If you are in need of truly impeccable alterations look no further. I tried on a "buy as is" sample of my dress at the boutique outlet, Glamour Closet. Later that day, I ended up finding the dress brand new online and ordering it. The sizing was a bit off and it ended up being just a tad too hard to zip in the back.*insert meltdown here* I reached out to Sarah with a picture and explanation to see what she could do. At our first meeting I made my wants and needs very clear, and she was so helpful by offering solutions that I hadn't even thought of. After ordering, I knew that I would likely have a shorter turn around time than the 12 weeks that is typically suggested, so I reached out to Sarah in advance. She said she would reserve the time for me, and gave me a very reasonable quote for the alterations I thought I would need. When the dress finally did arrive, I was super unimpressed. The dress I ordered was sized up, and the bridal salon said I probably wouldn't need any alterations other than shortening the length. I had lost 20 lbs between ordering and receiving, and it felt like a nightgown. Enter Sarah - I brought the dress to her and she immediately started pinning in all the alterations she would make. Beyond shortening the dress and removing the train, she took in the hips and waist, brought up the all-lace shoulders and added cups. When I went back for the first fitting, I was amazed! The dress fit perfectly, and was super flattering. After another week I became a bit self-conscious that the thigh area was too snug. A little less than two months before my wedding, I realized that I wouldn't just be able to make my dress work, I actually needed to get it altered. It was too long and the top was just a little more snug than I was hoping for. Considering that everything I read online said that wedding dress alterations take a million years, all of the alterations people are booked years in advance, and that it would all cost me probably as much as my dress, I seriously contemplated taking it to my local dry cleaner and hoping for the best.
