We have a…read more$500,000 mortgage through Bell that we were going through a amortization process to drop the PMI. We wrote them a $125,000 check. Our own agent told us that if we wrote it for a specific amount that certain fees would be waived or simply wrapped into that amount. After we wrote the check, we were told...oops, that was wrong. And we need another $250 to complete the amortization. This is after they've cashed the checks so I don't have the option to be just as petty as this company is and back out of the process and get my $125,000 back. Bell Bank, are the penny pushers so powerful in your company that you have zero customer care values? Is it worth pissing off your customers this badly over $250 when you make 3/4 profit off interest over the life of the loan?

This was very similar to another customer's experience as well. I noticed the way a lead loan officer badmouthed and blamed his assistant in front of me, while the assistant and some other office worker I never met actually handled the communication and paperwork after the initial meeting. That communication was only when they urgently insisted (through unprofessionally worded and formatted emails) that I sign something right away, despite my questions and concerns about the rate and transaction details. They never talked me through options with respect like any customer deserves; instead, they sent the final rate and also charged me extra money to bring the rate down, but they still couldn't actually deliver on the rate they so proudly promised at the beginning. I understand the rates change; it doesn't give loan officers the right to nonchalantly dismiss their customers' questions and lock in a rate without first consulting the customer. They technically performed a task, but they have miles to go to practice respectful customer service, communication, and honesty. You'd best look for mortgage servicing elsewhere until they get their act together.
