So we were thrilled to find the little grocery store across the street from where we were staying had some decent options. We bought three kinds of cheese; 2 from Quebec and one from Ontario, a port and fig sausage from Quebec and a Quebec red wine along with some local strawberries. We bought a baguette from the bakery across the street and were set! It's not a huge store so choices aren't extensive, but some nice options.

Epic SAQ boozerie up Quebec-way…read more This shop was massive and had it all! It's ironic you have to come to a booze store, in Canada, to find out how a north-of-the border shop is run well. This place had every spirit known to man: whiskey, champagne, bourbon, rum, cider, beer, wine, sparklers, cans, bottles, sake, mixers. Like the inquisitive Rebel Chef that I am; I spent a half hour swilling and taste testing and comparing French and Canadian wines that the staff had prepared. Glass after glass. I still favor French wines. Drank cups-full of some Canadian apple cider, wine, rosee, maple booze and rye.. They had good deals on champagne and on beer; not so much on whiskey (as that stuff is imported, and about to hopefully increase 100% in price real soon!). Enjoy no sales, Canada. I had to google map it. Opposite of La Malbaie- Baoe St Paul area in Charlevoix it looks like an amazing place to visit. They have an bountiful selection of their ciders present that ranges from the regular apple to blueberry and what I came for was the Plum and Pear ciders. They do offer a light tasting and man...it's unbelievable. You see when I first came to Quebec I was on a huge apple cider kick that I went bananas for the first year I was here. Now...... I only care for the ice cider as it's much more concentrated. The other stuff I don't care for at all now. The Plum cider called Dame Prune is amazing (very light 6.5%)! So amazing I bought four bottles this trip plus two of the pear. They sell for $18 a bottle or 3 for $45. So (being the thrifty Manitoban) I went for the bulk discount. They also have apple butter (which I was told to buy because it was deemed amazing) plus many other jellies and jams. The apple butter. I think okay but I'm not a huge jams and jellies person in the morning. My wife really likes it though! The products here are simply awesome and make a great Quebec gift if you are from out of town. I will definitely be back for more cider!

I recently visited canada and while taking a tour i stumbled onto this little place selling wine. I…read moream not a big wine drinker but the gentleman behind the counter encouraged me to try some and boy i am so glad i did. I sampled the pear the maple and the apple cider flavors. We don't have anything in richmond va that taste this mellow with just the right amount of sweetness. I wish i could order it. Everyone there was so nice that before the tour ended i went back and brought more. I even got my picture taken with the owner. I highly recommend their wine and the prices were great.

I saw this booth at the Gluten Free Expo. Aren't most vinegar based dressing gluten free to begin…read morewith? Is this a case of annoying labeling for something that is supposed to be obvious? I thought the same thing as well when I entered this booth, however, the scary truth is, especially with commercially prepared dressings is that they use flour as a cheap thickener. You learn something new every day. Their dressings are thickened the gluten free way which is appreciated. It was cool that I walked away from the expo actually leaning something. The lady at the booth was super friendly and took the time to educate those who stopped by. I did fall in love with a dressing, however, there was no product for sale. There are stores in Vancouver that do carry this product.

Euh! Where was this little jewel hidden?…read more An amazing hotel / winery where modern chic is just perfectly balanced with zen and the natural surroundings. I can't stop taking pxs and being inspired for minimalist living. Our room is big enough that my mother was able to circulate freely with her wheelchair... and this is not even one of their official wheelchair bedrooms! And the help and care of the employees... 5 stars! I am in love and just want to move in! Ps: there seems to be mini country houses you can not only rent but purchase on the property. --- Ok, came back and took one star off just for the resto. Fabulous but with this kind of pricing, you would expect some adjustments when needed for dietary needs... I had to go with the siders and create a plate for myself, as they wouldn't turn their Surf & Turf into a Surf & Surf...and beware vegetarians, their tofu salad is 30$ Also the heather in the room is one of these noisy ones that stops and goes every 5 minutes so not much sleep the first night :(
