We've found a new favorite Mexican food restaurant! Both traditional and creative, this was some of the best food we've had. ALL the meat was cooked to perfection--we tried shrimp, steak, and chicken. Some of the best salsa and chipotle you'll eat! The ambiance is bright and welcoming, with beautiful decor and a clean environment. And the service was excellent! We snuck in just ten minutes before closing, yet they were so kind and made us feel welcome and like we weren't putting them out. The chef still prepared our food to perfection even though it was late in the evening. Prettiest salad--wow! It was all excellent quality. Effectively this was a 2.5. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient, so top marks for service. I'm not one to complain about complimentary chips and salsa, but man no flavor and no salt in either salsas nor on the chips! Bummer. The garlic shrimp were pretty solid, albeit a fairly small portion of 4 shrimps for 18 bucks. The lomo saltado really missed the mark. Grey looking steak a la Applebees, not much flavor overall in the dish... beans and rice were good! Shrimp fajitas were also very forgettable, shrimp were well cooked but lacked seasoning. After quite a bit of traveling between NYC and DC, I was excited to find a charming new spot to enjoy some Mexican-Peruvian fusion food. The restaurant is beautifully bright and very clean, and we were greeted with warm friendliness that made us feel right at home. Being Mexican myself, I recognized many of the dishes instantly. We tried a variety of plates including guacamole, chips, salsas, ceviches, and a shredded beef dish,each beautifully presented and with tender meat. While the flavors were promising, there's room for the chefs to refine the spices to really bring out the true taste. The corn tortillas weren't handmade and broke easily, but the quality of the proteins was excellent.The micheladas and margaritas were spot on, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I never knew that just like a fortune cookie you could get a surprise when you order a burrito. I'm referring to the scallops and shrimp burrito. I ditched the scallops and told my server that I couldn't have dairy. Nowhere on the menu for this dish does it mention that they use a cream sauce for the scallops, which then says if you order this dish as is, you get cream. Since I ditched the scallops, it showed up with chopped up bits of shrimp and loaded with cheese on the top. I hate to inform them that cheese is in the dairy category. And cheese btw is not mentioned under the item although they do list other ingredient info. The manager or whoever the person walking around helping out asked if I wanted a salsa Verde sauce instead of the cheese. I accepted the offer and the burrito showed up with it to be honest the way the burrito is mentioned my take was going to be not a big burrito but more like a small plate of street taco size. Getting a refill of my ice tea was a challenge and our party of four had the same problem. This is not a d for the life of me how someone could think this is great Mexican food is not backed with actual facts especially if you have been out of the state or area and been to other Mexican restaurants. A quick stop but a lasting impression on my belly. The inside is a vibe and very trendy. It a very cute place to stop by if you are in the area. The Al Pastor taco was the star of the show! The meat was tender and flavorful - and the green sauce took it to the moon! So good. I probably ate that taco in one bite. The Chicken Tinga taco was a little underwhelming to me, but not bad. I visited La Posada in Arlington for happy hour with a friend after coming across it on TikTok . We're both originally from Maryland but spent a few years away before relocating back to the DC/VA area so it was the perfect spot to catch up. The restaurant itself is surprisingly large, but it can be a little tricky to find since it's tucked inside a hotel. Once inside though, the bar area is spacious with plenty of high-top tables and bar seating - great for groups or a casual meetup. The happy hour menu has tons of drink and food options (and daily specials!), which already put it ahead of many places in the area. My friend ordered a margarita and I went with a tequila ginger. For food, we shared the Loco Fries, Dip Trio, Wings (mango habanero + honey chipotle), and the complimentary chips and salsa. Everything was really tasty, though the fries could've used a bit more meat and cheese. I wish I took more pictures, but we were too busy reconnecting and diving straight into the food as it came out! The service was wonderful from start to finish. I arrived first and was greeted and seated in the bar area right away. They offered me a drink while I waited and answered any questions I had. Throughout the evening, both the bartender and manager checked in on us consistently to make sure we were good, friendly without being overbearing. The prices were legit happy hour prices unlike a lot of restaurants that claim to have happy hour but barely discount anything. This place was fantastic! I sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and pleasurable to speak with. She made me a Fantastic cocktail called Cielito Rojo. I ordered the Short Rib dinner based on her recommendation. It was juicy, tender, and the flavors melded well together. What a great spot in Crystal City! My husband and I came here thinking it might be like any other Mexican place, but nope. Nothing frozen, everything tastes like it's made with love. The staff is super friendly and keep the chips and salsa coming. The place is spotless and has a nice polished vibe. We even saw a stack of bachelorette hats, so they're clearly ready for a party crowd. This was our second visit and we came for a late lunch. Fajitas came out sizzling and the duck guajillo was out of this world. Perfect place for family, a date, or just hanging out to catch a game on the TVs. The music is on point too. It is a little pricier--$11.95 for a house margarita--but