If I am the first person to Yelp this place I am truly honored!! This is the bomb place to to with your friends or family in the Fall when you are in the Ottawa area. We went this Sunday and they truly did have something for every age group. The parking is great and its free. The location is so wonderful and airy and you should totally pack a picnic when you go because there is tonnes of picnic-y areas around. I feel like I am spoiling it if I give you too many details because you should really go and discover it yourself but there are small ponies, haunted houses, mazes, beavertails etc. Its really become quite big and you would need at least an afternoon to really enjoy it. The haunted house was truly scary and very well done. Tip: Tickets are discounted at Ross' Your Independent in Barrhaven or Online on their website

This is a privately owned and operated property and business, offering a place to experience nature out in the open on their skating trail!! Let's embrace winter! After enjoying skating, you can warm up around a campfire - of which there were 3 or 4 around the property - and enjoy a hot chocolate or other beverage and treat. There were a few strategically placed outhouses conveniently located around the entrance. There's plenty of parking. There's also a hockey rink on the site. You sit on bales of hay to put on your skates, or there are a few metal benches available if you prefer. It was slippery and a bit sketchy getting up and moving around in your skates in this area. There's an open area to skate on in between the entrance and the rink, which leads toward the trail entrance. There you can skate protected from the wind by the trees. As you follow the trail, there are lights overhead and the occasional spotlight so that you can see to skate as it gets dark. At one point, the trees open up to an area that marked the turnaround point. It was windy here, but there was another fire pit and a round about big enough to host a school dance! Keep in mind this is a business and therefore not subsidize nor is it free! Cost was $18 per adult; $12 for seniors (over 55 y o) Kudos to them for opening during a pandemic!! Also, since the convoy was blocking downtown, along with certain access points of the canal for skating, this was a good alternative, which just happens to be close to home for us. We had a great time!! Edited to add that I found an announcement from CTV news about Icelynd: OTTAWA News New outdoor skating rink opens in Stittsville with an assist from a former Senators player Published Jan. 14, 2022 7:43 p.m. ET By Tyler Fleming CTV News Ottawa Multi-Skilled Journalist Share this story: Icelynd Skating Trails is Stittsville's newest attraction which offers an intimate experience through the dense forest brush as well as a professionally maintained outdoor rink in Stittsville. (Tyler Fleming / CTV News)Icelynd Skating Trails is Stittsville's newest attraction which offers an intimate experience through the dense forest brush as well as a professionally maintained outdoor rink in Stittsville. (Tyler Fleming / CTV News) There is a new skating trail in the capital that promises to offer an intimate experience through a dense forest. With a former Ottawa Senator hockey player as part of the ownership, it's clear the ice will be perfect. Chris Neil has helped transform a patch of forest into a silky-smooth skateway, which winds through two kilometres of dense brush. Icelynd Skating Trails located at 6865 Fernbank Rd. in Stittsville, opened on Friday after years of planning and months of preparation. "We're excited that it's finally here and to see people coming through the door is awesome," says Neil, who has owned the vacant land for more than 15 years. "The skating trail is all lit up for night skating and hopefully in the next week or two we will have more trails open and all said and done we're hoping to have five kilometres." To maintain the vast skating network, there are three Zamboni's and the trail is professionally maintained. There is also a near-NHL-sized outdoor rink, which is available for groups to rent out at. "I love being on an ODR and to have the rink boards, the glass and have it all light up at I always had that vision." Neil said. Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, cost $18 for adults and $12 for kids and seniors. The cost to rent the ODR starts at $250 and the concession stands are cash-only. Icelynd Skating Trails is open Tuesday to Thursday, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

My kids had a great time. We visit a lot of play places, and while I've heard some people complain about the price (around $25 per child), I think it's very reasonable since you can stay and play for the entire day. The memberships are also well-priced in my opinion, especially since they are open daily, the visits are unlimited and they're valid for a full year. The staff were friendly, and all of the equipment appeared to be in good working order. The space is small enough to easily supervise your children, but still large enough to keep them entertained. In my opinion, it's best suited for kids up to about age 8. There isn't a food menu, but the snack prices are very reasonable (e.g., $0.50 for juice, $1 for water, $1.75 for chips). Many similar places tend to overcharge for these items. I also called ahead and was told it was fine to bring my own coffee, which I appreciated. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of food options. That said, I understand space is limited and that food is available for parties.
