This is strictly about the customer service I received from Shay, the short older lady serving the line. I asked for my pork chop to be cooked fresh when I placed my order. I did not want the pork chops that were already sitting there. Instead of honoring that request, she served me the same pork chops I specifically said I didn't want -- and then wanted to debate with me about when they were cooked. Ma'am... why are we debating? I asked for my pork chops to be dropped upon request. This wasn't unreasonable -- I've asked for it before with no issue. Customer service matters just as much as the food. read more

My apologies for the picture. Was at an angle opening the bag to take the picture. Pros: easy online ordering and getting the food once I got there. Catfish was decent and collards were good. Cons: I am very picky with mac and cheese and this wasn't it. Honestly a lot of places fall short, including this one. The yams were just that, yams. They should take the part "candied" out. It was sweet potato cooked with a little cinnamon. Not happy I paid for a side of that. And lastly the cornbread could have been left at the door. Not only was it dry, but not sweet. Very much enjoyed my meal and experience. Yes the clientele was somewhat older, me included lol, but overall was a great experience. The line team was very pleasant and straight forward with their opinions on the items available the day I dropped in & everything was delicious. I was so hopeful! The ladies on the live plating orders had supreme customer service, and even the gentleman ringing up the orders did too. However, the fried chicken was subpar at best based on flavor....Popeyes', Publix's, heck even Kroger's fried chicken is better. Ambiance is a good lil place . It's always a line , not too much spacing to sit inside & the parking lot is very little spaces. I love Sarah's and have been coming here for years and years and years! Every single year I order for Thanksgiving and for our Family Reunion. The Banana Pudding is the best HOMEMADE with meringue you have ever eaten in your life! That wonderful lunch of real fried pork chops that we are usually a 'no-no' food for most of us, is a must have when you get a chance to go there. Oh those fresh butterbeans are nice and fresh and plump! Love the atmosphere in there because I am a talker and they always like to talk to their customers. In the past five - ten years, I've slowly become addicted to pies, just fruit pies. I always try to find a good place if I'm in other parts of Atlanta because the south side lacks a variety of businesses. I found out today that this south side restaurant has the best Peach Cobbler I've ever had. Yes it's a cafeteria style restaurant, yes rotating menu so no peach cobbler everyday but they have cake and apple pie as well. I can't wait to try their other desserts. Fried chicken is daily and my friend said it was good. I thought the cornbread was dry at first, but couldn't stop eating it, so I thinks it's pretty good. Clean place, super nice staff. I would rave about the salmon cakes and the hushpuppies. I could wax poetic about the cornbread and the fried chicken. But... I will instead extoll the Southern Charm inherent at Sarah's. This is a place where folks of a gentle nature get together to enjoy some fantastic cooking. Black folks and white folks (and even us brown folks) get together to eat, say hi to each other, and take a moment of delicious respite among what's otherwise just another busy day. Folks who know what sweet tea is supposed to taste like. Folks who know the magic that is good collard greens. Plus, staff does take good care of everyone who walks through the door. After my employer opened a new location in Stockbridge, I decided on Tuesdays (free meal day) to try every restaurant within the area. This by far has to be the most disappointing of the restaurants in this area. Like other reviewers have stated the lines are long and full of an older clientele. Some of the patrons are local and everyone seems to be cool. The employees are sweet and they have the ability to serve you while doing a million other task. Employee wise 4 stars. The only thing I did not like was they seemed unsure of what vegetables were and were not made with a meat base. The guy I spoke to sounded pretty confident but also he had his reservations. Essentially I received black eyed peas, mac and cheese, candied yams, broccoli and cheese and for desert, I received sweet potato pie and banana pudding in which my friend and I split deserts. Listen, this food was so nasty that midway, I just threw it all away. Black Eyed Peas- Weren't bad, just bland with no flavor. Runny as well. Candied Yams- Jeezzussss, this was bottom of the barrel bad. Some potatoes were hard others were soft. Its almost like whoever made them inst sure of how to make candied yams. A lot of nutmeg was added but once again it was bland and left a weird after taste. Mac and Cheese- Do not touch it. This was probably the worst. There was not enough cheese, nor any flavor. Just do yourself a favor and skip out on this after 1pm. Casserole- Nope, no. no way, uh uh, I will take a no. Not enough cheese, not enough flavor, not enough goodness, not enough time to waste complaining about it. Sweet potato pie, was made fresh, sweet potatoe chucks were in the pie. Wasn't that bad but once again this is far from good. Banana Pudding...Noooooooooooooo Ma'am. She definitely threw it away. Once spooon and it was over. Final thoughts: Strong no for me. Food isnt cooked properly and it doesnt taste well either. 12+ was fine until we started eating then we realized how much the reviews made sense. You get what you pay for and it could've. should've been better but shrugs. I am not saying this to deter anyone from going but definitely check it out and make your own judgment call. They probably should reevaluate the menu and have a sides tasting test. I dont believe they are aware to how it taste or I couldve had a bad batch... shrugs, I will never know. Anywho try it out. I rarely get a chance to eat here since they are only open for lunch Mon-Fri. The food set up is cafeteria style with a meat and two sides. Their fried catfish is so tasty! I love coming on Fridays just for some catfish and collard greens. The meats and veggies with change slightly depending on the day. Everything is homemade, nothing comes from a can. The cakes are delicious, today I took advance of the Key Lime Cake. The staff is kind and give generous portions. Th macaroni and cheese could be better. It tastes odd to me, maybe it needs salt, maybe it's cheese, I don't know, but everything else is very tasty. The prices are reasonable too. Ate here yesterday with a friend and like another reviewer I would always see this place while at Starbucks... food is ok if slightly bland. It's tray type ala cafeteria style place. I believe they are over priced. I had a meat ( fried pork chops) and three vegetables w/ tea @ $12.50! What I didn't like was unclear pricing until you get to the register... I travel all over Georgia working and this is by far the highest priced "meat and 3" I've ever been to. Would have liked to try the cobbler, but was sticker shocked and decided not to add another $3 bucks to the bill. A don't want to hear about "pay more for good food" because I know about 15 other "meat and 3's" or country cooking places to do all that and deserts for under $10 that are just as, if not better than Sarah's read more
