TL;DR: It's a farm-themed amusement park for kids by day and by night leading up to Halloween it's one of those haunted house horror screamfest experiences, lol. Saunders Farm is not a place that I would go of my own accord because It's too far outside of the city for me and I like neither farms nor horror experiences. However, I found myself going there with my husband, a friend and the friend's two kids. Overall, it was not as bad as I thought it would be, lol. We went during the day in September, so my review is of the farm-themed amusement park. General admission was $29 a person. I think they are only open September through December with it being most popular around Halloween. There were a few mazes, haunted houses that you walk through, and lots of play structures. There was also a zipline, which the kids did, but I did not. The zipline is not included in the general admission and was an additional $15 a person. They also had tractor rides, a Harvest one that was scenic and not meant to be scary and a Haunted one which had a few scares. They also had a big bouncy area like a bouncy castle but no walls or ceiling. They also had puppet shows, a theatre show and a monster parade. They have carnival games where you shoot cans, toss rings and things like that for prizes. There are no roller coasters or bumper cars. They have a few gift shops with very overpriced items. The candy store had no prices on the candy and our friend bought a few pop rocks, airheads and a lollipop for his kids and it was over $20. They have a few different places to eat as well. A few sit down restaurants and a few food court vendors where you take your food and eat at one of the picnic tables on the grounds. I had chicken tenders at "What the Cluck?" and it was $14 for 3 small chicken tenders and some fries. I was happy that the chicken tenders were real chicken breast meat and although they were small, they tasted good. The fries were nice and crispy too. The only thing I didn't like is staff dump the fries from the fryer into a large metal holding container and when customers ordered fries I saw staff grabbing the fries with their bare hands putting them into the paper containers and giving them to the customers. I'd think that would be hot and uncomfortable for staff, not to mention unhygienic for customers. The guy handling the chicken used tongs to place the chicken in the container, but fries guy bare handed it! WTF! Use some tongs or wear gloves, please. My husband got a Pogo with fries $10 at "Pogos + Poutine." This is where our friend and his kids got food as well. "Pogos + Poutine" and "What the Cluck?" have different menus but they share the same kitchen space. So their fries were handled by bare hands guy too. Overall, I think Saunders Farm is good for kids and families during the day. I can't speak to their Frightfest that happens at night. There's free parking on the grounds. This is a review for Frightfest! I came on a Sunday evening with a few friends. Tickets were purchased in advance and were pricier than I thought it would be $60 each. I think if you bought them further in advance, there was a possibility to get 15% off. This was my first time visiting Saunder's farm and I was really impressed. Super scary and well-planned haunted houses! I think this would make a good night out for groups We came on a rainy and cold night and it was pretty busy. Lines for the haunted houses were between 10-45 minutes each. It was overall very organized and fun! Not for the very young (too scary) or if you have walking difficulties (it was muddy and slippery so definitely could potentially fall). Would definitely come again! read more

Not recommended . I came here for the spook feast most the things were broken or closed and we weren't warned in advanced and a discount wasn't offered. Nothing was scary . The tickets aren't cheap, 45$ per person and its far so gas is expensive. The scariest house they have was closed because of the rain/ flooding and our favorite dizzy attraction apparently hasn't been working for weeks either . The staff are wonderful as usual, the apple cider is amazing and only 2.50 but the pretzels are so expensive 10$ for a large pretzels is too much, and it was rock hard. Honestly, this is the 3rd month waiting for a refund. They have not responded and have not refunded me 7 tickets. I think they just stole my money to be honest. I would never do business with them. It was almost $500 stolen - horrible. And the funny thing is I had originally bought like 18 tickets and used them except for 7 of them and these people just stole the money from me. If I am the first person to Yelp this place I am truly honored!! This is the bomb place to to with your friends or family in the Fall when you are in the Ottawa area. We went this Sunday and they truly did have something for every age group. The parking is great and its free. The location is so wonderful and airy and you should totally pack a picnic when you go because there is tonnes of picnic-y areas around. I feel like I am spoiling it if I give you too many details because you should really go and discover it yourself but there are small ponies, haunted houses, mazes, beavertails etc. Its really become quite big and you would need at least an afternoon to really enjoy it. My wife and I bought RIP tickets. We paid 124$ for 2 tickets. We went on a beautiful night and Saunders was rammed with people. Our tickets gave us front of line access. The staff were great at allowing us immediate access to the rides. Unfortunately, neither one us felt that the it was worth it. We simply weren't scared or startled. With that said, everyone around us seemed to be having a riot so maybe it was us. We are both 37 and the people there were quite a bit younger. Anyways, we had a good time but won't do it again. I'm definitely glad we paid extra for the RIP. I would have been miserable waiting for an hour for those attractions. read more

