She cares so much about her clients and does a great job understanding what mom wants for their birth and helps them get there! Christine is very hands-off which may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for us it was exactly what we were looking for. I saw Christine for all of my prenatal care, we had the usual visit every four weeks and then as we got closer to the due date every two weeks and then every week. Visits were usually at her home office, certain visits were at my home (1st visit, 36week visit...) and if we had a scheduling issue it usually ended up with her coming to my home. The visits were short, which was fine for us. Christine always included our toddler in the visits for as much as she wanted to be included (letting her listen to baby's heartbeat or take mamas blood pressure). Christine did often run late, which was okay for us but I know that could be an issue for some.

Low Risk Pregnancy? Chemical or Fungal sensitivities? Looking for a place that will listen and not…read morejust ignore you about MTHFR? I transferred into Birthways at 32 weeks after my original OB would ignore me about my genetic condition and insisted that I take something that has been shown to activate immune issues in people with genetic dispositions...Birthways not only took me in but supported my decisions, researched for themselves what my condition was, and went far beyond and above what I expected after my experience with the OB. When going to Birthways, you will generally spend significantly less money on your birth (especially since you're not automatically going to a hospital for birth,) and you will get so many perks including an information book on prenatal and postnatal time frames AND information for the other parent and support team, group meetings to meet other mothers and talk about what worries you all have, and Child Birth Education Classes (something you have to pay for when with the hospital, usually.) There's a library you can borrow from that includes books AND dvd's, and generally, they're much more open than any facility I've ever been to (I arrived early one day without thinking about it. They weren't bothered by it in the least, and, in fact, invited me to stay if I wanted to instead of driving all the way back home.) There's also beach days! If you like going to the beach, you can have a day where you go to the beach with other pregnant mama's and get checked out (blood pressure, baby's heart rate, and fundus size) without being in the...it's actually a bedroom, not an exam room...So you feel right at home there, too. During the labor, the team was beyond supportive and helpful. Michaela, Lisa and Emily made sure I had everything I needed, and helped ensure that I didn't give up or give in. I highly recommend Birthways to everyone!

My overall experience at Birthways left me feeling neglected and abandoned in the process…read more This was my first pregnancy and prenatal care was okay. There really wasn't any education on the actual laboring process which left me pretty unprepared. leading up to my birth I started to feel anxious as I had connected with some midwife's and not others and when it's time for labor you get whatever random midwife is on call. A week before I was due they rushed for me to meet a midwife who was visiting town. Overall I had the feeling that they were very understaffed and had tons of clients. I had specifically asked the owner "what happens if you have to go to the hospital?" The answer was clear - we come with you to make sure your checked in but we don't stay the whole time , the student chimed in that she likes to stay for the whole birth because she gets invested in the moms. Well, the day that my water broke, the amniotic fluid had meconium. I called the midwife on-call who was the midwife I only met once previously. She told me the baby was in distress without any explanation or information and to go straight to the hospital, she would not come with me. There was some guidance on where to park and then that was it. I didn't hear from her again until a text 24 hours later asking how it was going. And then never heard from her again. Done. My labor was difficult at the hospital with nurses pushing all various medication, wanting to rush the process. It was the hospital nightmare that I was always avoiding. After pitocin was pushed on me I still labored for 30 hours, barely dodged a c section, my baby landed in niccu for 3 days, and I had been completely paralyzed in one leg and in a wheelchair from an epidural injury that took months before walking normally again, It was scary. I never heard from Birthways again until 3 weeks later they called telling me I should come in for my postpartum checkup. This was never communicated to me during the entire prenatal care that there would be postpartum check ups. I thought they had finished their services with me. I was desperate for an assessment of my situation and to check on my stitches(from tearing). They called to cancel the appointment I was needing, and luckily I got a spot because someone canceled. I arrived using a walker and couldn't even hold my baby. The woman who would've been my midwife was shocked and asked what happened to me. There was some sympathy but afterwards she never informed the owner of my situation nor did anyone ever bother to check about my hospital birth records. When I came in for the second check up weeks later, the owner was surprised to hear my birth story and injuries. There is an obvious lack of communication between everyone. Finally they emailed the hospital to get my birth report. Of course, you sign paperwork that you will never be able to get a refund even if you don't birth there and they do nothing, they will keep your money. During one of the most vulnerable processes of my life, I felt completely neglected by this business. And that's the vibe you get that it's a business, a place to make money. Choosing Birthways was a mistake and i'm not the only one traumatized by this, my mother was confused about what kind of care they were supposed to offer, and my husband felt like it was a waste of thousands of dollars, feeling that the service offered was nowhere near worth what we paid. While I was pregnant, I deposited $250 for nitrous. If you don't make an early deposit and decide that you underestimated and need nitrous while giving birth, the price jumps to $500. That just shows the intentions of Birthways and how it takes advantage. Because I never gave birth at Birthways or used nitrous I was expecting to have my money back. This was not an easy process, taking seven months before I finally saw it back and I had to call every couple weeks, text, email. The communication is totally off with this business as is their billing practices. In all, I would not recommend Birthways unless you know your going to have an easy birth that requires little attention and care. It may be the only center in town, but not the only option.

