    Cranberry margarita.
    Kym T.

We're from Texas, where there's a taqueria on almost every corner, so we rarely choose Mexican food while traveling--our local Tex-Mex is just that good. However, I made an exception on this trip because Santa Rosa Taqueria is a restaurant by Spike Mendelsohn, who competed on Top Chef many years ago. As a fan, I try to visit Top Chef-affiliated restaurants whenever possible. We ordered loaded shrimp nachos, an asada steak taco on a flour tortilla, and a diablo shrimp taco on a flour tortilla. We shared all three. I didn't particularly enjoy the shrimp, (it was fried) on the nachos, but everything else was delicious! Loved their green sauce and their red had a real kick. I tried one of their cranberry margaritas. O M Gee. That was the strongest margarita I have ever had. I don't really like to taste alcohol, so I only drank half and was a little tipsy when I left, but for more 'seasoned' drinkers, there's a lot of 'bang for your buck' in just one drink! I can't wait to return and sample more delicious food from the menu!

Awesome taqueria with bomb Mexican street corn on the cob, plus tacos with pork belly, chicken, pastor and fish, as well as refreshing aqua frescas such as pineapple mango. There are also two levels where you can dine, the to level has more tables and chairs. They also have alcoholic beverages like margaritas as well. Cool mural designs on the walls too. Service also prompt (you get one of those buzzers). Check it out!

I came here with a friend for dinner before seeing a show at the Folger Theater and we really enjoyed it! There's not a ton of indoor seating but the patio is nice and large. The happy hour drink special is 2 margs and chips and queso/salsa for 22 bucks which I think is a great deal. AND you can pick any marg including frozen! We both got the mango frozen marg which was so delicious. It was incredibly mango flavored and also really creamy and not icy like some frozen drinks can be. I tried the fish, al pastor, and barbacoa tacos. Really enjoyed the fish and the sauciness of the barbacoa! I wish the al pastor was a bit more tender but the roasted pineapple was a nice touch. I am not typically around Cap Hill but a great option if you're in the area!

This is a happening taqueria that hits all the comfort food vibes! Great location in the Eastern Market/Capitol Hill area. Place is perfect for groups, by yourself, or with a small group of friends. Seating is plentiful; outside dining, inside and loft dining options available. All ordering is done at the counter so no need for waiting to be seated or trying to look for your waiter.

Margarita Flight :-) pineapple is my favorite

Great birria and shrimp Diablo tacos! We also got a margarita flight that was quite delicious! Cute spot :-)

Good food hands down! They offer happy hour special which are a nice deal, especially for those happy hour needed days. They have outdoor seating but beware of the flies - not sure what they can do about that but it definitely takes away from the experience. Maybe add plants that deter bugs. The service is okay.

Really yummy shroom quesadilla! It came out quick and it was a bone to sit outside during happy hour.

My favorite lunch spot on the hill! You can't go wrong with any of the dishes here. And they have lovely outdoor seating. It's a popular spot so I recommend putting in an order ahead of time!

The chicken and cod tacos were delicious and full of flavor! Unfortunately, the spicy shrimp taco was way too salty, we couldn't even finish it. It overpowered the spice and made the dish hard to enjoy. On the upside, the drinks were solid. I really liked the skinny margarita--refreshing and well-made.

YUM! We came with our dog and got chips and queso, chicken quesadilla, & combo tacos (2 tacos w chips and salsa). We also got the margarita flight (which I guess you can choose the ones you want I didn't know this) & draft beers. It's a seat yourself order at the bar and collect when your buzzer goes off situation so you don't feel rushed if you're just lollygagging. Lots of street traffic if you care about that maybe sit inside. Patio is huge and is pet friendly.

We really enjoyed this Mexican spot, it exceeded all our expectations. We started off with a margarita flight, which was really delicious. They do have happy hour where you can get two margaritas and chips and salsa at a pretty great deal. I really loved my Al pastor tacos, they were so flavorful and I loved the pineapple chunks. It was one of the best meals we had in DC, highly recommend.

Burrito with Carne Asada and Chips & Salsa

Quick and easy counter service Mexican place. Definitely wouldn't call it authentic Mexican food but it was still pretty tasty. Burritos come with rice, beans, cheese, pico & sour cream and you pay extra to add protein. I had a decent amount of steak in mine but my boyfriend could've used some more pork belly in his. Chips were fresh but unsalted and the salsa didn't have much flavor. Lots of space upstairs, near the counter, and outside for seating and a great happy hour for drinks (no deals on food).

Grey looking steak a la Applebees, not much flavor overall in the dish... beans and rice were good! Shrimp fajitas were also very forgettable, shrimp were well cooked but lacked seasoning. The 'epic margarita' aka a coronarita was okay, margarita itself lacked brightness and was a bit too sweet.