I attended Saunders Fright Night on October 10th with a group of 5. My fiance and I are huge "spoopy" attraction fans going to pretty much every attraction from Ottawa to Niagara. We consider ourselves experts at this point when it comes to hay-rides, haunted barns and jump scare trails. We had taken a break for the last 3 years from Saunders as we were finding it hard to swallow the $35/ person price. We both have gone numerous times over the last decade. At that price Saunders was ranking at the one of the most expensive single night Hallowe'en themed attractions near Ottawa. However this year we managed to score Friday the 13th tickets for $13 a person. Keep an eye out for this sale it happens in the summer via their Facebook. Our friends landed cheaper tickets as well at $28 dollars a person, getting them from a local costume shop. In the 3 years since going first thing we noticed is the massive amounts of upgrades they have included all through out the grounds. They have added 2 more major "Fright Sites": The Shambles and Camp Slaughter. 1 smaller attraction: The Graveyard and many new wood crafted food shacks. They have also added jumping pillows and the night we went an outdoor DJ as well as karaoke in the main pavilion. It was refreshing to see upgrades as we had spent years thinking where the revenue was going. (At $35 a person and how busy it can get closer to Hallowe'en one can wonder). All that being said, without too many obvious spoilers we will review each Fright Site and offer suggestions for improvements. Haunted Hayride: This is generally the busiest event of the night and we lucked out with a fast wait time. Perhaps adding other attractions shortened the wait. We loaded on the wagon and got seats at the very front near the tractor. The ride itself was fast and bumpy and both kids and adults were getting a kick out it. They have added a FANTASTIC improvement of music and spoopy sounds which gave it a fantastic atmosphere. Many new surprises and scenes were added as well. Our suggestion for this is to add more live actors. We once loved how the hay ride included a "tour guide" on board to creep everyone out. More live actors in the scenes could also really add to it as well. A heads up about being on the very front.. prepare yourselves for MUD. The fast tractor wheels will kick up mud... lots of it and it will get all over you/ in your hair etc. The Shambles: This was a new attraction for us and rated as the scariest one we went in with high expectations. This is a typical walk through a trail type of haunt however this one is very well done. The theme is fantastic and in our group of 5 we had many genuine scares. The live actors were great! The corn part made for a real horror movie vibe which we also loved. We couldn't think of anything to suggest to improve on for this one and it made for a great addition to the night! Camp Slaughter: This is another walk through trail with a different theme. This one is camp themed with many younger live actors. The walk itself we found too brightly lit and it was also close to the DJ music taking away any sense of spookiness. Our suggestion is to add additional soundtracks to give more of an eerie feeling. The live actors while all younger lacked a sense of creepiness as well. There is only so many times screaming in your face is scary. We found this one could use some work but it was still enjoyable! The Barn of Terror: This to us has always been a staple for Saunders and we wondered how they could improve with limited space and layout. We were greatly surprised to see that they did change things up in certain areas and somehow the layout seemed very different as well. The live actors were also great in this and our only suggestion again to add some spooky sounds. (The audio stimulation would really drive it home). Another addition that we were excited to see was The Graveyard. This a smaller walk around environment without any real scares. However this makes for PERFECT photos opportunity's and trust me when I say that it is BEAUTIFUL for those who love creepy graveyard scenes. It was easy to see the time, effort and cost put into this and it was GREAT. YOU MUST DO THE JUMPING PILLOWS. That's really all that needs to be said about these. As 4 late 20 somethings and a 50 something mom we spent way too much time on these laughing our faces off. We want to find how to get one installed in our backyard because they are a BLAST. We did eat food at the Beaver Tail stall as well as the main Pavilion which was reasonably priced and also pretty standard in taste. I was sure to grab a caramel apple on the way out which was delicious as well! The gift shop has been redone with the addition of a snack bar. We all felt that they really improved on food options as there were a TON of different places and things to eat. Overall with the amount of improvements and time spent on the grounds I can now say that FINALLY Saunders is worth $35/p! read more

