I called them last week and asked if they could please email me my first corporation federal ID number, they said not unless I paid them a $75 charge to email it to me, lol. I was a 20 year client of theirs. I gave them full access of my business account to withdraw their payments and fees etc. all those years. They helped me do 2 corporations one of them is now one of the largest service companies in Northern Virginia. They did our all our taxes, weekly payroll, personal taxes, pretty much everything but my bookkeeping. They are truly money hungry overpriced including all their mysterious hidden fees, No loyalty to their clients only themselves. I was surprised and disappointed when I called the general manager to ask for old Fed number and he reiterated for $75. They charged me thousands of dollars every year but would not do me this simple request of old Fed ID number that they Incorporated. That uuashows their selfishness and no appreciation of all the years of my loyalty with them. I ended up finding it myself two days later in some old paperwork in our files. read more

They did my taxes, claimed an erroneous deduction, for which I was audited two years after the fact; the audit notices went to a several year old mailing address, and I didn't get any notification of the audit until 2 years after the audit, when my employer was sent a notice of tax levy. All this resulted in me having to pay not just the audit amount but almost TWICE that, with all the penalties, fees, and interest that had been added on. I could not even file an abatement or get penalties/fees forgiven because it had been too long since the 2013 filing and 2016 audit was originally filed. All of this would be one thing, but I asked for Sareen & Associates assistance simply to look into the matter and help me figure out why I was getting the notice of tax levy when I first got it from my employer, as they had done my taxes through those years. S&A kept demanded $500 from me to even look into the matter/their error. I eventually got hold of the auditors, went through their documents myself, and figured out Sareen & Associates' deduction error. S&A were totally unapologetic and blamed me for their filing error. I will never use their services (or lack of service) again, and I advise others to steer clear. read more

Sareen & Associates bought out my old accountant. They failed to run payroll promptly and failed to file tax payments with the IRS. IMO, they expanded too quickly and cannot adequately handle the workload. Be very careful when working with them. read more

Bad experience. Much like other reviews here my old accountant was great for the past 2 years. Once he joined these guys or "got bought out", or whatever the case may be, the service went down hill. Mixed messages, poor communication and my tax situation got less complicated but the fee for their services went up $200 with no explanation or warning. I am NOT good with numbers/budgets and know nothing of the business side. I saw Ken Prohoniak, CPA, and he was GREAT. He was/still is knowledgeable, helpful (didn't make me feel stupid), and very easy to work with. He helped me understand how and why I needed certain things. I would highly recommend him. He is also very timely in his response time when getting back to you. And the price was reasonable. Another bonus - I tend to talk... A LOT... but he was very patient. read more

We just had a HORRIBLE experience with Sareen & Associates, Inc. Within the last year they merged with/bought out Accutax who prepared our taxes last year. During the course of preparing our taxes they asked for forms from a bank we don't bank with, for education expenses for a child that's in HS, and for a form that I turned in during our initial meeting on 2/27. Red flags started to go up. Then we received a second email on 3/16 asking for more information some of which they already had or could answer themselves by looking at our packet. On 27 March I sent an email asking if our taxes were done (shouldn't THEY contact US?) and was told 'Sorry, yes they are done'. I went to pick them up the next day and was handed a bill for almost QUADRUPLE what we paid last year (we did buy a house and my husband switched jobs but they are the only two things that changed from last year to this year). We were never given a warning, never informed the fees had gone up, NOTHING. They called the owner while I was in the office and I was basically told I was out of luck and they stood by their price. When I arrived home I sent an email to the owner and the person who prepared our taxes and never received a response. THEN I got a call from a wonderful lady (seriously, she really was wonderful while I expressed my disgust) asking about a request for an extension on our taxes? Apparently someone put a note on our taxes saying we needed an extension? Which we didn't (checks were already in the mail to pay for our taxes). I am currently trying to find a new CPA to do our personal and business returns as our well respected CPA of eight years has passed away. Although we have not made a final decision on a new CPA yet we have been thoroughly impressed with Stacey Hagens and Mr. Sareen who we have talked to over the phone. Stacey has been my point of contact at Sareen while we are making this difficult decision. She has been very consistent, responsive, checks in regularly to see if we have questions and has an overall professional and kind disposition. Mr. Sareen seemed calm and informative. He was not trying to push services on us. It is refreshing to have a tax service respond timely and efficiently. During this process of trying to find a replacement we were having issues with response times and an overall bad feeling about the people we have met at other offices. With Sareen there seems to be a consistent attitude of treating the customers with regard and we have not had any negative feelings. We are making a final decision this week on who does our taxes. So far Sareen is at the top of our list. Communication is key and Sareen has focused on this during initial phone consults. read more

I help my brother out with managing his restaurant because he's good at cooking and not good at business. He wouldn't be in business still if he didn't have this company doing his books and his payroll. They email him a single sheet every month that he can understand so he knows whether he's making money or his costs are up or something else he needs to know, and they take care of the rest. I look at the details for him, he cooks great food, Sareen tracks everything and makes sure everyone gets paid right and this arrangement works. Extremely happy with their services, they go out of their way to make sure that their clients are satisfied to the max. They make sure that your taxes get filed and they get filed in the right time, and not bothering you too much along the way. The staff is very easy to work with, and they always find the time to answer all of your questions, no matter how irrelevant they may be, because they understand that everyone may not have much knowledge about the proper way to conduct finances. Might as well do your tax return by yourself! I used this company since 2009 and thought I could trust them. My husband and I are both Military and recently received a Notice of Assessment from the state of Virginia. The tax representative from this company mis filed our taxes in 2011 and 2012 so we now have a bill for over 1300$. I called and had email correspondences from September to November. An advisor finally called me back and said the returns were filed saying I was active duty (I'm National Guard) so I have to pay the money back. He proceeded to tell me they were not liable for the mistake because I signed off on the Tax return. I told him I would have done my taxes myself if I understood everything, so much for trust! read more

Steer clear! I highly recommend looking elsewhere for tax preparation assistance. In fact, you will get no better result or service at Sareen than you would by using Turbo Tax. First are the fees: after receiving a quote for $750.00, we were ultimately billed $1453.00. The fee is based at least in part on the number of forms "required." Consequently you will find your return padded with dozens of unnecessary forms. Second is poor service. We spent an hour with the preparer, much of it addressing his complaints about how unorganized we were. A couple of days later, he emailed saying "the return is done, come in and sign, and pay." No invitation to review the return for errors/accuracy. I told him I would never sign without reviewing. He got angry and again blamed the 100% fee inflation on my wife and I. Finally, Sareen misfiled a state return that I specifically instructed them not to file and now I am cleaning up their mess. And remember this, even for $1000 plus you will not receive any advice. This is strictly hand-jamming the data into their computer. No doubt you can do just as good a job with a $75 Turbo Tax program. read more
