been there and supported my journey on getting healthy and stronger and even provided a lending ear when I just needed someone to talk to. In regards to the administrative side of things, I rarely got to speak with anyone when I needed to speak with anybody. One person though Patti, who was the front desk contact and later on Kim, have been there to help me find the support I needed. The sad thing about this is how all the counselors work mostly at home now or off campus. They're rarely in the office to help provide counseling services. It is an entirely different vibe when you come into the office. One thing that needs to be said is the way one former teacher who was the driver for all disability program students acted unprofessionally one day recently to the point of nearly coming off as a bully. She later acted as though she was the victim of verbal violence, even accusing me of using profane language when that was an outright lie. She refused to take me back to my car across campus when my class was over and even lied to her boss about me using foul language when that never happened. Since then I've been threatened by the said boss to no longer receive any transportation help to and from class which I only had fully for one class and not the other two classes I had. She had her way of talking that degraded my travel accommodations, prioritizing certain people like they were of greater importance and even told me so. The previous driver often rushed me even though I have partially torn ligaments in my knees and would shame me for getting a ride at all by reminding me of how she had to help other students too while giving me a ride like I was taking up all of her time. She was biased towards me from the first time I met her and was always much less hostile with my friends and classmates who I shared rides with. It didn't matter how nice or polite I was I was still wrongly judged and treated differently even if they (the driver) never said it. Their actions demonstrated that each Tuesday and Thursday when I was supposed to be taken to my strength training class, just impatient and unhappy to help with the ride or ride share. The thing to top it all off is the recent accusation of using foul language to this person when it was an outright lie and then people continuing to react in this inaccurate and derogatory way, is what is driving me to not want to continue as a disabled student in this disability support services program ever again. I'm not a smart person but this is something I needed to say and hope no one else who is a disabled student at this school has to endure what I had to endure. No one deserves to be judged by anyone especially by those who claim to be supporting all disabled students. read more

I'd rate them zero stars if I could. The veterans office talks down to me in an emotionally abusive way. They are racist & jealous individuals. They discriminated against me since I'm Black & Hispanic & a disabled veteran. Jealously is a toxic trait to have. They have no customer service and do not welcome foothill students especially if you're Black even though they are supposed to be sister schools. Everyone in the veterans office I've spoken to has an attitude and talks down to me. They need to be fired. They need diversity representation in the office, actual veterans and people actually trained and competent enough to work with a population as vulnerable as veterans. This review is specifically for the LIBRARY: As a student who enjoys going in to campus and appreciating all student resources provided, I tend to go into the Library a lot for books and what not. There used to be a very kind lady who used to run Library services, who would go above and beyond to help in any way or form. Lately there's a guy, Francisco, who has by far had the WORST attitude, not very kind (which is OK to have bad days but consistently?). He literally looks miserable working and projects this attitude towards students. Returned a few books and turns out I actually bought one, so I asked if I could donate it, he was SO ANNOYED at the fact that I asked if i could leave the book for some other student who most likely would need it, then asked him if he could dispose of my return receipt, he was SO HESITANT to do this minor favor. I cannot express this enough if you are angry at the world, the world is not against you, students are not your punching bags, you don't get to dump your attitude to others just because you are miserable where you are. We already have a work load and stress from classes the last thing we need is to go into a given resource & dread it because of the unhelpful, literally MEAN, sounds childish but true, person working behind student services. Please if you are not content, do NOT take it out on students. The face of student services should feel welcoming. FRANCISCO sending you love and healing. read more

This is a great college to study at. With plenty of classes and courses they offer, there is an endless amount of learning, and they are so affordable. People like to connect here which is great, and the professors I have so far truly care about the student's success. Having studied inside the Advanced Technology Building, the irony to its name is that the internet is actually really bad, especially when you go underground for film classes. The internet will need to have better accessibility below so we can search up the web and do research on projects while we are down there. The people there have been fantastic and I am happy to have studied here. read more

I forgot to much deserved recognition to LeeAnn Emanuel when I previously wrote this review! LeeAnn Emanuel is is a extremely gifted Psychologist and she's also DSS Counselor at De Anza College. LeeAnn is the absolute best counselor that I've ever had in college. She is extremely kind, compassionate, patient, and she is wonderfully talented in advising. LeeAnn helps so many students, myself included, and so much so that I myself couldn't imagine what my life would be like without LeeAnn, she truly is a wonderful soul. read more