I started calling home birth midwives for doula referrals, and I was so lucky to connect with Charlie. She truly brought a piece of the home birth experience into the hospital room. Charlie was a fierce advocate, not only for me, but also an incredible source of support for my husband. She brought a sense of peace and calm to what felt like a very unknown and overwhelming situation. I felt completely safe with her by my side. Charlie helped us talk through every decision, making sure we felt informed and confident in our choices. Her support didn't end after the birth either, she consistently checked in postpartum and continued to care for our whole family. I truly can't recommend Charlie enough. She is an amazing, steady, and calming presence. Whether you're planning a home birth or just looking for strong, compassionate birth support, you are in the very best hands with Charlie. Her care extends beyond just mom, she supports the entire family.

I informed them I would be transferring care at 32 weeks. I told the owner that I would pay for any prenatal appointments I went to, but she made a bill with fees I was not aware of. My invoice was the exact amount I prepaid which is very suspicious. The invoice even said my $500 deposit was a charge for some reason instead of applied to my balance like the contract states. The invoice seemed to be made in a rush and its purpose to zero out my account so they could keep my money. I will add my entire experience after court. In the meantime, if you choose this midwifery, ask them to outline their fees and what you owe after every appointment to avoid this. Overall disappointed with Charlie's (owner) handling of this issue.

She's training a student Midwife Nicole who is exceptional and several doulas right now. When I got pregnant with our second I knew I wanted to have a natural birth with a midwife and was lucky enough to come across FBC. They do fill up quickly because they can only take so many patients at one time. They have two birth suites that are very calming with a giant tub, bed, and any labor tool you would need to get through a natural birth. They even offer Nitrous Oxide as a coping mechanism if desired. There is so much autonomy to going through FBC for your birth and you will never feel forced into anything. You dictate how you want your birth experience to go and that was exactly the case for me. I made it to 41 weeks and 1 day and was losing my mind, Dawn was there for me every step of the way. She was so great at calming me down, making great recommendations and truly cared deeply about the prep work I put in for labor beforehand and my prenatal care. They care so much about your diet, prenatal supplements, health, exercise, things you can do to prepare your body for a natural labor both mentally and physically, as well as your immediate care after birth. I felt like my birth team had my back and was there for me every step of the way. I ended up having Dawn break my water at 41 weeks + 1 day and my labor lasted for 5 hours. I pushed for 2 minutes and our little man was here. I truly think a lot of this had to do with Dawn + her team's recommendations and the prep work I did beforehand. I would highly recommend going to FBC! They will empower you to have the birth of your dreams and give you all of the tools you need to do so! They do work with insurance carriers which made this even more affordable for us but they do payment plans so you are paid in full by the time you give birth and don't have to worry about that right after. The office staff is great and were amazing to work with for paperwork, scheduling and insurance!

Throughout my pregnancy, the team was always so communicative and every appointment the midwives, both Dawn and Nicole, were happy to discuss any questions I had (and there were many as this was my first pregnancy!) Our birth team enabled me to have the natural delivery I wanted, even with the unexpected challenges.
