Literally, one of the slowest transit systems ever. I would love to work for this place. As a bus driver. Because you literally get to drive as slow as you want. I have had the WORST experience with Santa Clarita Transit. The drivers have passed me when I was at a spot on their route and shook their head at me, it is incredibly unreliable they are always late if they even show up. Tonight I had to take the 5 which stopped at a bigger bus stop and the driver said to get off the bus because her shift was over but the other 5 is 10 minutes away. The driver was super kind. The other 5 never showed up so I was told to get on the 6 that would go the same way. I waited 40 minutes for one to actually show up, got on one that all of the workers told me to get on, just for that bus driver to leave and tell us to get on a different bus. That bus took what felt like forever to start driving and I didn't even get home until almost an hour after I was originally supposed to. Absolutely horrible. This system is in no way reliable and when I confronted a supervisor about these issues her response was "these things happen sometimes". If these busses are late some people can't even get to their jobs if they take more than one form of public transportation. I have had horrible experiences on this system. Don't use it unless you absolutely have to. read more

The buses in the morning are terrible they are always late making the kids late for school and this morning the 7:10 bus 629 sierra and via princessa passed up my son and another couple of kids clearly standing there waiting . There is numerous days my son is standing out there for 30 minutes and the bus is late or passes them up. Enough is enough for bus 629 . Did he have somewhere else to be?? Have considerations of these kids waiting out in this cold that don't have parents home to take them . And then when you try to call the facility the phones hang up when you try choosing an option . I boarded the train on Christmas Eve in Newhall California. I am disabled at was the only passenger in that car. I went to the front of the car to get a cup of water but they were out. When the conductor appeared I asked if there were any water in another car and was told that that was not his job. I notified customer service and filled a complaint. They called me two days later making excuses for the rude young man. So if by chance you need assistance on the Metrolink don't expect it. This is how businesses are conducting business in this day and age and I find it disturbing. A you man on an empty train could not be bothered to do a kindness for a disabled passenger on Christmas Eve and was rude about it. Merry Christmas to you Metrolink. We came to LA and decided to take transits because of traffic. all the operators were pretty nice and decent howeve, except this one lady operator we met on Wednesday was droving Santa Clarita bus it was around 12pm dont know the name and the operator ID,but she was so rude, arrogan, and charged us double the fare. The buses are constantly late, and on top of that they will drive right past you at the bus stop. They switch up the scheduled route while you are on the bus and force you to get off because they won't service your area today. In Los Angeles, it is very hard to find reliable public transportation. Especially convenient reliable public transportation. It is almost never the most convenient option to take public transportation in a city designed for cars. I don't live in LA full-time anymore so I frequently fly down here and down have a car to spare. And I have being a burden to those that need to chauffeur me to and fro. But I recently discovered the 797 and 792 buses from Santa Clarita to Westwood. Which have made everything so much easier for those I want to visit. The buses themselves are always clean and comfortable. They are more like charter buses with comfy seat and lots of room than a regular city bus. The seats recline even. There is a panel above the seats for a light and air conditioning like on an airplane. The bus drivers have always been friendly in my experience. And the fellow bus riders are kind and courteous. I even made friends while waiting for the bus one time! The bus has never been too crowded. I have always had a row to myself. The 797 and 792 buses have been very reliable and have made my life so much easier! Thank you Santa Clarita public transportation!! I am really going to make a commitment to public transportation more often. As a commitment to saving our planet, saving my wallet and strengthening our community and economy! Cant wait to take this bus again! read more