So far, 2 excellent professors, 2 average professors, and two dead awful. Nice campus. People are friendly by Bay Area standards (not saying a lot). People assume you agree with them. They say all the correct things but have no follow through or application in their actual lives. Unless you are required to use them, avoid counselors. Waste of time. Use the transfer requirements sheets on their website and RateMyProfessor.com. Good place if you're trying to transfer though. Avoid Kaur and Chivers. I attended De Anza on and off from 2009-2019. Having nearly 10 years of experience taking classes, I feel like I am more than qualified to talk about my time as a student: Class registration: One area of the school that I cannot overlook. Classes in the popular departments (Bio, Chem, English, Math, Physics, etc...) fill up extremely fast. Do not be surprised if you end up on 2-3 waitlists prior to the start of the quarter. It is not uncommon to take 3 years to transfer or finish a degree here. Foothill college (De Anza's sister school) does not fill up nearly as fast, so be sure to register for classes over there if you do not want to have any delays in your education. Teachers: Hit or miss for the most part. Do be sure to use ratemyprofessors.com when selecting classes. I've had fantastic professors while at the same time also having really bad ones. You should be fine as long as you are a responsible student and seek help and stay on top of your studies. Campus: Campus is flat and fairly easy to navigate. Dining options in the cafeteria aren't too bad, and there are plenty of options off campus as well. The library was renovated a few years ago and makes a great place to study. Do make sure to take advantage of the printing stations all over campus as it is very cheap! The students: Most of the students I encountered at De Anza were fresh out of high school or under 21, so if you are in 1 of those demographics you'll enjoy your time here. I was a nontraditional student so I definitely felt like I couldn't relate to a majority of my classmates. Parking: Not sure if it is just me, but I feel like a lot of the students here could use a few extra hours of driver's ed. If you have to drive, I recommend coming to school before 9 AM, otherwise you are going to have a very difficult time finding parking. I recommend taking the VTA since the clipper card fee is included in the tuition, and you get to avoid the parking lot mayhem. On campus activities: This school is perfect for you if you are looking to get involved in student body, clubs, and activities. The quad is always bustling with activity, Summary: There is a reason why De Anza is one of the top ranked community college's in California. Many students successfully transfer to top institutions such as UC Berkeley, UCLA, and even a few Ivy leagues. If classes did not fill up insanely quick, I would have given them a much higher rating. If De Anza is going to be your sole community college, be sure to plan out every quarter carefully and use all of the resources available. Overall: 3 stars read more

I'm biased because I started attending classes here in high school after feeling that my high school experience wasn't doing it for me. As an alternative to the traditional high school experience, I'm definitely a fan. Community college gets a negative reputation for being the go-to option for bottom-barrel students, but in my personal experience, this is not the case. Of course, there are the more motivated and the less motivated students, the better faculty members and then those who are not as good. Overall, I'd recommend community college, De Anza especially, to students who are looking to transfer to a four-year university. I attended from 2018 to 2021, transferred to a four-year in 2020, and then went back for one quarter in 2022 to finish up one last degree. Four associate's degrees and countless classroom memories later, I think my time at De Anza has officially come to an end. But if anyone ever asks, I totally recommend the experience! read more

The instructor Christina Lopez-Morgan is extremely awful. She has verbal and behavioral bullying behaviors towards some students in her classes. She treats different students with different levels of respect. She has horrible rude attitudes towards some students. She targets on specific "weak" students, yells at them, humiliates them with toxic words, and even inappropriate physical behaviors, and doesn't give them equal chances to receive scores in the class. Shouting, impatience, anger, and refusing to communicate is the way she treats the "weak" students. Don't take her classes. Stay away from her if you want to be respected. read more

The guy handling the book store pick was very very rude. First I called 3 times to check if my order was ready for the pick up. No one picked up for 3 times. The fourth time when the call was received by the guy he hang up twice and when I got hold of the call he was very rude. If you can't deal with people just don't work on service sector. read more

I reccomend using rate my professor online ! I only pick teaches with over 3 stars and it's so worth it!! It has comments as well so you can know exactly what students didn't like about their professor . Here to drop off my book I had borrowed from my teacher. Kinda sad I won't be coming here anymore because he was such a good teacher, and this school is full of amazing teachers. I am transferring to DVC then possibly to San Francisco state. Anyway I had prefessor Gregory druhel for politics and government and I absolutely loved his class! So informative and there's even the opportunity to join a study tutoring group session every week for extra credit. I of course did join. Anyway I'll miss this school. Not going to lie, I really like De Anza College when I used to go there. Some classes can be hard and stress, and some prof. can suck at teaching. However, I have a great experience like not classes related. I met a lot of great people and created great memories there. One thing though, financial aid service suck. Some people there don't know what they are doing at all so prepare yourself to go a lot. I will give them 2 stars. Overall, I am still giving De Anza a 4 stars because it is a good community college and the overall experience was great. read more

De Anza College has an amazing automotive program. The 3-year program offers electrical, engine and transmission certificates. Today, I took the automotive program tour during their car show event. I'm jealous that the students have such a great facility with passionate instructors. The instructors were saying some of the students actually use their own personal cars and engines to work on while taking their automotive program. If I lived closer, I'd want to go to this college!!! read more

