Since the last time is attended a class at the Santa Rosa Junior College Petaluma campus was about five years ago and I must say it's still well kept. Grounds are very clean, they have solar panels, large parking areas and check in stations. They even have heater's on the ceiling when walking under an awning. read more

I love SRJC Petaluma. I have had some fantastic professors and classes. It really feels like the school cares about the students and are listening to their needs and wants -- with everything from free drop-in tutoring to donuts in the library during midterms. Many of the buildings feel very new and nice. The library, for example, is beautiful and the view from the huge windows is so pretty. I look forward to coming to campus because of the classes and the people of course, but also because it is in a nice area, the facilities are great, and it doesn't feel crowded. read more

After being out of school for over 20 plus years I decided that the SRJC was the perfect place to start back since it was right down the road from my place and has a great reputation for giving people a boost back into the educational world. Now that I have had a semester I feel I can confidentally say that I choose well with chosing the SRJC. The teachers, counselors and staff are supportive and great at redirecting students. The Petaluma Campus is small and relatively easy to find everything. I look forward to my next semester. read more

I got my AA from here years ago, between 2002 and 2004 and transferred to SSU to get a BA. Let me tell you, after transferring I certainly missed the SRJC. I really missed the huge selection of teachers and class times, and the large awesome campus. The low prices certainly helped too. I had a lot of great teachers and classes at this school. Now years later I'm back trying to get into their Radiologic Technology program. There have been a lot of budget cuts and it can be quite difficult to get the class you want (or at least harder than it used to be) and the schedule you want. Even with raised prices though it's still really cheap by college standards. Still a great place to get your education. read more

SRJC in Petaluma is a decent school, but stay away from admissions and financial aid. No one is willing to help you! This is the only bad part to the school. They honestly just need new staff in there. Someone who actually wants to work and help students and be friendly. We have to travel to the Santa Rosa campus because they have people there that are willing to help. In Petaluma If they have to get up from their chairs get off their cell phones and come to the front window and help you, you'd swear you did something wrong. We've never left there getting anything accomplished. However, we head up to Santa Rosa, they listen and talk to us, and figure out what's wrong and its always fixed by the time we leave. I know it's just a small satellite campus and doesn't provide much more than classrooms to people who live too far from the main campus in Santa Rosa, but don't take it for granted. After 5 years now of CCSF and SFSU, a campus with clean well-kept bathrooms everywhere, classrooms with climate control and good ventilation, desks that don't look like they were salvaged from the Welcome Back Kotter set, and big rooms with plenty of elbow room for everyone seem like an amazing luxury to me. A lotta schools out there don't even have it half as good as the JC in general does right now. One major weakness is lack of food on campus but that's counterbalanced by being right next to a G&G and a bunch of different restaurants. Only downside is they pretty much expect you to have a car to get out here, the only bus service are spotty Sonoma County Transit and Petaluma Transit routes that don't run nearly often enough. read more

I was in a restroom stall for too long, and all of a sudden an employee called the police on me, ostensibly out of "concern", a boilerplate reason haters use to engineer harassment against our disadvantaged fellow Californians. Now, to his credit, the SRJC PD officer who responded was tremendous and friendly, treated me humanely and with respect. But the accusation that got him there was exaggerated and falsified. How? According to the BS allegation, I occupied the stall for "over an hour". I entered at 7:05pm. The officer entered at 7:45pm approximately. If you do the math, you don't end up with 60 minutes elapsed between when I came in, and when the officer responded to the grand crime of me occupying the disabled stall at a time when no one else demanded it. But it makes me look worse if they can make it seem like I was in there longer than actual. Bottom line: this form of harassment by proxy needs to end, full stop. I will start this massive offensive with this review on Yelp, and I will blast the few unsophisticated employees of this otherwise wonderful campus, who think it's acceptable to misrepresent, target, marginalize and savage an individual solely on the basis of their appearance and PERCEIVED socioeconomic status, versus treating them more appropriately and above all more humanely. I will not stop until we can effectively associate making a false call, or an exaggerated claim, with substantial penalties for tying up valuable resources in situations that don't justify such. If the rating were based just on the campus it would be a five. If it were based on course offering it would again be a five. Quality of the faculty...ESPECIALLY the adjunct faculty...again 5. Preparation to move on to a four-year school...5. Value...ARE YOU KIDDING!...5 x 5! The administration, however, deserves a rating of zero (I know...has to be at least a one). The President is a complete moron. He is clueless...has no idea about the real world. His mismanagement of the campus police child pornography evidence mishandling speaks volumes as to his inability as a leader. No leadership ability or common sense. The new members of the Board of Trustees are in the same category. SRJC is what it is because of the adjunct faculty and the old Board of Trustees who were able to make some major capital improvements in spite of the economy. read more

This place is like a second home to me. I have taken classes here since 2006. I would say that 95% of the instructors are truly amazing. Most all of them wish to see you succeed in their class. The staff is incredibly friendly both in student health services, administration, counseling, academic counseling, and student affairs. I have been part of two clubs there, the anime club, and the glee club, both which were very fun. I've been involved there in student government as the Vice President of the Petaluma campus. I have worked closely with the head of student affairs, and know a lot of staff and instructors there. It's a truly wonderful campus with so much to offer if you apply yourself.