I really enjoyed taking the grandkids here for FrightFest to celebrate Halloween early this year. They enjoyed the Barn of Terror and the haunted tractor ride as well as the graveyard. Some of the characters who chased you really played their roles well. It's a great way to get the kids out for some fun and some exercise. read more

Brought my two and a half year old son, Charlie, to Saunders Farm today after we dropped mom off at work. SUPER FUN!! I forgot to film the wagon ride, but he loved being pulled by the tractor. We spent over 4 and a half hours there, and didn't even go into any of the mazes. (Next time!) One bit of advice, make sure the kids wear a shirt on the giant slide. I wasn't thinking. The first time he went down sitting and he was fine. Of course I only filmed the second time, headfirst on his back. Ouch. That slide is awesome though, don't let my foolishness put you off it. We'll definitely be going back I should have filmed more of the giant inflatable pillows. He was running from one end to the other, falling on his face at each end, then getting up and running back the other way. We've been to the farm many times, but this past Thanksgiving was the first time we've went for the day time Halloween festivities with our 5 year old. The Haunted house and wagon ride was nicely tamed down for the day time. My wife was more scared than our 5 year old. The only major complaint I have about this Halloween visit is the prices of the third party food vendor trailer that was there. $13 dollars for a burger combo that doesn't include a drink is way too much. We personally didn't buy food from this vendor, but another couple was charged $16 for a combo and a bottle of pepsi. We stuck with the Beaver Tails, those prices were more resonable. Next time we'll bring food for a picnic. A couple more small complaints would be the prices charged to shoot corn and apples into the pond and the condition of the old wooden structures in the mazes. I understand the need to offset the cost of lost produce, but $2 for 2-3 shoots is a little steep considering the actual cost and the maze stuctures are well overdue for a rebuild. I can't mention the bad without bringing up the good. The staff are extremely friendly and were very involved in the whole Halloween experience. The entire place is filled with pockets of fun all over the farm that will keep you busy for the entire day. I really want a smaller version of those bouncing pillows in my yard. Such an amazing place to be during the summer and the Halloween season. The staff are dedicated and friendly, always a warm welcome when you arrive. The haunt attractions are amazing, detailed and always give you a scare. I have yet to eat something on the farm that I didn't like ... the food is delicious and filling. A farm favourite is the Kettle Corn as a snack during or on the car ride home. Every year their are improvements and additions. It's exciting to see what has been added each year. I highly recommend making the trip to the farm and see for your self how A-maze-Ing it truly is. There is something for everyone, from jumping pillows to stage shows, food to haunt attractions, and even just sitting by a nice warm fire or tasting some delicious drinks in the Tipsy Tavern (for the adults). Their kettle corn and apple cider are the best!!! The corn mazes are fun. We came here for the Halloween haunted activities. The Barn of Terror was pretty scary. The haunted hayride was interesting too. Had a a great time here. One thing to note is to pay attention to the weather the day before. It's a hike to get out to Saunders Farm, but it's worth the drive. I have gone four times for the Halloween Haunting season since moving to Ottawa. The activities get switched up every few years, so we go back when they do. During the day, there are activities for younger kids including a pumpkin patch and all ages mazes; however, if you're over 12, night is where it's at. The haunted tractor ride is a yearly staple. It's so fun and scary to go barreling down dirt paths, pulled by a tractor, at break neck speeds while things jump out at you. This was the first year I got to try out their giant jumping zone. It was good exercise, and a fun way to end our trip. There are places to buy food, alcoholic beverages, and souvenirs. The tickets can be a bit pricey, but if you sign up for the mailing list you can usually get them for a much lower price. The closer to Halloween you go, the busier it is. I think we spent 5 hours here - with kids - so that's a good sign! We went for the hallowe'en daytime activities, and they were great. The hayride is still spooky, but less so. The haunted house is a little less spooky, but we do know some little ones (4 or 5) that found it a bit much. There were jumping pillows (good for adults AND kids) and adult sized pedal carts on a track, a GREAT play structure, a hay ride, and a few more playground type areas. There were mazes varying from simple to very tricky. There was a stage, and some dance troupes performing. The girls got a kick out of that. Food was available for purchase including the standard pop and carnival food, and pulled pork, sausages, and poutines. During hallowe'en there's a pub- open 4pm onwards. Our party went from 8-40, but we saw newborns and grandparents there enjoying it all too. Summertime looks fun too, but we've only gone for the haunting. read more