First off, I'm not really sure how to rate this place. As a college this place is pretty low. However, as a community college this is supposedly one of the better schools. The IGETC program is great because it guarantees admittance to some of the UC's. The program is simple to follow (you take specific classes for your future major, maintain a certain GPA, etc.) and when you're done you have a clear idea of where you're headed. You can get all your GE's over with for a cheap price! Pros: - Non smoking campus - Quarter system (fast paced, but allows you to take more classes than on a semester) - Large campus size - Many classes offered - Good college contacts (guaranteed transfer to most UC's) - Easy online registration - Helpful and friendly counslors - Great place to meet people (people from all over the Bay Area go here and the age/ethnicity diversity is nice) - The best teacher, hands down, is Sal Breiter. He is very funny and energetic, and his classes are always interesting. If you can, try to take any of his Humanities classes, you won't be disappointed. Cons: - Horrible parking (hard to find a place during peak hours, plus you'll probably leave with several dents in your car) - It's like high school - Nobody takes you seriously - The classes are too easy (nothing like University), which I suppose could be a positive for some - Not many campus groups/organizations - Harder to maintain friendships since most people don't live in the same town. - Late registration times (for first years) and many classes fill up fast, but it gets better the longer you're there. read more

De Anza is preparing you for university life, so don't take it for granted. I went to school here for 4 years, mostly part-time although it wasn't the closest Community College to my area such as Chabot College, Mission College, and Ohlone College. So I commuted from Fremont to Cupertino to go here, but I took a lot of classes that were 2 or 3 days a week some Quarters. The campus is mostly flat there's a lot of trees, chipmunks running around, sometimes they were a duck or two on the campus especially over near the fountains. There's a nature garden that you can walk around and it has different types of plants. Around the campus there's a lot of grassy areas and places to sit on benches. They also have a great math program there so if you're not good at math you can enroll in that get a really good teacher, however you end up spending more time on math and you get regular tutors. I believe it was called the MPS math program. You'll end up spending more time on math because the teachers will explain it in more detail, so then the class is longer. Doli B. in the math department as an excellent teacher. There is a large pond and park across the street, and its nice to walk around, there's a lot of ducks there. If you need parking that's free there's usually parking right near there in the street. Otherwise you have to go and get a parking permit on campus, it's better to get a daily pass if you're only there two days a week. There's a lot of great teachers and their speech department is excellent. This Community College had a lot of counseling hours and hours of the administrative office was open and available for students as compared to the other community colleges that I visited near my area. I enjoyed and learned a lot from the classes that I took here. I completed my Associates Degree in Business and Computer Information Systems and transferred to CSU East Bay. read more

In 2016 I graduated from the paralegal certificate program. I did an internship at a small law firm with an attorney who personally knew the paralegal program director. The paralegal at the firm was also a personal friend of the director. I would assume that the firm I interned at agreed that they would provide me training because that is what they are obligated to do (interns are not free labor). I received no training and two years later I have given up on trying to find a job as a legal assistant or paralegal. Attorneys only want to hire staff with experience. I am experienced at scanning and filing client documents, but I didn't need to pay De Anza for that. I learned that skill years ago. Attorneys should not use internship programs as a hunting ground for free labor that offers no benefit to the student. That's a disservice to the entire legal profession. read more

Good school! Nothing wrong with the teachers or curriculum. My issue is with the students themselves. I currently go to de anza college but I'm giving them three stars because my friends and I are TIRED and I mean TIRED of having to pay OUT OF POCKET to fix our cars because students DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE AND WILL HIT YOUR CAR AND JUST LEAVE. I just wanna let the students who do this know that it is ILLEGAL to hit a car and leave without exchanging insurance information. A criminal offense for fleeing the scene! I love this school, it makes you want to be here; everyone is friendly for the most part. I would recommend people to come here for anything they need from nursing to machining, financial aid available, counseling, school clubs, etc. Police is also on campus, parking is very big and open and there is even parking across the street that you do not get hustled with. Around the area there are tons of places where one can go and grab a bite most places are healthy. Its never too late to better yourself! read more

I'm biased here too....I went here also. I had nothing but good times here. I have met a lot of good people and learned a lot. Grant it that it's been a while since I've attended anything there, but it seems like the place is only getting better. No where is perfect and it all comes back down to making the best of what you have. It was an immeasurable experience going there. Its been a couple of years since I graduated from De Anza but it was definitely the best community college experience that I had. I started at Evergreen which was pretty terrible in comparison to counselors and culture in general. I always had great counseling experiences with my advisors and professors were always pleasant. I absolutely loved the quarter system too! One of the few colleges in the area that offered quarter system classes. I felt so much more motivated knowing that sessions would go by quicker and I felt like I could get done faster. They have great transfer programs that you can follow too. I can't remember the last time I took a class here, it's been years. The fall semester has started and I was interested in taking a class for fun...so long behold, I drive onto campus. The class that I'm taking is pretty interesting, it seems like the professor knows what he's talking about. The lecture was pretty full too, there were lots of adds. So, it must be a good thing that I was able to register. Ok, more parking spaces...yay! Which lot? There are couple to choose from, so pick one that is near your classes, so you won't randomly have to look for your car, esp. at night. Nope, that didn't happen to me...As for the drivers, I think people are just rushing to get out of there to head home, so just be careful. As for the campus, everything looks in pretty good shape, some buildings are being renovated...like part of the Campus Center. read more

If you are international student I highly recommend you to search carefully! The ISP is not helpful at all!! They have only a few counselors, you always have to come back. The girl in the front desk is there to make number. You will pay expensive fee, the professors are good, but for the price you will pay I would wish much more assistance than what they offer.
