My twins were in the NICU longer than we anticipated and Sara was very understanding and as we got closer to discharge she penciled us in for our shoot. Sara is very talented and amazing at what she does! We went to her studio for a newborn/family session when I was 2 weeks postpartum, and she made me feel relaxed and comfortable. She welcomed my mom, MIL, and niece into the studio to watch. She was also very patient with my baby whenever she woke up, was hungry, and when she peed during the photos! I was amazed at how patient she is; she makes sure she gets the perfect shot every time, even if it takes a while. Sara is the best! Karissa, too! Her studio is spacious and clean! And then you enter the newborn room and it is sooo organized. All the wraps and head gear for babies hung in color unison. It was a Pinterest board dream in real life. My baby slept a little too good the night before so it took some time for her sleep for the photos. But Sara was so good, patient and professional. She fed, undressed, wrapped the baby, put the baby to sleep, posed the baby, and then she took the photos. Between set changes, Karissa would get the background ready and Sara would change the baby, put the baby back to sleep because of course, my baby would wake up. So much goes into the newborn sessions but Sara and Karissa make the process look so easy, they work seamlessly well together. I mean we, as parents, just sat and watched the magic unfold. Time honestly got away from me before our session that I didn't choose any particular set or color theme (only filled out the questionnaire) so everything was chosen for me but I was open to whatever we were gonna get. From the second you get in contact with her until you get your final photos. When you confirm your appointment, she emails out contracts that explicitly lay out everything you are agreeing to by going into business with her. Everything is done electronically and it's obvious she has worked with a lawyer to make sure there are no questions unanswered. The same thing goes for all payments-- you get an invoice when it's due, and a receipt immediately when you pay. Reason #2) she's frickin' good!! Just take a second to look at her portfolio. Her talents just ooze off the page. I was honestly on the fence about whether I even wanted to do newborn photos (we never did with my first child), but after looking at her work, I knew I wouldn't be able to turn back. There such a beauty, care and sweetness with every photo she takes. And she custom creates her sets! I rarely saw the same one repeated. I did a lot of research and newborn photos are rightfully expensive. The photographers have to be so careful and move so slowly throughout the whole shoot. Sara's prices were the best I found, ESPECIALLY now that I experienced everything that comes with it. In my package, she was offering a free photo session at 6 months old which includes her siblings and us parents. So we basically got two sessions for the price of one. I can't wait for the second one done in about 5 months! #5) she goes above and beyond her call of duty without hesitation. Another thing Sara sends you is a form to fill out with your preferences for the shoot. So you can pick colors, themes, and can provide her with more insight about what you want for your photos. This is where she prepares the custom baskets and backgrounds for your specific wants and needs. So she definitely takes your input into account when planning your shoot. She also spent almost an extra hour than we paid for because my daughter was fussy right at the end. Sara is the most patient, kind, and genuine photographer we have ever worked with. We always book her mini sessions throughout the year for our son and then also a birthday milestone session for his birthday. He is now 2.5 and we have been working with her since he was 6 months old. Her sets are always perfectly decorated, super creative and more elaborate than most other photographers. Our son is autistic and sometimes can be difficult to work with as he doesn't like to sit still, doesn't like bright lights, and sometimes has meltdowns. When my son was born earlier this year, we did not have to think twice about going back to her again (even though she's more than an hour away!) I can't say enough good things about Sara and her sister! They took wonderful photos of my family, including our first born son. I was only 10 days pp and not looking forward to leaving the house as I was in a lot of pain and still learning mom life, including how to breastfeed etc. The good news is... they are both baby whisperers and were able to take timeless photos while keeping our boy sound asleep and even changing his diaper!