This review is strictly for the Commuter bus to and from the SCV to Los Angeles. This review is NOT for the normal bus that traverses the Santa Clarita Valley. I take the 799 bus (6:15AM and 3:30PM from Downtown LA). The fare (which will be increasing slightly later this year) is very reasonable. For $160 month ($4.25 one way) you have a seat that reclines, individual lighting and airconditioning above your head. The drivers on the current run are quick and professional (especially the 3:30 driver). We normally get to our stop in the SCV within 5 minutes or less of the scheduled time. Save yourself over $70/month by NOT taking Metrolink. One advantage: If there is train problems you are stuck. Some of the train tracks are a single set of tracks. A bus has a steering wheel and can take alternate transportation! Lastly, avoid Tony the Turtle (driver). He is slow. I used to wait for the bus after his (first 799 bus in the morning) as it would sometimes pass him. He's safe but very VERY slow. He also complains about the bus company and how he should be working MTA or another bus company. His comments are unprofessional regarding other passengers. read more

Completely dysfunctional! I waited 2 hours for a bus this morning on main route Soledad Canyon Road weekday service every half hour. Called company put on hold for 10 minutes. Idiot didn't know why the busses were not running.. Called back second idiot put me on holdn another 10 minutes told me bus driver shortage -- so with no notice to anyone they cancel busses on the main artery? Asked to be transferred to general manager Hector Fuentez told he's not at work. Does anyone do ANY work there? Worse trying to get home tonight. Was going one mile home, driver says she has to turn off route to go to the Metrolink station goes up there no one gets on or off then she turns in the exact opposite direction from the route!!@ Where are you going everyone is asking!!! She says she has to go miles in the wrong direction to pick up some people. She drives us all across town to the transit center where again there are no people to pick up. We complain and the incompetent bad attitude batch sys get off my bus. I SAY WE ARE NOT GETTING OFF THIS BIS YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING GET BACK ON THE ROUTE!! We would have gotten off and transferred but it was the last bus. Finally get to my stop an hour late instead of 5 minute ride and she stops the bus 3 feet from the steep curb DELIBERATELY I'm elderly and disabled and gives me smirking dirty looks. I ask her to pull up closer to the curb so I can exit safely. She refuses says get off my bus. This is not your bus it is the transit system of the taxpayers and residents like me of the city of Santa Clarita. I tell her she better not pull off and make me fall while I have to climb down onto the street then climb up onto the curb and tell her she should get a job at Dollar Tree a job she can handle. Black woman middle aged long braids bus #33 Route 5 9pm. So, two rides just on one day absolutely Horrible Zero service. They are getting Zillions of dollars in federal and state subsidies plus fares -- like everything else here corrupt government insiders grift all the money and Horrible services. read more

I ride the 757 North Hollywood commuter express bus every Monday to Friday. It's the cheapest way to get from the San Fernando valley to Santa Clarita. I know taking the Metrolink would be nicer, but it's a little bit more expensive and this is the fastest and easiest way for me to get to work. $2.50 each way, and it's best to get a TAP card and reload that at Santa Clarita's City Hall. (I hate all of you slow MFers who take too long in putting your nickels and dimes and wrinkled dollars through the machine.) I'd say 85% of the time it gets me there on time to work (the 7:07 AM departure), and 60% of the time it gets me back to NoHo (the 6:01 PM departure). The late afternoon/early evening departures are very hit and miss because it depends on that annoying traffic on the 5 North coming back to Santa Clarita. I think it also depends on what buses they're using- I've had the unfortunate luck recently when they used one of the old city buses (not the commuter one with the nice seats) and the bus's engine was messing up and lights started flickering and we had to go to the shoulder of the freeway. Another bus was sent over and picked us up a half hour later, but oh well. I guess that happens when they use old junky buses? Not a perfect public transportation line here but better than nothing. read more

Buses are clean, they run good time frames between buses and the drivers are always friendly. Only issue is they don't work with Metrolink to coordinate a solid schedule TO and FROM the trains when dropping off in the AM and picking up in the PM. Every other agency will wait a couple minutes IF the train is late. But SCT? Nope! The drivers leave on the dot even if the train is approaching the station. read more

