We always eat at Sargent's whenever we're in Winner. The food is good and the service friendly. We're treated like family when we're there!

I rarely leave reviews or even a rating, but this one definitely deserves a review. I travel across…read moreSouth Dakota monthly, but rarely am I in Chamberlain at a meal time. That may have to change. I chose The Dakota Cuban, because it didn't have the tourist trap vibe, nor was it any sort of chain. I like local, and what's more local than Cuban in SD! The place is super clean, the people friendly and the food was spectacular. They were serving a limited "heat wave" menu due to the 100+ heat outside. That meant no grills, and especially no Cuban sandwiches, which is what I wanted. I selected their Cuban Carne Con Papas. Who would have thought a hot beef stew on a hot day was in order, but it sure was. Super tender beef and potatoes in a very deep flavored tomato sauce. This had love all over it. I also ordered a Chillada, which was so good I really wanted about three more, but with an early morning and 7 hours of driving ahead, I settled on their watermelon agua Fresca. Again, fantastic, fresh, refreshing and just sweet enough for a dessert. You can believe I'll stop again, maybe I'll be lucky enough to get that Cuban sandwich, but if the grill is closed I'm staying for whatever they're serving! Well done.

Food was very tasty, if a bit pricy. We got a smothered burrito, street tacos, and a couple of…read morecokes and it was ~$50 with tip. You order at the counter, sit anywhere, and they drop the food at the table.

This is a solid choice for local dining…read more I will begin by saying the exterior of this building gave me pause. I have walked into a few 'less than friendly' establishments in my life and the exterior gave me that vibe. Thankfully, inside is a warm and delightful business with plenty of food options and stiff drinks at a fair price. No beer on tap, but a fair variety in cans. Definitely a space to bring the family, there are two dining areas. One to the right is a long narrow space with booths on the front side and tables in a variety of four and six seating configurations. Decor is wildlife pictures and dark paneling. No windows. To the left of the entrance is the bar and another grouping of dining tables. Parking is on three sides of the building and there are no designated parking spaces. Just be sure you and others can get in and out. The building entrance is street side. There is no awning or anything to let you know 'this is the one'. The menu has a kids section for the young ones. The regular Saturday special was prime rib w/a salad, roll, potato and dessert. So much food! They also offer a couple of ground buffalo meat meals along with sandwiches and entrees. We went with lighter fare and found a side salad order gives you one walk up to the salad bar. They also have a soup & salad bar meal option. As in most other restaurants we've encountered on our travels through the area, the salad base is a bagged iceberg lettuce mix. There were plenty of toppings and salad dressings to choose. My mushroom swiss burger was tasty as were the onion rings. The burger was well cooked and not greasy. Real onions in a tempura style batter had a nice flavor and crunch. Our waitress was pleasant with all the guests and she kept a close eye on us. We had our drinks in good time and the food came in an expected amount of time. Pay at the register by the door on your way out. There's a basket of candy just behind you there (I had a butterscotch. Yum!) and toothpicks are available in a dispenser on the counter. The internet tells me they are open until 11pm.
