Sarah did the hair and makeup for my wedding in May and did an amazing job. She was recommended by another artist I contacted but I am extremely glad that we wound up with someone as nice and as talented as Sarah Dean. She was easy to work with over email (and at my trial too) as we discussed my ideas and needs for the wedding since I had to accommodate a headdress at some point in the evening and the windiness at my outdoor wedding site. I requested a slightly 1940s style strong lip, defined brows, and a softer eye. Sarah arrived on schedule the morning of the wedding and handled myself and my four bridesmaids on her own (if you have more than five she would arrange a second MUA/stylist) and finished with plenty of time to spare for photos. My bridesmaids all had distinct hairstyles and makeup looks that suited them. They all loved talking to Sarah while they were worked on that morning. We all looked amazing! Even in close up our skin looked great and not mask-like/caked in product, Sarah does good work with foundation and giving you amazing skin (on a range of skintones) and we all loved the way she filled in our brows (different shapes and thicknesses, not cookie-cutter instagram style brows). I don't wear much makeup on a regular basis (had never worn fake eyelashes before!) and Sarah expertly did my makeup for my wedding in a way that I looked and felt fantastic but also felt like myself. I knew when I first met her at my makeup trial that I would definitely hire her, because she was really helpful at explaining what she was doing and talking through different options, and she perfectly incorporated the feedback I gave after the trial. She also never made me feel uncomfortable about asking for what I wanted, and never tried to pressure me into wearing more or different makeup than I wanted (which another makeup artist did). I had an extremely complicated and kind of crazy wedding day, with three different outfits, with three different hair and makeup looks to go along with them, executed in three different locations!! Sarah was exactly on time to each location, and was totally chill about having to pack-up and re-set up three times. She also helped me get into my various looks and was totally willing to do whatever to make me calm, comfortable, and happy while getting ready! She was such a positive presence to have around throughout the day, and I felt reassured knowing she was making me look my best self! And she managed to get the three looks done under time constraints, and made everything work perfectly so we were never running late. I haven't gotten the professional photos back yet, but I already feel like a queen just seeing how I look in people's cellphone photos. Sarah is extraordinary! She has done my makeup for a boudoir shoot, engagement photos, and my wedding. She completely blew my mind every time. At my wedding, she made my mom look like a movie star. My mom never wore makeup a day in her life and now she wears it every day because of how great she felt when Sarah put makeup on her. Sarah knows exactly what will look good, but she also loves to hear your ideas and somehow intuitively knows exactly what you want. I had the pleasure of sitting in Sarah's make up chair (she travels with her own) for my dear friend's wedding. As a bridesmaid, our bride let us pick our own hairstyle and make up and treated us to makeup and hair styling services by the glam squad duo of Sarah and Jaime. Sarah is a preferred vendor for the Claremont. She was right on time with all her equipment. I was the first one in the chair. She asked me what my normal make up routine was, and then discussed what type of look we wanted. Once she could tell I was pretty comfortable with make up she worked her magic. She did a wonderful full coverage foundation which felt and looked really natural. The color matched perfectly and did not feel at all cakey. I wanted a neutral eye with winged liner and lashes. She really took her time to ensure my face was contoured. My first thought (before the mirror peek) was omigosh I am going to look too made up...but when she handed me the mirror... Whoa! My round face had angled cheeks and my eyes were gorgeous (if I do say so myself). Sarah works magic with that eyelash glue... You don't even feel it! I was very happy with how my look turned out. For other members of our party who were not as comfortable with make up (Sarah was really attuned to this) she went really light and worked with each one to get the look they were happy with.
