We wanted to try a new place and went to Santo Chilote for tacos. I got shrimp plancha (grilled) and smoked tuna on the waitress's recommendation. Both were good, but the shrimp was exceptional. My gf got the coconut shrimp and batter fried avocado, which were also recommended. I'd say the fried avocado is worth a try if you haven't had it. The coconut shrimp was just OK. The serve a variety of margaritas and have a decent beer selection, the basics really. Try Bohemia oscura if you like a refreshing dark beer. It's not a stout or anything like that, but very flavorful compared to the Mexican lagers. read more

After a long day of traveling from Chicago, I arrived very hungry. Being new to the area, I asked a few locals where they go to for very good seafood and more than one recommended this place. Well, the place is just the opposite of fancy. As a matter of fact, it's about as no frills as you can get. But how is the food? Well, when I arrived there were many local families eating here and many American surfers. When my fish tacos and shrimp cocktail arrived I fully understood just why this place is downright popular with the locals. The seafood was extremely fresh and delicious, as was the excellent margarita that was made from scratch. You just don't come to a place like this for the ambiance, but rather for the food! The quality was as good or better as in any restaurant anywhere. I was shortly about to discover that people on the Baja peninsula are blessed with an abundance of excellent seafood from both the Pacific side and the Sea of Cortes side. Fantastic fish tacos. The food is simple, and phenomenal. Shhhhh- don't be telling all the gringos in Cabo. Had the fish tacos a la plancha with flour tortillas- first bite I was in heaven and subsequently ordered more and led to my return the next day. Also had the fish tacos-deep fried- not overly fried and really good. Had the coconut shrimp tacos, good flavor- the deep frying was a bit much for me with the hard crust but enjoyed it. Our first day in Todos Santos, we went to Santo Chilote on the recommendation of our host. We were tired from traveling, and walked the short distance to the restaurant. Oh boy, are we glad we did. We had the fish tacos a la plancha (grilled). The fish itself was excellent, and the toppings available are crazy good: pickled onions, mango and habanero sauces, a cabbage preparation second to none, a mango salsa, the list goes on. It was such a great beginning to our 5 days here. In addition, the limonada is perfect, with a great citrus tang and rich lemon-lime flavor. The folks really get food. Run, do not walk. We came across this spot as we were leaving Todos Santos. It's a taco hut style joint. I ordered a michelada which was DELICIOUS. The lemonade with seltzer water was bomb! "Limonada preparada" The Salazar were yummy and spicy: pineapple and habanero, mango and habanero and a pico pineapple, onion and habanero style salsa. (Stealing these for my taco business) the food: The Coctel Mix is all shrimp broth with a splash of Clamato, it's packed with shrimp and octopus. Very tasty and filling. They make the best Fried Avocado taco and Coconut Shrimp Tacos. They have lots of good toppings that you choose yourself. Also the best Limonada in town. There is a nice breeze right there and a beautiful fountain. The owner pays attention to his establishment so it just keeps getting better. read more

We were excited to try Santo Chilote, however, it was a huge let down. The food was mediocre and the service was terrible. All the servers were seemingly unhappy and if you didn't speak Spanish, you were treated accordingly. Good luck on understanding the menu if you cannot understand Spanish. We waited forever for very basic food. We then had to wait for 20 minutes to get the bill and finally had to go to the counter and ask to pay. What's funny is we tried the night before and they closed abruptly and were borderline rude. We should have picked up on the vibe. Bottom line- there are plenty of great restaurants in Todos Santos and this is not one of them. read more

I can't say enough good about this Incredible seafood restaurant for the unassuming! The beer battered fish tacos were amazing! And the coconut battered shrimp?! What?! So crispy crunchy delicious unbelievably mind-blowingly good! Toppings and garnishes galore to level up your tastebuds. And the molcajete guac?! Holy guacamole!! The chips were freshly prepared and oh so decadently crispy with the creamy guacamole. The presentation was that of a guacamole blossom! Perhaps the best Taqueria I have ever visited! Great ambience! Outdoor sitting next to a huge fountain in a quiet corner of town. A real oasis. I had Fresh seafood tacos. My favorites were the grilled shrimp and the smoked fish tacos. There's salsa bar is amazing... Perhaps a dozen or more sauces and other condiments to choose from. Wonderful and thoughtful service.