I've been taking Santa Clarita Transit for 3 years now since I started college at COC. If you're a young adult, the transit center is a good drop off destination if you need to get over to the Town Center Mall, which is across the street, or to COC, which is up the road. Both the physical bus schedule and the 5 digit numbers you can text are very reliable when figuring out when to head to a bus stop or when the next buses arrive. Both sources are useful to me as I have bus stops on opposite ends of the subdivision I live in, one in which only one bus stops by and the other which has plenty of buses stop by. I can't speak for everyone's experience with Santa Clarita Transit, but it's the choices you make that make your experience good or bad. My experiences with the transit system have been pretty good because I've figured out how to get around in multiple ways with the transit system. Sometimes it's more logical to catch my bus at a stop closer to me than walking all the way to the transit center for example. It's not perfect though. Routes 5 and 6 take awhile to get around. I've been to CC and Newhall a lot lately and I can definitely say that they take the longest to get around. Stevenson Ranch is especially confusing and needs to some work, because for starters, it drives through Newhall first before going to Stevenson Ranch. And then when you are in Stevenson Ranch, it doesn't even go to the Transit center, which is closeby. I was in the area and I decided I was better off walking there by crossing through COC. Bottom line, it has its moments where the routes could use work, but it's only $1 and it's a lot more convenient and saves me time plus helps me get around the valley. read more

ONLY for 757 NorthHollywood review: why is this service not as reliable as the other commuter buses???? Left work early to catch the 2:43pm at NorthHollywood. Driver came in at 2:50 and started moving only at 3:00 and then left at 3:05pm. These few minutes difference on time MATTERS for commuters. If Management cannot commit on time schedules, why bother to set a time??? Please Transit Management, take a good look on your NorthHollywood services. read more

I used to commute on the 757 to the red line. Yesterday, the 9:32 am bus left at 9:24. I called SCV Transit, requesting that that bus be turned around so that it would depart on time. (It was now 9:25, still seven minutes to the scheduled departure.) Essentially, management shrugged their shoulders at this issue. I guess at SCV Transit, the buses can depart whenever they'd like. Myself and 7 other riders had to wait over 30 minutes for the next 757 bus, making us all late to our jobs or other obligations. Management has not returned my call on this matter. In the end, I blame them for not requiring that bus to turn around and depart on schedule. From now on I will be taking the Antelope Valley Metrolink to get downtown. It's worth the extra $1 to know that if I arrive early, I will depart on time. read more

Ive never had any problems on any of the SCV lines, with the exception of the 757, which really needs to get it's act together. Don't get me wrong; I value its existence. I just need them to get the story straight. After riding to and from LA to SCV on the 757 line using nothing but a loaded TAP card for MONTHS, one TAP reader on one bus happened to not register my card as valid. That particular route had some kind of supervisor riding along, who graciously informed me that TAP cards that were loaded in LA dont work on the SCV buses. Oh really? Because every time Ive ever ridden a SCV bus with a TAP card, it was using funds that were applied in LA (as opposed to one of the eleven locations in SCV). Anyhow, I had sufficient cash, so I paid to ride. It only really occurred to me later what BS he was spewing, since the 757 boards in North Hollywood. And HEY! If that IS some kind of SCV Transit policy, way to go about making it public! Could this be part of the reason why so many 757 drivers are in such shitty moods all the time? And today I learned a new SCV Transit secret: If you load a TAP card with funds, it may take up to 24 hours for those funds to show up on the card. WHAT??? ARE YOU JOKING??? This is not a problem anywhere but SCV Transit, and is downright laughable. But then again, what do you expect from a transit agency that doesn't even EXIST according to Google Maps' transit route plotter. C'mon SCV. We're 14 years into the 21st Century already! read more

This review pertains to the 757 Bus out of North Hollywood. I decided to try taking it home one night from downtown L.A. instead of the Metrolink. I rode the red line subway all the way to the North Hollywood station. Once I arrived, I checked a map to ascertain where to catch the 757 bus to Santa Clarita. All of the maps say to wait at a stop on Lankershim. I waited there and the Santa Clarita bus blew right past me. Turns out, you are now supposed to catch it at Metro Bus Bay #14. I only figured that out because by sheer luck I saw the next bus coming and I stalked it to where it stopped.... about a whole city block from where the map says it stops. I told the bus driver the maps need updating but he just grunted. North Hollywood station is NOT a safe place for a female to be wandering around after dark trying to find where to catch the bus. UPDATE YOUR BUS STOP INFORMATION!!! Once I got on the bus, the rest of the ride home was nice. The 2 stars are only for that part of the commute. I would give negative stars to the whole "hide and seek bus stop" situation if I could. read more

