    a food truck

Past Wednesday (Mar-15) Big Boss held an early St Patrick's Day shindig and had a mini food truck rodeo, among them I spotted a brand new truck. It is not just a budding truck in the food truck scene, the truck itself is literally brand new, with a shiny coat of paint. Sarge was very welcoming chatty with me that afternoon, but didn't offer much on the menu yet. Shrimp and Grits, also Jerk Chicken on Pita was all you were getting, but I did get a taste. Just like the website said, featuring "CHOP SOUL" Down home cooking with an Asian/Caribbean Flair, I would have never thought to get shrimp and grits from a food truck. Looking forward when they develop a full menu. Until then.

    Prices are AMAZING!!!!

I've got to stop and sing the praises of such an awesome experience. Sarges is awesome. I'm not a food truck guy but this one got me. My coworkers were raving about a food truck parked out front. Out of curiosity I went out to see what the hype was all about. First off I must say the prices are awesome! I tried the Turkey Burger and was very pleased. The meat was amazing and the fries that accompanied the sandwich were full of flavor. It took about 5 minutes for the plate that I ordered to be created. The young lady who took my order was very friendly. Her smile was warm and she made the ordering experience delightful. Great job Sarges!

I tried Sarge's food truck today! (my employer has food trucks daily). This may be my new favorite. I like the variety of food choices that are offered. I saw jerk chicken, carribean jerk tortillas, shrimp and grits. I decided to try the cheese steak and fries, and it did not disappoint. Hot, fresh, full of flavor. Check it out!

Shows open at noon on Tuesdays. Appears they need to update location, hours, or both.

This isn't a skimpy sandwich. I love the Italian and my new love is the Suprimo - prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers. I add cherry peppers for just the right amount of heat and balsamic vinegar. Just look at the photo of those thick slices of mozzarella, loaded up with prosciutto and plenty of cherry peppers. Straight up fire!

And parking is not the easiest, you will likely find yourself in the Harris Teeter garage. But the wait is worth it. As a NJ native and something of a sandwich aficionado, I have a rather discerning taste for a good sub sandwich. So upon a friend's recommendation, I went with the classic Italian. It came with prosciutto, hot capicola, genoa salami, and sharp provolone cheese. Note to everyone: Go for the sharp provolone, not mild! The first thing I want to say about this sub/hoagie is major props for the bread. It was crusty with sesame seeds on the outside, pillow soft inside. About the only thing I would wish is that it was semolina bread. Outside of that, kudos for the bread. Plenty of meat on the sandwich, which is key. I HATE HATE HATE when I order a sub and they give me something like three or four slices of meat. Not gonna name names...but that's not an issue at PH. I really like the grab and go options for various food items like long hot peppers, broccoli rabe, pickle chips, and dirt pudding. Excellent addition. I'm taking a star off since they only offer bottled drinks, you can't get free refills. No brewed iced tea, that's only available in bottles too. I'll at least forgive them for having Pepsi products since that's a Philly tradition. I'll definitely return to try their Italian tuna, chicken cutlet, and roast pork options.
