Santos is AMAZING! He rebuilt my 1,200 foot deck in a way that was so professional and so staggeringly gorgeous. I wanted to preserve the original design but he found so many subtle ways to honor that vision while improving it enormously, adding a beautiful border and arranging all the boards so there would be no seams. He is incredibly creative and artistic in addition to being rock solid on structural fundamentals. He also has enormous integrity, character, and honesty. Every day I look at his work with incredible gratitude that our paths crossed. He also built a gorgeous redwood fence in a neighbor situation that was unpleasant and contentious and he told me that another side fence had 10 years left in it and didn't need to be replaced -- he built a PT base instead where the redwood had rotted. I had a tricky problem with my driveway--the angle was so steep that the middle of my car would scrape every time I went in or out. Santos came up with a smart solution and did an excellent job regrading the area. What really impressed me was his idea to first pour two simple "test strips" of concrete at the new angle so we could check for clearance before committing to the full job. It was such a thoughtful approach that gave me confidence the final result would be right. Santos was great. He was responsive and a good communicator. The backyard project had a couple of pivots. He always listened to my concerns and gave great input. Because of that the project turned out great. He fixed a retaining wall, put in an iron fence, repaired a staircase that winds through oak trees, added a new deck, and a paver patio. Santos is a Saint! We interviewed at least 7 landscape contractors and once we met Santos we knew he was the one. We went over the project scope and he texted me one number for the total project. I had never seen this before and was expecting an itemized estimate. So he came back, we went through the scope again, got clear on what was included in the number and what wasn't. It was a very fair amount for the scope of the work and he got my vision down to the detail. He also had a can-do attitude and was easy to problem solve with on the areas we were unclear on. The work we had done included: some tricky grading and water run-off issues including a French Drain, installation of artificial turf, a stone patio and walkway, Cumaru deck, steps and retaining wall, framing out aluminum privacy panels with Cumaru, Redwood fence and two pergolas, flagstone walkway, irrigation, planting plants, and bringing in topsoil and mulch. He delivered on everything we agreed to and went above and beyond! Anyone who has been through a project like this knows that stuff comes up, things you want to add, things you didn't think about before, and all the extra details. Santos was a dream to work through these things with. He was very upfront and fair on on these "change orders" which gave us total flexibility and control over the project. Santos is more trustworthy than anyone I know and he really cares about delivering something that you will love. His staff are reliable, extremely hard working, and highly skilled. My project was removing a badly constructed deck and replacing it with flagstone to continue to existing patio. Not only was his quote very competitive but the entire experience from start to finish was easy, professional, and reliable. Although the quote process was very informal (all by text, nothing in writing), Santos delivered everything he said he would for the price quoted. His team was highly professional, tidy, reliable and punctual. I had them remove our small grass yard out back and lay a concrete slab on which they installed porcelain tile with a wood look. They were extremely fast and efficient removing the grass. The process of laying the concrete and then installing the tile (done painstakingly by Jose, one of Santos' crew) was meticulous--carefully measured, graded, measured again. Extremely high quality workmanship! Santos and his crew were a pleasure to work with, and left the back yard tidy each day.