How does one calculate a bus ride? Me thinks by looking at a map of bus routes, combined with time tables? Hmmmm. But today (the day that I need to ride the bus in order to retrieve my vehicle from the shop) there is no map available to look at. Just time tables. And I had to call in to find those, as any attempt to go to publicly available SCV Transit websites ends with a failed search. Also, attempts to download the offered android app to my phone result in App not found. As I spoke to the Transit person on the phone, she assured me that the website is up, and maps are available. (I guess its just me.) Then she tried to explain how to ride the circuitous bus system to arrive at my destination. I'd say that information is pretty hard to follow without a map of the route. Ee Gads! It will take about 2 hours to get there, if all the buses involved are on time. If I miss one, I could be traveling for the rest of the day! For God's sake, I could get there faster by walking! I noted that at the bus stops there is a QR code to tell you when the next bus is coming. However, the only information I could get was that there would not be a bus coming along for more than 30 minutes. REALLY? That's all I get? How about just letting me know WHEN the bus would come along. I don't really care about when it will not be there. Just when it is. And how about a link to a map of routes from the bus stop? Or, here's a novel idea, how about a map of routes POSTED at the bus stop? As the transit person on the phone told me, Those signs are for people who are familiar with the bus system. Well, how convenient for them. But what about people who are not familiar with the bus system? How do they get familiar? I tried every resource at my disposal, and I'm convinced that the whole system, website, routes, benches to sit on, are all a big hoax. read more

Doesn't get me always where i need to go. Extra walking is often in there. And those are its good points. There were times where my first bus was late so it made me miss my second bus, and sometimes when I'd pull the stop request wire the driver missed my stop and would leave me stranded somewhere that was nowhere near where I'm trying to go. Until you get your act together, Santa Clarita Transit, I'm going to have to downgrade you to 2 stars. Ever since the drivers changed their routes/schedules a few months ago, things have been a mess on route 799 of the commuter express. The first two to three weeks of the change, we had a different driver almost every day. These drivers were not familiar with the route, they showed up late and they drove slow. Really slow. We seem to have a somewhat regular driver now, but even so, we still get different drivers at least once or twice a week. One driver had to ask the passengers for directions and drove SO slow because she didn't know where she was going and was afraid she would pass up where she needed to be. Another driver didn't know how to turn on the air. Swear to god. She actually told me she didn't know how to turn on the a/c. Even though it's not summer yet, a bus with about 50 people on it gets hot and stuffy. It wasn't until we were almost at our destination that the driver figured out how to turn on the air. Come on Santa Clarita Transit, why are you sending out drivers that don't even know how to work the bus? This past Monday (4/25) the folks at Santa Clarita Transit sent out a bus with a broken a/c. Monday was pretty warm, so to cool off the bus, the escape hatch lid in the ceiling was removed. It didn't do much to cool off the bus, but it was kind of neat to have a sunroof. Our somewhat regular driver, Fu Manchu (I don't know his real name, I just call him that in my head), has the personality of a rock. Just seems to totally hate what he's doing and can barely say hi back to you. But he keeps the bus nice and air conditioned, unlike most drivers, so he gets points for that. I pretty much take the same bus in the evening, so I don't know how well things are working with the other buses on this route, but if the grumbling I heard behind me yesterday as we were waiting for our yet again LATE bus is any indication, pretty much all the buses on route 799 run late now. I will say that the folks over at Santa Clarita Transit are very responsive when I e-mail them with issues and they do a good job of resolving those issues. But all these different drivers and late buses are ridiculous. read more

