The condition of the roadway was so poor that i had slipped and broken bones twice. He came 2 years ago and gave us an estimate, but it took us a while to raise the funds necessary for the new pavement. Meanwhile we had gotten estimates from competitors - some less than Gateway and some more. Some of these were only going to clean up the old roadway, put down tacking oil and then repave with 2 inches of asphalt. Gateway cleaned up, firmed up, added gravel and in general did a professional job of preparing the roadway before asphalting with 3 1/2 inches. They have all of the giant "tonka toys" needed to do an excellent job, plenty of workers, and lots of experience. Jeff responded to every request. And joy of joys, his estimate from 2020 was still valid!

What you'd miss is the meticulous prep work and explanation of the service, both of which are the fundamental elements of the pretty pictures. Our ancient asphalt was close to "SOS status." I was slipping and sliding on loose aggregate while maneuvering my 500+ pound motorcycle in and out of the garage. No good! Not to mention, it's hard to unsee the flora growing out the widening cracks! Again, no good! It's now a pleasure to both look at and drive over our spiffed up driveway.

One thing that really stood out is that they noticed our old driveway had the wrong slope and that the approach up to the front porch was too steep. They corrected the driveway so it now has a proper slope toward the road and added a new step for us -- at no additional cost. That was not something we asked for, but something they caught. Everything was done exactly on schedule and exactly at the agreed price. No surprises. They also worked smoothly with another contractor we had on site at the same time. Before they left, the cleanup was immaculate. Several of our neighbors noticed how nice the driveway was looking. We are very happy with this.
