I'm taking a series of courses that are only available at the Petaluma campus. It's a certificate program for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. I started 2 weeks late as I didn't know the CCNA was available at the JC. The Petaluma campus admissions office rushed me through the enrollment and registration process. There was no wait as there is at the main campus. I started class the very next day. The parking was plentiful as it is a smaller campus than the main campus. I was at the main campus in Santa Rosa to see a counselor. After searching for a parking space for half an hour in the 5 story parking structure, I was told by a SRJC police officer my best chance was to park on Ridgway Avenue on the south side of Santa Rosa High School and walk 3/4 of a mile to the counselling office on Elliott. This is after I paid $55 for an on campus parking permit. The Petalauma classroom for the CCNA is spacious, modern, and set up egonomically with large monitors on swivel arms. The projection system is very bright even with the classroom lights on. Fortunately, even for a 4 hour long class, these amenities all make the experience an enjoyable class. Highly recommend the Petaluma campus if you have a choice in class offerings.

Hands down they all recommended SRJC. I started my first year at the Santa Rosa campus the Fall semester of 2011, as an older adult (with adult kids 22+) attending college for the first time. The campus grounds exceeded my expectation and looks like four year college. The resources (writing center, tutoring center) were very helpful. From 2012-2013, most my classes were at the Petaluma campus with a few classes up in Santa Rosa because of my choice of teachers. The Petaluma campus is smaller and easier to get around from one end of the campus to the other. Again, the writing center and tutoring center were outstanding. The tutors were helpful and patient. Just like anything else, students will connect with certain tutors depending on your learning style. I would spend an average of 90 hours a semester in the tutoring center. I'd do my homework, study for a test either by myself or a group of students with a tutor available when needed. The tutors got to know you and would always check in with you to see if you're prepared for a test or how you did. In my opinion, the Petaluma campus had more of a community feel. As a older adult the younger students were great to work with and I did not feel out of place. I noticed the Petaluma campus had more older students (30+) than Santa Rosa. I received my AA with highest honors and transferred to Sonoma State in Fall 2013. If it weren't for the writing and tutoring centers, I don't think I would have full comprehension of the subjects and a high GPA. I also made some great friends and met some awesome teachers. GO BEAR CUBS!!

From the moment I spoke with Sean, I knew I was in good hands. Sean is incredibly caring and present, a really good listener, and very knowledgeable. Both my daughters got assigned a tutor to help with their executive functioning challenges. Each tutor was matched perfectly and my daughters really enjoyed working with them. My youngest daughter had almost daily meetings and check-ins and her tutor went to great lengths to find ways to help with homework, often texting late in the evening or on the weekend to follow up and make sure my kid had turned in her assignments on time. She had a way to be firm yet kind and my kid, who generally resents getting help or being told what to do, completely accepted her suggestions and support. It is safe to say that my daughter would never have finished her freshman year if it wasn't for EF. My oldest daughter developed a beautiful relationship with her tutor who helped her not only with course content but with everything from researching gap year programs, enrolling in community college, to making a life budget and staying on top of various assignments and appointments. EF also helped us navigate the IEP process and gave great recommendations. I am incredibly grateful for the support and the quality work the whole EF team has done with our family over this last year. THANK YOU.

Our group of…read more7 had a fantastic time! it started with a presentation on the overview and history of this family farm, then a tour of the cheesemaking facilities and barn where the dairy and beef cows hang out. We met their farm dogs, took photos with the sweet cows, and saw the family working around the property. We then ended with a tasting of their products: cheese, curds, and kefir (all delicious!) Since it was a birthday party, my friend brought a picnic lunch which we enjoyed along with the cheese. We ended by choosing to buy a selection of the cheeses we liked, to take home and share. I was thrilled to find they sell at my local farmers market - I plan to buy more of the Herby Curds when I've run out of cheese next!

While they sell discounted tickets for kids 5-12 and kids under 5 are free, we and all the other families there found the tour to be a real struggle for our little ones. We all felt a little misled about the experience based on the online description. It's a lot of standing very still (in rooms with equipment that shouldn't be contaminated by guests, or next to equipment that has cow poop on it), listening to the owner talk for long stretches. We expected more movement around the farm and time outdoors, instead of something closer to a lecture with a large group in tight spaces. It also ran over time (to 2 hours!) ending with a nice close up visit with the cows and some small cheese samples. We did really enjoy meeting the cows and learning the details of how cheese making works. It is a real labor of love. I think there's a lot of potential here; the Achadinha tour has all the ingredients for an awesome visit but could use some editing. This tour could easily be 30 minutes, an hour tops. We would've liked to stay and buy some cheese but by 1pm we were all starving and fled to find lunch elsewhere. Other parents shared they would've had a great time there on a date, but definitely wouldn't go with small kids again. I'll also flag that they require you to step through a decontamination footbath to go inside the facilities. There were a lot of miserable people in sandals who had to get their feet wet in the chemicals. Closed toed shoes that can get wet recommended for this tour.