worth it. Pacifico on tap was a fun surprise and they hooked us up with complimentary Mexican green tea shots. I really wanted to love La Posada because Crystal city is missing good food, but there were too many mistakes all around. Most of the food is decent, I wouldn't say any of it is really great, but I'm from Southern California, so my expectations might be slightly higher for Mexican food. We were quickly seated at a nice table and the restaurant was actually busier than expected. They came and took our order and we ordered apps and margaritas. Within 20 minutes we had guac and queso (both good, especially with Chorizo in the queso), another ten and we had our tuna tostada (not as good as you would hope), and we still didn't have our margaritas, despite me asking 3 times. Additionally we missed getting the spicy salsa I asked for 4 times until finally a manager came around and asked how we were doing. Service was frustrating to say the least. The food up to this point was not bad, but also not great, however for Crystal City, maybe some of the best! As we continued on the timing of dishes was just so lengthy, literally 30 more minutes until entrees arrived. Everything took forever. They did comp us some shots, which was nice, and the service was apologetic and kind. It would be hard to hate on this spot, but it's also hard to love it! I hope they can up their game a bit because it is a nice addition to Crystal City. read more

La Posada was really good. The spicy margaritas were fire and easily one of the best parts of the meal. They had a real kick to them but still tasted fresh and balanced. We also got the fresh guacamole with the tortilla chips and sauces, and that was a great start. Everything tasted fresh and the sauces were actually good, not just there for no reason. For my meal, I had the chicken dish with rice and corn, and that was probably my favorite part. The chicken was flavorful and tender, the sauce on it was really good, and the rice and corn on the side made the whole plate come together. Everything tasted fresh and came out hot. This was on our to visit list for when we were in the area. It's just a block or so from our hotel so extremely walkable. When you walk in, the place is super cute, full of color and I positively adore the lighting. We went later in the evening so it was quieter but still busy. We were immediately taken to a table and served right away. Upon receiving water, you are greeted with a bowl of chips and two different salsas- one a regular salsa and the other a black bean salsa. We ordered drinks- a pina colada (2) for me, and a Corona (2) for him. I ordered the stuffed poblano pepper while he ordered enchiladas. Both came with rice and refried beans. My poblano pepper (menu says: fire roasted poblano pepper filled with Oaxaca cheese, house sauce and choice of beef or chicken) had a bit of a kick but was full of cheese and chicken. (You could do beef, chicken or just cheese). It was so delicious and cheesy, and the chicken was shredded and mixed in. His enchiladas (menu says: two warm rolled tortillas filled with your choice of protein, served with rice, beans, sour cream, guac, and pico de gallo) were beautifully sauced and he devoured them (so I didn't get a chance to taste but obviously he was pretty happy with them). He did order the three enchilada combo, and requested carnitas, chicken and steak. My pina coladas were super fun (there were the small 12oz or the large which was 24oz), I got the small both times. A new Mexican place 10 minutes from the Crystal city metro stop. Service was great and they have a really cute vibe going on, with fresh flowers on every table. I got the chicken tacos and they were pretty good for chicken with double corn tortillas, the tomatillo salsa really made it. Their guacamole was also fantastic and you got a pretty big bowl of it, we kept ordering more! The margaritas were generous, whether you got the slushy or over ice versions. The experience began with one of the most memorable Old Fashioneds I've ever had, finished with apple wood smoke that added depth and drama before the first sip. It set the stage perfectly for what became an incredible dinner. I ordered the Argentinian Churrasco, and it instantly transported me back to long forgotten family dinners. The flavors were bold, balanced, and deeply comforting. Every bite felt intentional and authentic. We closed the evening with flan for dessert, which was the perfect final note. Smooth, rich, and just sweet enough, it brought the entire meal together like the last movement of a great performance. A special shoutout to our waiter, Jose. LaPosada was close to my hotel, so thought I'd give it a try. Very friendly staff, first of all. Every single person I interacted with was professional and pleasant. Was served chips with 2 salsa as I perused the menu; both salsa excellent but I preferred the warm darker smoky salsa. Next up, Ceviche de Chicharron.... I love pork belly when it's done right, and about 2/3 of the pieces were done correctly, the others not so much. Unfortunately, my main dish came less than 1 minute after the appetizer, so I pivoted to the Octopus aLa Parrilla. The flavors! So good! But again, 2/3 of the tentacles were done perfect, the rest couldn't be chewed. I'd go back and try a different dish next time to see if consistency is still an issue, but they got great marks for the taste. My bill, with 1 soda, was just shy of $58, so with tip it was $70, so plan accordingly. read more

The service was great, from the host to our waiter. I don't know if it's just that I'm used to Los Angeles Mexican food, but I didn't find the food very good. The rice tasted like it was from a box, the guac had an artificial taste too and the burrito was pretty small. Plus there was a small, sharp piece of plastic in my burrito. They replaced it and gave me a new one but I was pretty grossed out by it. I hope this place does well, but they definitely need to fix a few things, especially considering it wasn't cheap. read more
