If you miss it, turn into Camino de la Familia (next turn onto another small road but more visible) - there is a paid lot there with access to the park. Both my dog and I enjoyed this park!

Some of the toddler area interactive objects are cute and fun, but altogether it seems like things have gone long forgotten here. Parking is one dollar an hour. All of the rope climbing stuff looks cool, but my kids are kind of young for that.

Leonora Curtin is the Santa Fe Botanical Garden's 35-acre natural wetland preserve. It is open on…read morethe weekends for tours May - October. The "hike" is easy (flat, but you are out in the sun) and the docents are very knowledgeable. They have a lot of literature available for you to view including very comprehensive guides to the plant life and birds you will spot. There is a bird watching station, and a very huggable tree! :) Free, but a $5 donation is requested. Reservations are typically not required, but there is a cost for groups of 20 or more and those require advance notice. Portapotties in the parking lot. Benches throughout the area, in the shade. Leisurely, relaxing, good for kids. (NO dogs allowed) This is quite a bit away from the Santa Fe Botanical Gardens up on Museum Hill in Santa Fe. (About a 15-minute drive south) Although all part of the Botanical Gardens, Leonora Curtin is a separate location with different hours and a shorter visitor season. The directions are easy enough, but it's difficult to locate on Google maps. (Typing in the physical address will get you nothing.) Take the La Cienega exit from the I-25. Turn north on W Frontage Rd. It's about a mile & 1/2 up Frontage Rd. Small dirt parking lot. (You'll either see other cars or the bright blue portapotty!)

Convenient and accessible!…read more En route to Bandelier National Monument, we stopped at White Rock Visitor Center, to take advantage of the shuttle service that you can get from here to Bandelier, especially because there's limited road access to the monument. The shuttle service runs about every 20 minutes, and gets you directly to the main visitor's entrance of Bandelier. Inside the visitors center is where you'll find tons of information of nearby attractions and sites, with brochures, maps, etc... The space was also very large, clean and dog-friendly. There's also a help desk at the center where staff are happy to speak with you for recommendations and assistance. You can also pay for your park fees here. I advise anyone who's on their way to Bandelier National Monument to stop by the White Rock Visitor Center for its shuttle service and getting tips and information on other nearby sites while in the area.

The three others in our class had a range of experience in previous shops. The beginner badge class gets access to a ton of tools in the shop, and we each made a coat/hat/key rack. So far I've enjoyed being able to drop by and get involved right away, for example I was able to get questions answered right away like where to buy materials locally. Once I said I was interested in volunteering Cia and I started working on getting kilns of all kinds going after I mentioned that I may want to do kiln-fired glass (sometimes there's stuff I want to fire but glass place won't let me put in 'foreign material'). I also got contact info from a glass artist if I wanted to take a group class on how to do stained glass since I haven't learned that skill yet. I enjoyed the woodshop tutorial/re-fresher led by Christy Georg who was funny and engaging. Am impressed that not only do they have a planer, jointer and a nice safe Sawstop, but they also have a fancy 'Shaper Origin' tool and (in the metalshop) a Dynatorch Super B 8'x10' CNC Plasma Cutter?!? I can't even dream of what I would do with that thing... Same goes with if I needed to lasercut something that is 38" x 100"... which I don't need to do but yeah... I guess that's possible to do that there... Booking was really straight forward after becoming a member, I could've reserved a spot for the woodshop for a whole four hours right after signing up (Which is impressive considering that right now due to CoVID, the space is limited to 2 people working in that space.)