A fun and huge farm with a couple play areas, a water play area, and 10 mazes. We only did the biggest maze and it was a lot of fun. If you live near there, I would get a season pass because the price for a family for one day ($95) is a bit too high. read more

I took my daughter to Saunders farm this evening. We have gone the past 3 years and enjoyed the experience. Fortunately, we hit the haunted hay ride early and barely had to wait. As in past years, the ride was fantastic with plenty of thrills and screams. The rides production and execution are well done. It seems they refine it each year and it does get better. We also went through the haunted walk and tried our hand at the maize cannon. Now for the bad........For me, Saunders farm has hit the tipping point of bad value for your dollar. Overall the park has went through quite a commercialization with several outside vendors. The prices are high and the quality is marginal. The activities are few and lack luster save the haunted hay ride. At $28.00 a person we won't be back. read more

Saunders Farm is great for kids, adults and teenagers but it is quite expensive and there are no deals for families. Also I was there on Saturday and I tripped over an item sticking out and this wasn't safe. I fell right on my entire right side and got whiplashed when I flung my head up and stopped it from hitting the floor. I am quite bruised two days later and still very sore. Yes they did call their first aid person and she took a report BUT WHAT I FIND AWFULL IS THAT WHEN I LEFT, NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE.... It made me feel like my injury , which could have been a lot worse if I had hit my head, was unimportant. I suggested they either move it or put a cone there so people can see it better. It feels like I was hit by a truck and I am still in a lot of pain. The way they dealt with this safety issue was not good. I doubt I will ever go back. If you do, take your safety into your own hands and hope you don't end up at the hospital. :( No one from Saunders even called to see how I was doing. This is very poor customer service. Went to Saunders Farm on a Friday night before Halloween and had a wonderful time with my partner here during Fright Fest. There are some negatives from our trip, however. There were tons of high school kids here and very few older people, which was disheartening. I wish there were more of a diverse crowd of people. The price to go to the farm during Fright Fest was also pretty expensive. The line ups were fairly long and the attractions were fairly quick to go through. The scares were great but the attractions were very dimly lit and so we had a hard time finding our way around without tripping. Also, around 9pm we couldn't find hot chocolate ANYWHERE. We went to all the vendors and those which had hot chocolate listed on their menu's even weren't selling any. One last thing - it was very very muddy at the farm, so be prepared to bring good winter boots or hiking shoes (or risk getting your booties all mucky!). Besides these negatives, we still did have a wonderful time. It was spooky and the staff were very friendly. If the prices were to drop, we would definitely go again! read more