I have been told by other people who wait at the same stop that sometimes the driver goes past the stop without stopping. I put in a complaint and still haven't heard from a supervisor. read more

Warning to motorcycle riders in the Santa Clarita valley. On Friday my son was on center point pkwy in the right lane. He was behind a city bus. The bus driver turned his left signal on and moved into the left lane. He made eye contact with my son and put his right signal on and moved back into the right lane. He shoved my son off the road. Once they were stopped at the red light this crazy bus driver got out of his bus, leaving it in the middle of the road full of passengers and proceeded to yell at my son. I have requested to view the recording of this incident. He could have killed my son. These city bus drivers are out of control. read more

I personally took the 1 bus to the transit center from Ave. tibbits to creek side in Valencia yesterday evening and the driver the was doing that route discriminated me because I paid my fare with change (dimes) and the driver grabbed my hand to see how much change I was holding and was rude and disrespectful as I told the driver that he has no right to grab or touch my hand , anyways got off the bus and the driver told a me " Next Time bring some real money." Sorry but I was very upset and felt discriminated because I was paying with change FYI change is money and it's what I'm paying for the driver to even have a job. This review is for Commuter Bus 799. I finally decided to try the alternative to the Metrolink, to lighten the burden on my wallet for the month. It ain't bad, folks. Now, mind you, the bus schedule and stops just work very well for me, given my office location at the Transamerica building (just a quick DASH D ride away); but even so, it's difficult to argue against saving $60 a month (Zone 5 EZ Transit Pass) and about a half hour each way. The key is to get on as late in the route as you can in the SCV, and get off as soon as you can in DTLA. The pitfalls: some buses can get very busy, especially the one that stops at Main & Temple at 5:07 p.m.; but even this is not an every time thing...buses are more pitchy than the train, especially in stop-and-go traffic, but I haven't gotten car sick yet...friendliness of drivers can vary (but I'm used to that with the conductors on Metrolink)...and the last bus departs DTLA at @7:00 in the evening, so much less flexibility for after-work fun (but even then I can grab a one-way Metrolink ticket for $10 and still come out ahead). And this is a thing that's up for judgement, but the riders are REALLY big on lining up in the exact same spot, every time. I got the stink eye one time when I was the first person at the stop (I make sure to look around me when I get there to make sure there is no one else for my particular bus) and because I didn't start the line exactly where it usually starts about three feet away, a bunch of folks that got there way after me tried to push before me (and even the bus driver opted to stop in front of "the line"). In my viewpoint, if there is no line when I arrive, I am the line. So it's a bit on the irritating end of whatever. But I think I can channel my B-Zen and be cool with that, given the other benefits. I'll probably continue for at least another month, and then re-evaluate. But it's looking promising. read more

Worst bus service I have experienced in my life. The buses are generally late or frequently just don't show up. I have stood waiting at the bus stop and had buses pass me by. My daughter was on a bus and it took a shortcut because he was 'behind schedule' skipping a few stops, one of which was hers. She had to walk 3/4 of a mile home when the local stop is 2 blocks from home. I have so many stories to share but I get more annoyed as I type so I will spare you. I end up having to call cabs to go a few miles and the ride plus tip runs around $20 one way! read more

I take the train back to Santa Clarita everyday. I am a senior disabled but I try to keep pace the best I can. I walk across the huge parking lot outside the Santa Clarita train stop- think it is the Route 5 or 6- that goes back to the Transit Center. They run terribly slow but today takes the cake. I am taking a medicine that can cause me to have to go to the bathroom in a hurry. I walked across the street and was seated waiting for the bus. I suddenly had to go and it was too far to head back to the bathroom across the street. A homeless guy stopped and saw I was in need of help. I had no other choice but to find an area down a hill - no choice. Then the bus passes by as I come running up the hill and the homeless guy is sitting there to get drivers attention. I saw her at 11:20 pass right on by. I am yelling for her to stop but she doesn't care. I just think there are opportunities to show you are paying attention to your job but this woman could care less. Boo hiss on her! read more
