It is funny, several months later, one of the last reviews I have to write for a trip that was now several months ago... one of the first places I stopped that trip, on our way to Portugal by way of an intentionally several day long "layover" in Madrid. I'm not normally a breakfast person, but, well, a lot changes when I'm on vacation, especially in cities so known for their food, and more specifically, their coffee and pastries. They do have a slightly confusing system for ordering - at least when I was there, the pastries are in the front and ordered individually from there, like a bakery, but if you're getting drinks to drink there, you have to sit down and wait for a waiter, then if you're getting both, get up again to buy pastries, which they will then put on your open tab. Thankfully, everyone spoke perfect English, so it was an easy enough explanation and process - still a bit weird though. And we still got our coffee orders in like 3 minutes. Coffee-wise, we tried their fancy "Dubai matcha latte", which was... very good, super flavorful, just slightly sweet (it came with a sugar packet if you wanted it sweeter, which it definitely didn't need to be.) Not sure it justified, to me personally, being so much more expensive than all the extremely affordable, less "specialty" drinks, but it was very good. Also a "bombon", a drink word I also learned that day, and then was sad when I didn't see it on the menus at any of the other coffee shops I stopped at, because it was quite good, and, again, also quite cheap. *Super* sweet, obviously, but great. (I was amused that that one *also* came with a sugar packet, which it *definitely* didn't need.) I also tried their chocolate croissant, which, yeah, wonderful. Their pastries are a bit pricier than the coffee drinks, but the croissant melts in your mouth, great chocolate, tons of it, and not, as is often the case with otherwise good chocolate croissants, only in the center. Chocolate actually everywhere. A great croissant. Would definitely be back here often, if I weren't thousands of miles away, normally. read more

My Airbnb host recommended this place and it is one of the best bakeries I've ever tried! Their service was very quick and they had a beautiful interior. Where they really shine is their baked goods. I highly recommend the chocolate croissant with a coffee! I should've went here every day on my vacation. My only regret is not going early on my trip so I can go there everyday! read more

I'm so thankful that my Yelp app always leads me in the right direction! My family and I were looking for a quick spot to stop and grab coffee in Madrid. I ordered their Pistachio latte con hielo (on ice) and we grabbed a table. Everyone enjoyed their coffees and the pistachio latte was really good (not overly sweetened, thank goodness). We got a few pastries from the counter and they hit the spot. Overall, a comfortable, beautiful space for taking a break and enjoying coffee with friends and family. read more

and....I'm back! Still one of my favorite bakery/patisserie/cafes ever. Such delightful, delectable, delicious baked goods. They make a mean cafe bombón which is a double espresso with condensed milk. Maybe a tad too much milk hence too sweet this time but overall the pastries and regular coffee drinks more than made up for it. The palmiers and croissants--light, flaky, terrific. Generous amount of dark chocolate in the pain au chocolat. Embarrassed to admit I've only ever had breakfast items so I haven't tried some of their dessert pastries but now I've realized this that means I'll have to go back next time! read more

The people working here are just so wonderful and match the calm atmosphere. Such a welcome escape from the overrun touristy areas. The food was excellent (spinach salad), and ordered a plate of jamon iberico. Lemon cheesecake was a hit. Coffee is solid but the fresh orange /apple/ carrot juice is fantastic. read more

First time and not the last. We came here 3x during our trip and could have made it daily if our schedule allowed. We had the honor of meeting Jose and his wife and got to know them and their history and understand their passion for their business. The quality of food and presentation accompanied by the wonderful people is a reflection of their dream. Great pastries abound, along with breads, desserts, and chocolates. Each and every time we visited, something new appeared for us to choose from. An option for brunch is also available including eggs served with toast and a tomato salsa along with wonderful coffee type drinks and freshly squeezed juice. The bakery is in the front and the cafe is in the rear with plenty of seating for 2 or more. The ambiance promoted comfort, simplicity, and the ability to easily have conversations or solo time. Walk in a view all the fabulous pastries. A few more feet to the dining room. You can go for the specialty coffee, or the interesting menu, but definitely get the orange juice. I don't know why it's better there, it just is. I got some scrambled eggs with sun dried tomatoes and crushed tomatoes to spread on my toast. All so delicious. Saint Eulalia is a MUST visit for coffee fanatics. As a tourist who only spent a few days in Madrid, I learned lots of restaurants rest on Mondays, so plan your trip around that lol I made sure I was there first thing Tuesday morning! Everything was yummy, whether it's the Saint Eulalia iced latte, macchiato or their pasteis de Belem. And don't forget to look down at the floor! I'm so disappointed- this cafe is so cute inside and the food and drinks were decent, however I was beyond disappointed with the staff. There was one employee working at the seating area we were in who was responsible for everything- making drinks, waiting tables and serving meals. He was the only gentleman amongst the staff who had darker skin and the treatment we witnessed from the other staff to him was absolutely DISGUSTING. One lady (appeared she could be the owner) went to his area and ended up dropping and breaking a glass, not only did she not clean it up she simply walked away and acted like nothing happened. I don't know if they thought we weren't paying attention or didn't speak Spanish but I heard him then ask another gentleman to get the broom for him which he never did. My friend then had to not only leave his station where he was working non stop to go get the broom to clean the mess up, he also had no help from anyone for anything. Another woman brought our food past our table to drop off at the counter and when he asked her to bring it to our table for us (he pointed at the table to show her and he was busy making a drink) she said loudly and with a ugly attitude "I don't have time for that" and proceeded to WALK BY OUR TABLE to go back to her pathetic corner and left him to serve us himself after he was done making all The drinks for the table next to us. It made me sick to see the way they treated him- I went up to him after and told him in Spanish I was sorry for how they were treating him and it's not okay and we proceeded to have a brief conversation before I tipped him and left. Bottom line: I would not come back here and support such an ugly business Highly recommend if you're Black or Brown (or simply don't like supporting racist businesses) to avoid this establishment at all costs. Lovely cafe for a cappuccino and pastry. Nice atmosphere. Quieter area in the back has WiFi - several students seem to be regulars here to study. Staff is quite nice to those of us who struggle with Spanish. Highly recommend! read more

I stumbled across this place which is very close to the main downtown area of Madrid and came a few times over the days I stayed in Madrid. Great coffee, the pastries are delicious and the ambience is truly relaxing. I would recommend going if ever in Madrid. Came in on a Wednesday morning and got an iced latte which was fantastic! And it is difficult to find cold coffee drinks in Madrid. They let me sit here for about 4 hours to study with my one drink and even offered free water. Very nice on the inside with what looks like great pastries. The waiter even spoke a little English. Definitely a higher end place with higher than average prices. The whole store looks very rustic and well put together and the waitstaff was very nice and accommodating. I got a latte (cafe con leche) and a chocolate croissant. Both were incredible! This is a nice spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city while still being relatively close to the city. The food in this place is spectacular ! I got a capuchino and was in heaven the moment I took the first sip. My friends and I got The omelette with spinach and Parmesan, a series of pastries (almond croissant was the highlight) and orange juice and spend the rest of the breakfast time talking non stop of how delicious the food was. The host Anna was very sweet and welcoming. If you are in Madrid and want to have the best non touristy breakfast, make sure to stop here. read more
