We selected him and his team for our wedding in Tuscany in April 2018 and it couldn't have been more perfect. The process was amazing - Alessio gave us an incredible choice of food on the menus, and all were extremely gourmet options - not the standard mass-dinner selections you usually get for weddings. He let us mix and match to our taste. On the day, he and his team were excellent - they supplied not only amazing food and service, but also everything else you needed - chairs, tables, glassware, bar, apertivo - the whole thing from start to finish. His traditional cake show, where he made the wedding cake by hand in front of the guests was truly a wow moment, very memorable and great for pictures and to get the energy up after a dinner. His personality and professionalism shines through what he does, his prices are competitive and we are so happy we found him. We wouldn't have changed a thing. Thank you Alessio! AMAZING!!!! Would give this 10 stars if we could!!…read more My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Mirella and Stefano. It started with the both of them taking us on a tour of the Sant'Ambrogio food market, where they told us fascinating details about the market and vendors. This is where they picked up the ingredients for the menu we were to cook a bit later in the day. This market tour was a fascinating & entertaining way to start the experience! After the market, they drove us to their BEAUTIFUL home and gave us a tour of their home & lovely garden. This was such a thrill and further immersed us with Italian authenticity. We then got to cooking, during which my wife and I could not stop smiling. It started with two different forms of bruschetta, both of which turned out DELICIOUS. Then, we made handmade tagliatelle pasta with Tuscan ragu. WOW, just wow. The next thing we prepared for the menu was chicken cacciatore. Sooooo wonderful, tender, and flavorful. Finally, we prepared homemade tiramisu. It was every bit as tasty & amazing as it sounds! Throughout the food prepping and cooking, Mirella & Stefano gave us the perfect combination of talking us through it, assisting hands-on if needed, and informing us about the fascinating history behind each dish. The time passed so quickly, as we were having the time of our lives! When it came time to eat, Stefano served us each course. The food all came out INCREDIBLE and it was amongst the best meals we had throughout our entire week in Florence! Stefano & Mirella's kindness and courtesy made us feel like we were family. This was our first full day in Italy (our first experience in all of Europe, in fact!) and we can't stop talking about this experience. We get so welcomed & appreciated by Stefano and Mirella. We would highly recommend this experience to just about anybody, regardless of culinary interest. For all of the fascinating things you'll learn about Tuscan food & history, you'll also feel like you just had an amazing get-together with new friends! Thank you, Stefano & Mirella. The next time we make it out to Florence, we will absolutely sign up for another class. Oh, and one more thing: Mirella handed us a printout of our entire menu, with detailed instructions of how to prepare each item! We've already recreated the bruschetta with Tuscan bread, sausage & stracchino cheese - DELICIOUS!!! Grazie mille, James & Christa

La Via del Gelato - La Via del Gelato, unassuming and easy to miss, but don't drive through Siece without stopping here.

Siece is for sure a small town, but do NOT miss the gelato at this place IF you are traveling through. We visited many towns, including San Gimignano, and everyone claimed they had the best in the world, or close to it. But for us, La Via del Gelato was the clear winner and was the delightful conclusion to each night of our Tuscan holiday except one night when we were tempted by the gelato in Siena. While the Siennese gelato was nice, it didn't have the subtle 'pop' that some of the flavors from La Via del Gelato did. For starters, all of the product is made in-house, and best of all the shop-front and kitchen are only separated by a glass wall, so you can see the gelato being made. It's always clear when there's an ownership stake in a business, and this is one of those instances. Secondly, the flavors are fantastic, and on a daily basis they have the standard fare, from vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, hazelnut, almond, pistachio etc. There's more of course, but you get the picture. Third, on a daily basis they rotate of have about 5 to 7 new flavors. Each day there was something new to try. On one day in particular we tried the plum gelato which had been made with plums from the proprietors garden! On another day they had 'American Dream' which delighted by peanut butter loving son. Here's the bottom line for us ... it's made locally, ownership has a stake, the product is fresh and not full of artificial ingredients to prolong longevity. Furthermore, in many of the towns, it really is about shoveling the gelato into a cup of cone and getting you out of the store. Here, you can happily stand in store and taste and eat patiently and to your delight. Enjoy ... oh, and for non-native speakers, "Posso assaggiare ... (flavor of your choice)" will get you a taste of any of the flavors to aid in your decision.
